Stevosevic Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 If he signs, be prepared for some of the coolest penalties you have ever seen.
accessory Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Too injury prone. This. Another Kirkland in the making.
STUHILL Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Good to see there is some truth in this if Stringer is to be believed! Can't help thinking, this is another player just out of stretch for us though. I wouldn't want to pay any more than 3-4 million though which I think would be fair
hackneyfox Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 From Bentleys: Simple text from Everton supporting brother: "Midland pie factories will be celebrating..." Fat, shite, and will definitely eat up most of the budget (as well as all the pies). Over-rated, over-paid and over-weight. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Surely it's better to get someone that's proven like yakubu than a league one player, especially considering how most on here have been banging on about how fryatt was only a league one striker!
cc_star Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Surely it's better to get someone that's proven like yakubu than a league one player, especially considering how most on here have been banging on about how fryatt was only a league one striker! What has he proven? that's he's not good enough for Moyes to consider selecting him despite Everton's lack of goals? Someone said he got 1 goal in 5 when he was good and 1 in 12 so far this season, was poor in the summer too I'd favour someone on the up than someone on the down, for the money & wages he'd cost we could improve a couple of positions. Vasell is doing OK, Waggy still hasn't been given a chance under Sven yet & as mentioned Austin at Swindon takes his chances 31 in 50, which is a skill regardless of division
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 His goal to game ratio is 1 in 3 in the prem over 7 seasons, so god knows where your 1 in 5 came from!!
Edmund Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Yakubu will sign for West Ham. West Ham and Everton can't agree on a price at the moment. I'm guessing we've been in contact and his agent Pini Zahavi's using us to test West Hams patience.
Stevosevic Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 His goal to game ratio is 1 in 3 in the prem over 7 seasons, so god knows where your 1 in 5 came from!! I was just about to make that point myself. Yes he hasn't scored many in the past 18 months, but how many games has he started? No doubt he will score goals at this level.

Got to back Sven with this transfer, although personally i think its very low risk.

Got to back Sven with this transfer, although personally i think its very low risk. As someone else mentioned we're probably little more than a tool to leverage more money out of West Ham. After Beckham (wants and is capable of top flight football & Champions League), Owen (Still has a part to play under Fergie), Heskey (playing excellent for Villa), Carew and many, many more and probably now Yakubu are we simply aiming at players that have zero chance of joining us? Perhaps the surprise of Sol Campbell to Notts County raised our expectations of what's possible. Is Sven's little black book a bit too good for what our league position looks like to people looking from the outside
davieG Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Even if he should manage to get us into the Premier League - what then? We'd have an expensive, high waged, long contracted player on our books not good enough for the Premier League, hardly sensible forward planning and worse still if we failed to get promoted. It's not as if he'd be a big shirt seller - would he?
Stevosevic Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 One step at a time DavieG He'll have 18 months in this division to score goals for us, get his form back and IMO he is more capable than our other forwards of playing in the premier league.
crisp monster Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Danny graham was a league 1 striker - most on here would have him and I doubt watford paid that much for him He played for carlisle against us in a 2-2 draw and I thought he looked good then - pity nigel didn't take a punt. I'd rather we were looking at players on the way up

It's not as if he'd be a big shirt seller - would he? Who's to say he couldn't be a success in the Prem again though? He is only 28 and we can hardly write his career off just yet after 18months of injury and poor form. I think the key to this deal if possible, would be the cost. 3-4million in my view would be a great deal for a player who IF (and yes I know it's an IF) could start playing as well as I think we all know he can. A risk worth taking if you ask me

So you don't think a player like this could get us promoted this season - if so why buy now, wait until the summer when the choice increases and the prices could be lower
s11nny Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Samba. Central defensive partnership of Samba and Bamba. haha
Stevosevic Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 So you don't think a player like this could get us promoted this season - if so why buy now, wait until the summer when the choice increases and the prices could be lower I am still being cautious with regards to hopes of getting in the play-offs, it's possible but i think after the first 9 games it's a tall order. I would normally agree, but with Yakubu, i don't think that there are many better strikers we could realistically get in the championship, if any. Therefore i think we should get him now whilst he is available and give him time to settle, score some goals and get his confidence up ahead of the new season.

He's not available, Everton appear to be talking to West Ham and we're linked because of Sven's Nigeria connections, either that or Everton/Yakubu's agent is using us to get West Ham to cough up more
sdb Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 If a club actually spend 7mill on Yakubu, they've done a big boo-boo. Luckily that wont be us as that's surely out of our range. If he were fit and hungry (metaphorically) he'd be great, but i've not seen a lot of desire (or goals) from him for some time.

dpjfox Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 bernard parker must be the back up if nobody joins!
