Tunchev back in training

He's good on FIFA 11.

There have been cases where players managed to come back from a lengthy injury spell, but they're far and few in between.

I doubt he'll ever kick a ball in a competitive football match again.

Having said that, I'd love to see him back and end his playing career with a couple of minutes in a Leicester shirt.

Anything else would be rather tragic.

Mistletoe and Wine will do its job for years to come, I don't need new material.

I just don't get the Tunchev love-in when he is unproven at this level and had one mediocre season in League One, in which he struggled at times.

'Experienced International centre back unproven at Championship level', ( I think that is what you are saying ). Give me time, I am sure if there is sense in that statement I will get it sooner or later.

( Next day ) Still don't understand it yet, but I am working on it.

You may be overstating it a bit, only 2 losses with Tunchev playing for us. League 1 granted, but it's not a bad record.

We only lost 4 all season anyway, it shows the utter dire quality of the division when we were in it. Also, Tunchev didn't have to be great, I am pretty sure Patrick Gerrbrand would have looked better whilst surrounded by good players like Morrison, Hobbs & Berner in that gash division.

Experienced centre back playing for Bulgaria? How far have Bulgaria got in recent times? Not qualified for a World Cup in Tunchev's time and gone out at the group stages of the European Championships in which he didn't play.

I can't believe all these people are slating the tunch! He is sheer class , and would be more than comfortable in this league.

Sheer class in League One, what a player eh.

lol - yet more top quality WUMing tilley.

Yes. Can't believe folk fall for it....esp. when there's no argument either way as:-

a) He's played one and half Championship games in his career - so neither of us can say truly.

b) We lost two when he's played albeit in League One.

c) As much as Calvin Zola gave him a battle. He dismissed the pacey Mac attack at P'boro was absolute ease and didn't have a problem in the cup tie versus Palace.

d) He was until Davies got here probably our most pacey centre-back.

e) We are talking about a player whose captained a club to league champions twice and in the process played at the highest level of European club football. Also when representing his country keeping clean sheets against the likes of Italy.

Tilley's obviously been watching his old Arsenal DVDs again, he's got Tuch mixed up with Pascal Cygan. It's hard to take him seriously while he's putting the case forward for Danny N'Guesson as our saviour in other threads/

This is the key point for me. He hasn't had a run of games or half a season where you can say he's too good or not good enough.

Fryatt has had a few seasons at this level, so you can't really compare them Tilley.

People making out he will be our John Terry are idiots, especially given his lack of Championship experience.

It wasn't a walk in the park for him in League One so he'll struggle in the Championship especially given his distinct lack of pace and his obvious problem with grappling opponents when he can't catch them or has been caught flat footed.

Not as a saviour but as an option to mix things up abit, especially whilst we can't hit a fucking barn door. He cannot be worse than some of the so called footballers that apply their trade in our side.

Dany N'Guessan is a serious goal threat, he would cause alot more problems for our opponents than 'headless chicken' Waghorn or 'huff and puff because I'm past it' Howard.

My beef with N'Guesson is that he's more of a headless chicken than Waghorn. When he's attacking he's fine, it's trying to take people on at the edge of our own bloody box that does my head in. He's a massive defensive liability. It's unfortunate, he has all the physical attributes of a good player, but no footballing brain.

He has never blossomed like he should attacking wise because he was playing under '10 men behind the ball then hoof it up' Pearson.

He'd realise his potential under Sven. Him and Dyer and a front man in between and we're promoted come May.

In the minority here, although echoing what someone said earlier, Tunchev is unproven at this level.

How many games has he played at CHAMPIONSHIP level?

Anyone can shine in League One, as Tunchev sometimes did. But can someone explain to me how those backing him are dead-set on him firstly guaranteeing a place in the team )ahead of Davies, Vitor and Hobbs) and secondly playing like he's the next best centre-back in the world? To be honest, I think he'll have problems against players like Earnshaw and Chopra.

Lastly, he's fucking crocked for the rest of his career. No player ever comes back after 2 years out and avoids a set-back or recurrence of the injury which fucked them up in the first place.

N'Guessan :D :D

The only problems he'll be causing defenders at Glanford Park is when he runs straight into them, as per normal. Still, he might break out of his usual slumber to notch a goal every 10 games or so.

People saying Tunchev has won titles at his previous clubs, Lokomotiv Plovdiv and CSKA Sofia are Championship clubs AT BEST so can't really use that as evidence.

There is no evidence that he COULDN'T cope at Championship level either. There's a complete derth of evidence because he hasn't played in two years. Although in his last competitive appearance, in the Championship against Peterborough, he came on for a half and firmly put the pacy Mclean and Mckail-Smith firmly in his pocket after they'd spent the first half ripping Wayne Brown to shreds.

Anyhow, the Sven quote from the article:

"I like him as a player. You can see, even if he is far away from match fitness, he is a very good footballer. "

Looks like Sven doesn't agree with you Tilley, and I think I'll take his judgement over yours when it comes down to it, no offence like :P

Hope he recovers fully (doubt it) and its quite an odd decision by Sven to loan N'Guessan out as i thought he can pose the opposition's defences a threat or two. Prefer him to Gallagher at the moment.
