Fryatt's A Hull Player

Disappointed about this tbh! Rated the guy and has really showed some pedigree in the past two seasons. He is a natural finisher and I believe Hull have got a real good bargain at 1.2mil. I know for all those of you who dont think he was up to it, just take a look at his goals to game ratio compared to others over the past two seasons. I still think he is premier league class and will make it one day.

Without the campaign in league 1, his ratio was something like 1 in every 4.5 games, which is ok, but not really good is it.

We need a goalscorer who can get us 20 goals a season.

Everyone knows my opinion on Fryatt and whilst I wish him the best of luck at Hull, I won't pretend his departure from us saddens me even a little bit - at £1.2m it probably makes me a little happy. He was a 1 in 3 striker according to his stats, and had we not spent a season in League One it'd probably have been closer to 1 in 4.5.

Yes Sven needs to sign someone clinical but I think he's done a good bit of business here.

My thoughts exactly.

I still think he was the best striker on our books as of yesterday. Arguably that says more about the poverty of the competition rather than Fryatt's ability.

Good luck to the bloke. One of those footballers who seems like he's probably a genuinely nice guy off the field. And I wouldn't wish Hull on anyone...

In the Championship last season Fryatt scored 12 goals in 27 appearances, almost 1 in 2, and on track for 20+ if he'd had a full season. Can you name a striker, costing less than £1 mill, who would be prepared to come to us and who would be likely to score at the same rate? I hope Sven can!

In terms of money, not too shabby a deal.

As for Fryatt, just didn't look like the player he was when he got his jaw broken. It must've affected him deeply, mental issues blocking him from finding back to his old self.

All the best at Hull, Matty.

It just wouldn't work out at Leicester, may you find your luck elsewhere.

Pearson might just as well get the best out of you once more.

You watch him bang them in now, not a fan of this deal at all. He was a fan favourite and before his injury gave his all for the club, he clearly didn't like Sousa and that put him on the wrong foot when Sven arrived. Gutted to see him leave but I wish him all the best.

Shame to see Matty leave.

I would have liked to see him given an opportunity to play under Sven.

I'm sure he will keep scoring goals.

Wish him the best of luck.

Good servant for our club but it was time for him and us to move on.

atb,

the fooker will start banging them no doubt

Well, 1 in his first match

Shouldn't be hard. He's a league 1 striker after all

He's an average Championship striker, capable of scoring in 8 games on the trot... but equally capable of scoring one goal in 20 games. Good servant, wanted to go and got his wish, good luck to him.

Don't know how people can be saying 1 mill is good buisness on our part, wasnt that long ago people were saying we wouldnt let him go for less than 4-5 mill and their was premiership clubs looking at him.

I agree their was no point in keeping him here if he didnt want to play for us, but we've let him go for a steal, should have cashed in before the season started.

You're probably right. We waste an awful lot of money on nobodies and don't seem to make the best of our assets. But we didn't sell him in the summer and, at the time he was sold the deal was okay.

We've needed to clear the waste and Fryatt was waste (a) because he wanted to move and (b) because he's not what we need as a first choice striker to achieve our goals.

Fryatt is what he is - a guy who gets chances in every match and who has spells when he takes em. But he never in his entire time here, lead the line like Vassell yesterday - holding off defenders while shielding the ball, feeding the runners, seeing the pictures everywhere, poaching a goal from a few feet, threatening from distance.

Fryatt wasn't strong enough to hold the ball, didn't get his head up enough and wasn't selfless enough to feed others in a better position.

I don't know that he was even a poacher in the real sense of the word, remembering the times we had low crosses go across the six-yard box and Fryatt was was nowhere to be seen. And he certainly didn't score from long range or with his head. In other words he was strictly limited.

I'd be surprised if any team wins anything from Championship level upwards with Fryatt as first choice. He's not fast enough, strong enough or versatile enough.

Good championship player, will do well at Hull I expect. Because of all that had gone on, was prob going to take to long for him to get back to his best with us.

Not that sad to see him go, perhaps we will start see Waggy getting more of a look in now and getting back to form.

We need to stop agreeing, it's getting weird. Say something stupid about a youth player that will never make it. :P

I like the new Tony... I have found myself agreeing with him much more of late.

I will now wash my mouth out with soap.
