jamesmilner Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 our support(singing) at home isn't good enough . leeds fans totally out sang us all game . why is walkers so quiet ? why is the drum not at the kop end ? stadiums that are unbelievably noisy aren't nice for away players to come and play at . away players and supporters must love coming to us to out sing us . sad really , what can we do ? it needs addressing , it works !!!!
AoWW Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 I'm amazed nobody's ever noticed this before and thought to ask what can be done about it.
lcfc"weasel" Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 There's so many reasons, it's impossible to pinpoint a certain thing.
Corky Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 We've lost three home games in 2010. We lost three home games in 2009. So not singing seems to work.
Guest Bilo Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 Deja vu strikes again. Agree with the sentiment that our home support isn't what it could be, it was poor to the point of embarrassment against Leeds, but teams hardly 'love coming here' seeing as we haven't lost at home in the league since QPR. As already said, there are many reasons why our home support is so bad, all of which have been done to death on literally dozens of threads over time.
ozleicester Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 WHAT?.... why hasnt this been spotted before, sort it out Sven!
sphericalfox Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 WHAT?.... why hasnt this been spotted before, sort it out Sven! I agree! It's Sven's fault! SVEN OUT! SVEN OUT! SVEN OUT!
purpleronnie Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 There's so many reasons, it's impossible to pinpoint a certain thing. I would say the main one is lack of people singing.
jamesmilner Posted 31 December 2010 Author Posted 31 December 2010 im just a season ticket holder that would like to have a sore throat from singing with the kop sometimes , im not saying we are poor at home just doesnt feel like a fortress and that we are intimidating , nothing wrong with wanting more support for my team is there ? . the leeds game was embarrassing for us , they even wound jobber up then used the drum to outsing us . why is the drum not near the kop ??????

I think you are comparing our home support to how it was back in the day, as opposed to other teams home support. I've been to quite a few away games over the past 3 seasons and I don't think anyone's home support is very good. The away fans constantly outsing the home fans. Also, it depends what the score is to some extent. Leeds fans did outsing us (as they would most places, and as would most away fans at most away grounds) but they were leading for the majority of the game. When it was 2-2 we didn't hear a peep. Not defending or having a go at anyone, it's just an observation. I sit in K block and the atmosphere is good there most of the time. The atmosphere at football grounds is rarely going to be how it was in the old days. I think that's sad but it's not just us. It's the sad fact that people in general don't sing at football matches these days. The best way to combat it would be to swap the Kop and the family stand. And maybe make tickets cheaper. But you can't affect free will (which annoys me sometimes)
Fox92 Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 It will never be a 'fortress' because it's a new ground - listen to other teams with newer grounds such as Arsenal. The fans arn't close to the pitch, the ground isn't scary enough etc
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 AWAY supporters are the bread and butter life and soul of any club who put their money where their mouth is and go away to sing all day and remind other parts of the country who they are. At Home most sets of fans are gash for singing to be honest but i do feel ours could be alot better yes. Shame we cant all get our heads together and all like minded "want to yell your fooking head off at games sort of fans" sit together in one or two parts of the stadium to make the atmosphere better. We know thats not going to be the West Stand as thats all the lets say "posher fans" generally, The East stand seems most logical as the cub wont hand over the family stand in a hurry and the South Stand is too far away from the AWAY supporters. Anyone else any thoughts???
lcfc"weasel" Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 Why do you need to be near the away fans, not a dig, just generally interested?
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 Why do you need to be near the away fans, not a dig, just generally interested? [Generally makes the fans feed off each other when they are closer, a sort of tribal thing i suppose?]

Anyone else any thoughts??? I think clubs will see the complete opposite it's the home fans, those that turn up match after match be they ST holders or not they're the ones who sustain the clubs with their money. There's no denying the contribution away fans make in terms of support but all their money goes to the away club. In the money driven world that is modern football the only away fans the club are interested in are the ones that are visiting And as long as the home fans keep turning up in sufficient numbers, which they will the club couldn't care less whether they sing or not, if they do fine, if they don't well play some music, give someone a drum, if that doesn't work play more music/turn it up and give them a bigger drum. Let's not forget as each season passes they'll be fewer and fewer that knew what it used to be like and they will be replaced by fans nostalgic for the time when we used to play Chelsea Dagger when we scored. If the club really cared at all about vocal support they'd do something about it, the fact that they haven't should tell you you're wasting your time and you'll have to rely on it evolving naturally.
MeatyLCFC Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 i agree tht our away support is better then our home, and losing 6 times in 2 years is basically a fortess aswell, i tryed to give the point of moving the kop to the family stand so the familys nd kids and the west stand (more posher fans) are away from the swearing etc but i got shushed it will make our stadium as not very nice place to come, the drum in l1 has taken to the atmosphere up a bit from before aswell cus it makes the whole stadium sings the songs and credit to the fosse boys cus theyve lightened up the left side of the kop a bit more aswell but im guessing it might be a policing thing for swapping the stands (trouble etc) and youll have to wait for nxt season cus of season ticket holders etc, this is just my point so dnt have a go at me
Wymsey Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 Support away is much better than at the Walker's as those fans who attend the away matches are the ones that follow the team and fully supports them. This is why the atmosphere is more noisy from us away

I've no doubt though it will arise again and again as we get new posters so don't take it personally.

Maybe because 95% of the noise generated in the ground is from L1 and K1. Why don't you answer the question yourself.
