drc Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 I've never seen Tunchev played and I know he's been gone for ages and maybe will struggle to play at the same level as he used to. But before he got injured how good was he compared to the otehr defenders we have to day
Guest shearfox Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Tunchev was brilliant, never felt uncomfortable when he had the ball at the back and rarely resorted to just kicking the ball anywhere to get it safe, he always was composed and looked for a better option. I'm sure if he gets back to his best he would be great at this level.
LCFC_ED Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 before he got injured he was the best defender in the squad. never put a foot wrong and in my view looked premiership standard. if he can get back to playing at the same level we won't concede many.
Ric Flair Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Although it was at a lower level and there were a couple of strikers who troubled him on the odd occasion (Calvin Zola) he was absolutely quality, he looked like he was on a different planet than everybody else. He appeared to have so much time on the ball to set up our attacks and there's no doubt that he'd be equally as good at a higher level. Like Mark Davies was for us, they both were playing way below the standard they should be doing. If he can get back to that level with fitness then I predict our defensive problems would pretty much vanish overnight. We struggle on the left side of central defence and Berner is leaving gaps for the right wingers to get in behind too, but Tunchev would mop this up like a bit of oxtail soup. I would rather see a fully fit Tunchev than any signing we've been linked with and that even stretches as far as David Beckham.
drc Posted 28 October 2010 Author Posted 28 October 2010 So Tunchev is actually training again? IanStringerBBC Ian Stringer Ikeme's another 30 day loan spell from Wolves. Tunchev trained today, decision on whether Vassell will feature Fri. Davies struggling #LCFC

MikeyT Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Tunch is a different class. Just hope he's able to get back to his best. You see many players who are out for a long perodof time and never get back to what they were. Let's hope that isn't he case with him.
StanSP Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Give it a few weeks til one of his body parts flares up again and he's out for another year or so

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Love to see him playing at his best, like Ric Flair said, it'd eclipse the signing of anyone we've been linked with recently. Fingers crossed this isn't another false dawn for him and his injury does heal.

Fingers crossed this isn't another false dawn for him and his injury does heal. exactly, Tunchev is the best player at the club & his presence on the pitch would be a massive boot to the defense & team as a whole.
Father Ted Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Providing his injury doesn't flare up again I'm quite confident he will come back and play to the best of his ability. Tunchev is a true professional and that is conveyed on and off the field. He's not one of these that will damage his cruciates and turn to other things... Tunchev and Hobbs

Edmund Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 In training from today's OS What a great site to see. I really hope we see him back in a city shirt and back at his best. When does Tunchev's contract expire?

Legend_in_blue Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Kaamark was just as good when he came back from a serious injury. Quality players don't lose it.

StanSP Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Got a lot to prove to Sven if he wants to earn an extension. Will have to try and stay off the injury table for as much as possible before then. Really hope he can get a load of games under his belt to impress Sven & Co.
Heskey2011 Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Brilliant news, can't wait to see him tighten up our back line, hope sven watches Tunny's old videos, and doesn't over look him.
Edmund Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Next June ish http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~1339622,00.html It'll be interesting to see if we renew his contract. If he's back playing reguarly I don't see why not. Is it just me or does DF remind anyone else of Derek Acorah?
StanSP Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 : They were just having a nice game of stuck-in-the-mud!!
The Doctor Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 great news but i'd doubt he plays much over the next 3/4 weeks at least, training for the first time in what a year now? Can't be fit enough to play much.
