Pegosteve Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Nothing wrong in looking at auto promotion we have clawed back 5 points in 6 games on QPR only 13 behind with 29 games how high a mountain is that to climb?
Adster Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Er. It's November and we're in the bottom half? One game at a time, please. Lighten up.
FoxyPV Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 I'm going for hopeless optimism and automatic promotion. We are great
MPH Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Sod it. lets just go for the FA cup aswell whilst we are at it......
Haydos Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 I'm hoping for another playoff story like there's no tomorrow. After the start we had, a playoff finish would be absolute gold and it's the most i'm realistically hoping for. Any more and I believe Sven is an actual Scandinavian god. Anyway. Head's up for the time being but feet on the ground. If you know what I mean.
Ziggy1990 Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 no way we'll be near 1st or 2nd, again like most, playoffs will do also nice to see we've beaten 3 out of the top 5 in recent weeks
Foxblogger Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Since Division One was renamed as the Championship, no side with just 8 points on the board after 10 matches has claimed automatic promotion or even a playoff place. No side in the 3 points for a win era has been promoted after such a poor start. I'm not saying it's impossible, but context is important and Leicester will need to keep this sort of form going for most of the rest of the season to make the Premier League.
purpleronnie Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 I'm sure if we lose a couple the thread title will change to.....Mid table or relegation.

Whilst there will undoubtably be some ups and downs, I see no reason this can not be achieved assuming Sven is able to reinforce well during the window. We are playing well but there is a degree of 'make do and mend' at the moment, as well as a great deal of uncertainty in the minds of some of our players. We could be stronger and more consistent in the second half of the season if Sven can get in the players he wants and as I do not think that there are any really stand out teams in this division a determined run could really put us in with a shout. Apart from Cardiff we have taken points off some of the top teams, keep this up and anything is possible...
phillthefox Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 well 10 points from last 12, i think thats promotion form and we not far off playoffs, i would be happy with playoffs after the start we had, but lets go for it , top 2
Finnegan Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Lighten up. I'm fine, I'm relaxed. I'm not the one that's going to be in tears at the end of the season if we don't get promoted or shouting SVEN OUT! if we lose our next game. Knee-jerk, ridiculous over-reactions are knee-jerk, ridiculous over-reactions whether or not they're positive or negative. If our fans ever learn to just be moderate I'll actually have heart failure, I think.
shailen Posted 14 November 2010 Author Posted 14 November 2010 look lets be optimistic! The way we dispatched derby yesterday and especially in the first 20 mins we looked unstoppable! I know QPR are 13 points away from us, but they are looking like they are dropping points and we must capitalise. For those of you who say we cannot get auto promotion, its only November. We have still got 29 games left and so theres alot to play for. Furthermore I think whoever wins the league this season will have the lowest points total ever because of how tight the league is! Finally.....COME ON CITY!

We lost against QPR and Swansea out of the big teams

Tilley Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 I agree with Finners. Take it a game at a time because if we lose on Saturday, this place will be full of, 'O'Neil and Heksey in?????' 'I loved League One and it's a good job.' and 'How shall I kill Fryatt?' I always say start these discussions around February time.
Karljohn Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Play offs easily do able, automatic? I think Cardiff have it sewn up but QPR not so sure, I think they will get found out and draw more than they win. A lot rests on our back four, we might be able to extend Cunningham deal and splash the cash for Davies who I honestly believe will leave Villa, Vitor is already done so its just Naughton, but then why do we really need him when we have Robbie Neilson Sort the back four, get a keeper to challenge Weale and hope for Waghorn and Vassell to do the business, I think Fryatt will leave in January.

Foxblogger Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 We also hadn't lost a play-off semi until last season so past records mean nothing. You're not really comparing apples with apples there. Yes, before last season Leicester had always progressed in play-off semi-finals, but we'd only played in six of these ties before meeting Cardiff. By contrast, saying no team has recovered from a start of 8 points from a possible 30 to be promoted in the 3 points for a win era is entirely different. It is based on the experience of nearly three decades of football (15,422 matches) and as such is a much more statistically sound basis on which to be forming opinions. I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm just saying that no-one has managed it in the last 29 seasons and that leads me to err on the side of caution. If City do pull this off, it will be an unprecedented achievement, something we can all be proud of.

Although I am certain that teams that were 4 points outside the play offs after 17 games have made the play offs. How far were blackpool from the play - offs this time last season. We have got plenty of time to make up those 4 points, it can be easily done in the next 3/4 games if we keep this form up. QPR for me will drop points, Cardiff are going to be champions i think, so we can catch QPR up but its going to be a big battle to get there and even harder for us not to drop many points

Foxblogger Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 statistics mean nothing as they only show the past. That's quite a statement. By that logic you could argue Liverpool are still in the title race because they could go on an amazing run. But we know that's ridiculous, because they have too many points to make up. Yes, technically they could still win the league, but we know from past experience that it's extremely unlikely given the propensity of all teams to drop points over the course of the season no matter what standard of football they play. Leicester gave themselves a mountain to climb, not an impossible one, but reaching the automatic promotions spots is highly improbable and the playoffs, even at this stage, is going to be difficult.
Floridafox Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Swansea win again today, against a recovering Middlesboro - right now looks like the Welsh will be securing the automatic promotion places. What a favour we did Swansea taking Sousa off them
Aeropars Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Automatic promotion is well out our reach. For me the two teams who should really not be in an English league will go up. Swansea and Cardiff. To do one of the automatic spots would require a win from 95% of our games. I cant see swansea od cardiff losing many or even drawing.
