JohnnieSpangles Posted 29 October 2010 Posted 29 October 2010 it's the cultured left foot, he was sublime at spraying those curling passes down the flank for Dyer to run on to. I remember when Walsh used to do them back in the 90's and they'd end up in the Carling Stand or on Bentleys Roof. Tunchev and Davies with a Hobbs mixer would be obscene. As Davies will likely be at Villa again very soon, I'd be more than happy with Hobbs, Tunchev and Vitor. Vitor the other night reminded me of Tunchev's performance in the second half of his debut against MK Dons. Tunchev had looked a bit ropey first half trying to be all continental but then he mixed the Euro-zone defending with a bit of the rough stuff he was a class apart.
fox24 Posted 29 October 2010 Posted 29 October 2010 well i can say that tunchev was really happy to be back in training yesterday he loved it and has missed it and he cant wait to be back on the pitch and if all goes well he is aiming to be playing again at end of november
Guy Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 Welcome back Tunchev if all is true!! Like a dream duo of Matty Elliott and Spencer Prior at the back, all rolled into one (but shorter in height perhaps!) - or is that too far fetched?!
Webbo Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 It's going to be a selection headache if Tunchev ever does get fit and Davies comes back as well.
Guest ttfn Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 It's going to be a selection headache if Tunchev ever does get fit and Davies comes back as well. We'll play them all Naughton-Davies-Hobbs-Vitor-Tunchev-Berner Might keep a few more clean sheets.
Corky Posted 30 October 2010 Posted 30 October 2010 Absolutely delighted he's back in training. The guy's had so much bad luck that I hope he can return and still play a part in our future. Best of luck Tunch
Jimmy Posted 31 October 2010 Posted 31 October 2010 Davies won't be here past the end of November, Villa sent him out to get fit and he'll be back soon enough, GH will want to look at him before Jan to decide if he wants to keep him or not
Jodranadinho Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11712_6514124,00.html Might be old news, but I thought i'd pop it in. Sounds like Tunch could become a player like Ledley King, training every other day and not being able to play twice a week. None the less, hes a great centre-half and hopefully will show signs of brilliance again before his injury.

He's a cultured footballer, no question, and a guy who reads the game well. But Kevin Phillips left him for dead in the friendly against West Brom and I'm not convinced he's the greatest at tracking a runner. We'll see though. I wish him the best and sincerely hopes he proves me wrong all round. He's had a torrid time here.
Tilley Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 He was great in League One, so was Matty Fryatt.
colbo68 Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 I've never seen Tunchev played and I know he's been gone for ages and maybe will struggle to play at the same level as he used to. But before he got injured how good was he compared to the otehr defenders we have to day very similar to Curtis Davis - reads the game beautifully and covers the ground with ease - can't see him ever coming back though which is a shame - Davis/Tunchev would be the best centre back pairing in the division

colbo68 Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 What are you basing this on? Not based upon facts... I dont know whether he will be back or not... just seems like the sort of injury(s) that usually end up knackering a player's career

colbo68 Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 Sorry, I should have made myself clearer. I meant when you said that Davies and Tunchev would be the best centre back pairing in the division.... quite simply can't think of a better one... when both fit and on-form I think Tunch/Davis would make a superb centre-back pairing and one which could play in the top-flight - its all hypothetical of course cos it sounds like Villa will recall Davis

His positioning and aerial ability means he should be just about comfortable in the Championship. Don't see why he should be ahead of Morrison or Hobbs, let alone Davies or Vitor.

I did say a fit Tunchev - when he was getting beaten for pace in League one I suggest he wasn't truly fit - are you suggesting Tunch is slow? surely not......

I am suggesting he is both slow and immobile, yes. Championship strikers would have a field day and run past him for fun. He also always looks like he is going to concede free kicks and penalties by the way he grabs his opponents which is because of his lack of pace. He has to foul because he can't keep up with play. I will be genuinely surprised if he ever pulls on a Leicester jersey again. If he had any sense, he'd get himself fit and talk to his agent about getting a trial at a couple of lower league Bulgarian clubs.

Let the anger go, don't take it out on our beloved Tunch.

Mistletoe and Wine will do its job for years to come, I don't need new material. I just don't get the Tunchev love-in when he is unproven at this level and had one mediocre season in League One, in which he struggled at times.

You may be overstating it a bit, only 2 losses with Tunchev playing for us. League 1 granted, but it's not a bad record.
Jimmy Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 Our defence was much more shakey after Tunchev got injured then before wasn't the Arsenal player Rosicky out for almost 2 years with a knee injury? no reason why Tunchev couldn't come back just like he did
