Swalker Posted 30 November 2010 Posted 30 November 2010 Last night, I thought, was Vassel's best game for Leicester so far, and this was topped with a chance cleared off the line and setting up King for the goal. Since being signed here Vassel seems to be settling in and looking more comfortable as the weeks went on. I thought last night was the night where he has fully settled into the team and back into English football and will now start to push on forwards and really cause rouble for the opposition.
jonthefox Posted 30 November 2010 Posted 30 November 2010 Agreed. I was very impressed last night. just wish he could get that first goal to get him up and running. Against watford maybe?.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 30 November 2010 Posted 30 November 2010 Yeah, looked the part last night.Should have had a penalty. Think he's a decent asset.
Swalker Posted 30 November 2010 Author Posted 30 November 2010 Agreed I thought he was going to get a goal tommorow. His class is starting to show now though and it is surely only a matter of time before his first goal
richardsfoxes Posted 30 November 2010 Posted 30 November 2010 Played well, still think he should get wide more and try using his pace, i will add his very good at supporting naughton defensively, which is always good to see.
Babylon Posted 30 November 2010 Posted 30 November 2010 Thought he was pretty non existent the first half apart from the little touch he got to the one cleared off the line. Second half he looked like someone had slipped he something dodgy in his half time cuppa as he looked a different player.
Corky Posted 30 November 2010 Posted 30 November 2010 Babs is right, he brightened up second half and his run for the goal was excellent.
sdb Posted 30 November 2010 Posted 30 November 2010 yep poor 1st half really, very good 30 mins in the 2nd. a sign of things to come i hope.
Jordan Posted 30 November 2010 Posted 30 November 2010 King's goal came off the back of one of the greatest shitty plays I've ever seen. Vassell uses his left foot for running fast, planting into the ground to play with his back to goal... and that's about it, really.
ajthefox Posted 30 November 2010 Posted 30 November 2010 I wasn't overly impressed. As has been first half he did little special, and although he got better and became more of a threat I'm not getting too excited. For me he holds on to the ball for too long. He got a little lucky yesterday before his "assist" and should have passed it earlier in all honesty. Still, he seems to be improving and I hope he continues to do so.
dannythefox Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 didnt do much first half played better second half because he was running more in the middle insead of being left out wide like he was first half. Looks to be getting sharper now though.
Collier Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 Agreed I thought he was going to get a goal tommorow. Derren Brown?
lildave3 Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 For a 15/20 minute spell in the second half he was unstoppable. Looked a threat every time he touched it. Would like to see him one side, Dyer the other and just let them run at defenders.

I would but then your playing him out of position the same as waggy an look what happend there its done nothing for him.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 Darius Vassell is not the answer. Anyone expecting goals galore from him is severely misguided, even if he gets moved inside. Bednar looked better.

Bednar looked better. Vassell's never really been a prolific scorer at the club level. He's more of a "forward" than a true striker. His real value is probably equally if not more reflected in the way he stretches out defenses (particularly on the wing), beats defenders to balls (still can do, to some degree), and creates goal-scoring chances for others (i.e. King's goal on Monday) than his goal haul... wait, does this make sense? Did I just rehash some sentences from an old Heskey-to-Leicester thread just now?

Jordan Posted 3 December 2010 Posted 3 December 2010 What on earth is this clap trap ??? Vassell didn't exactly pull a Cruyff turn. He refused to put the ball on his left foot despite practically being invited to shoot from the top of the box, stumbled past three defenders neither of whom could make a simple tackle, saw the ball bounce past them luckily right in stride and then fired well wide of the far post... only for Camp to get the slightest of touches to direct the ball right on King's foot for the easy goal. Whatever it was, I'm still delighted with its outcome. If Leicester get one of these every game, I'll be a very happy fan.
MC Prussian Posted 3 December 2010 Posted 3 December 2010 From what I've seen so far, Vassell is getting better with every game and also closer to scoring. The lack of fitness and match practice showed in the first few weeks upon his arrival. Fully fit, he's going to be a great asset to the squad.

Stretching, confusing defenders is his goal. If the teammates, like King, get the real goals I'm more than happy. He brings havoc.
