bjblyth Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 'According to Stringer' Why don't you check the official site mate it was on there before Stringer 'confirmed' it!
sphericalfox Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 'According to Stringer' Why don't you check the official site mate it was on there before Stringer 'confirmed' it! Stringer's been on the mash all night, and only managed to update his twitter on the 44th try.

Fox92 Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 Just seen it on the official site, and I'm dissapointed really. He will never be a 'league 1 striker' as people call him. With the right service and strike partner he can be deadly on his day. His goals last season against Blackpool and Queens Park Rangers for instance were real strikers goals and also his goal at Bramall Lane highlighted that he was a poacher that any team would need. I don't think he has been given a chance this season, bringing him on for 5 - 10 minutes is ridiculas, not even the Worlds best player could possibly change a game in that amount of time. However, he was able to grab some goals when brought on, for instance at Norwich. This formation hasn't helped either, playing 1 up front isn't fantastic and Matty wouldn't have had any support or service. And I'm pretty sure when he came on for like 8 minutes against Ipswich he was playing wide left which is stupid. 51 goals in 168 games is good and it was a pleasure watching him and having him at the football club. Good luck Matty.
Callabinho Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 Disappointed that we have let our only natural goalscorer go. This garbage about him being a league one striker is nonsense, I'f Matty had not been injured he would have easily got 20 goals last season. However good luck to the lad i am a Fryatt fan, If Sven dares to get rid of Waggy my patience will be waring thin.
cc_star Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 Fryatt is our top scorer this century, has averaged 1 goal every 3 game. In all likelihood will go on to do equally well at Hull. He did all that in some very poor Leicester City teams, & even under a performing Pearson team we struggled to create chances Shame he's not had a chance in this team which creates chances by the bucketload
dannythefox Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 Wish him all the best, theres alot going on at hull a the minute he will do well there. Not happy he never got a good go under Sven i just hope we can get hold of a good striker now or just play Waggy down the middle and not on the bench!
Legend_in_blue Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 The moan-in will be full of moaners this afternoon after the game and all Monday night. This is perfect ammunition for them. £1.2 million is a fair price for him. Not prolific enough to warrant any more.

They'll be asking for a bronze statue erected for him with a handy kleenex dispenser a the bottom for those with giddy hands and rose-tinted glasses.

Thracian Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 While I don't lament Fryatt's departure at all - it's almost became a DJ Campbell situation in the end - we're going to be wide open for criticism if we haven't got a genuine 18-goals a season striker sorted as a replacement. Achievement is all about goals and we're relying on one attacking midfielder for most of ours. It's a form of insanity and it's not as if the problem's.a new one. We actually need two proper strikers and we need em now.
dave_the_fox Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 They have signed fryatt, McLean and guzan!? Pearsons on fire this morning!
Legend_in_blue Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 They have signed fryatt, McLean and guzan!? Pearsons on fire this morning! We've barely got enough firewood to even contemplate getting one started!

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 I was a big Matty FRYATT fan and i will miss him playing football in a LEICESTER shirt - our loss is their gain, he will score for fun just watch
Bert Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 I imagine walsall will get some of the transfer fee. Pretty sure they'll have added a clause in.
davieG Posted 1 January 2011 Author Posted 1 January 2011 I imagine walsall will get some of the transfer fee. Pretty sure they'll have added a clause in. I think they'll get 25% of the profit £1.2mill -£400k so approx £200K End of an era - the last of Levein's buys

Donatello Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 Fryatt is a classic case of a player who when given a decent run in the team will give you a good return. I guarantee he will go on to do very well for Hull. All the talk of him not being a Premiership player is nonesense, we have a lot of players who aren't good enough for the Prem, and considering where we are in the league we should be looking to consolidate rather than having our heads in the skies. If Sven goes out and signs a good striker then I'll be less frustrated but for now, it seems we've let our best goalscorer go. Overall, a very disappointing decision to let him go.
davieG Posted 1 January 2011 Author Posted 1 January 2011 Are you sure? No, that's why I said I think and not I know one can never be sure these days because the actually figures/details are rarely released.
