Leicfox Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 Southampton only want £1mill for Jason Puncheon. He's been great at Millwall this season scoring 5 in 7. He is able to play on the left or right wing and in the hole just behind the striker. Would anyone take Mido ??
SPF07 Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 Although Bruno is playing well, it still looks as though Sven wants to strengthen in this area. One possibility could be Paul Konchesky? Somewhere in region of £3m Could be a good bit of business, not quite made the heights of Liverpool's expectations but at this level having seen him elsewhere could be a great addition. Since Hodgson gone from Liverpool he has not featured, instead they have favoured playing Johnson on his weaker side. This indicates he may not be required. Thoughts...
Jackirius Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=70152&st=60 Also quite a few players from Liverpool which might be looking to leave, just a matter of wanting dropping down or not.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 Stringer hinting at this on Twitter too. This would be immense, he would walk into almost every prem team but if Man City don't want him to go to another premiership side I could see a loan with an option to recall if anything happens to Hart being a possibility. Let's hope he's not cup tied after we see them offf on Tuesday eh? Does this now have even more creditbility?? Shay Given
Spiritwalker Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 I wish that rather going for big name prem players like SWP we would look at players like Kebe or Sinclair.
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 WBA are letting Simon Cox out on loan for the rest of the season, Might be better than Bedner was
Samilktray Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 If we dont at least ask about Darren Bent it'll just show a lack of ambition for me.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 Elliott Bennett Said we should've gone after him in the summer. Was exceptional for Brighton last season, and, while not scoring as many this season, he's been one of the instrumental players in their beastly season so far. Now being linked with Norwich. Exactly the type of player we should go far, easily Championship top end quality, he'd give us more options in the middle, too. He can also play on the wing, where he doesn't look out of place either. We'd probably have to pay over the odds to get him (has a while left on his contract, and is obviusly one of Brighton's better players), but there's a lot of scope for improvement there, especially under someone like Sven.
Jackirius Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 Tsabalala? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3354522/Nottingham-Forest-have-got-South-Africa-midfielder-Siphiwe-Tshabalala-on-trial.html SOUTH AFRICA midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala is having a week-long trial with Nottingham Forest.Tshabalala, who hit the World Cup's opening goal, hopes to seal a £1.5m move from Kaizer Chiefs. £1.5 million isn't a bad price for him.
singinpete Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 Kevin Phillps. If he had the chances Dyer had on saturday we'd have battered Preston. Fabio Di Silva if he's after a left back (loan) Simon Cox is a good shout.
RizLCFC Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 Kevin Phillps. If he had the chances Dyer had on saturday we'd have battered Preston. Fabio Di Silva if he's after a left back (loan) Simon Cox is a good shout. Always wanted him at City would swap him any day for Howard. He's different then any other striker we've got and I still think he can do a good job at this level. On SSN he just said he wants a move away from Birmingham, linked with Celtic. He'd be cheap aswell.
StanSP Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 Why get Phillips? He'd want extortionate wages despite the fact he's about 55 years old. We could get so much better quality and I don't think Sven would aim for players near the end of their careers who just want their final pay-check.
singinpete Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 Phillips is more prolific than anyone we have at the min and i doubt his wages would be too high at the age he is.
StanSP Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 Phillips is more prolific than anyone we have at the min and i doubt his wages would be too high at the age he is. Yakubu - 1 game, 1 goal. That's 100%. That's prolific. Anyway, I just don't think Phillips would be the right option as if we get promoted, I don't think he'll have what it takes in the Premier League. Yes he scored loads in previous seasons but obviously that was when he was younger. He also scored a lot of last-minute goals as sub appearances in recent seasons. I wouldn't want to pay a lot simply for a player to be used as a sub.
singinpete Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 Your probably right, just think he's worth a punt.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 Kevin Philips is available if the right offer came in. I wondered what the feelings were. He knows where the back of the net is, so I think he could be a good addition.
DB11 Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 He knew where the back of the net is. He's a bit old, isn't he?
Liamlcfc1 Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 37 no thanks when we can get younger players in the prem
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 Haha. Another suggestion gets disregarded based purely on age.
singinpete Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 yeah that great forwrad we had from the prem, errrm........................Bednar i think his name was.
Ajax Treesdown Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 Lots of Jamie O'Hara rumours flying about.......
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 If we are willing to pay 50k a week for Yakubu, I think we could do worse than get Phillips. He wouldn't command that sort of wage, & IMO is a far better option than either Fryatt was or Waghorn is in terms of finishing. Yes I know that Waggy is out of sorts & works his socks off but at the moment he isn't doing it for us, and if the club are serious about mounting a huge push for the premier league this season then Philips could be exactly what we need.
