MikeyT Posted 10 January 2011 Posted 10 January 2011 From the O.S Speaking after City's impressive and fully-deserved 2-2 draw with Manchester City in the FA Cup yesterday, midfielder Richie Wellens talked about the intensity of the game, his pride at the team's performance and his thoughts on the replay. Wellens was one of the Foxes' standout performers against the Premier League giants, dominating possession and dictating play whilst getting under the skin of the likes of Carlos Tevez and Nigel De Jong with his tenacious approach. The former Manchester United midfielder excelled against Roberto Mancini's side and admitted that, although the game took a bit out of him, he was extremely proud of the team's performance. "I am a little bit tired. Obviously playing against one of the most physical teams in the country takes it out of you, but we stayed focused and worked hard for 90 minutes. It's mixed emotions for me really, we didn't want a replay, but to get a draw against one of the best teams in country is an achievement. "It could have gone both ways, we had a lot of pressure, but they had a couple of chances at the end when they could have nicked it. We knew if we really went for it, Man City would have done us on the counter attack because they have such quality players." Wellens was on the receiving end of several strong Man City challenges, including what appeared to be a stamp from Nigel De Jong, but the Foxes favourite doesn't believe it was intentional and has no problems dealing with the physical side of the game. "Physically, you look at all the players that they have got, they are all strong and tall, they are fit and quick, so you have got to be switched on and when the battle comes, you have to try your best to win every single battle. We contributed to the physical side of the game really well. "There was a little stamp on my hand. I don't think it was deliberate, I hope it wasn't anyway. You have just got to take the bumps and bruises." Looking ahead to next week's replay at Eastlands, Richie believes that the tie is alive and kicking and hopes that Leicester can cause another cup upset. "You would say Manchester City are the favourites for that game, but Blackpool only got beat 1-0 and we finished above them last season. We see ourselves as not too far off them in terms of what we can do, and they could have easily sneaked a draw. Accidents are just waiting to happen. We knew this weekend that there would be five or six shocks and hopefully we might still be one of them.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 10 January 2011 Posted 10 January 2011 Was in K block, great atmos.. The second goal was one of the best feelings iv had in football for a long time, especially when we did the "poznan", the look on the Man City fans faces was priceless. they were mute for the rest of the game after that goal went in.To play against a team of world class players like they have and tbh match them at the very least, was fantastic. I managed to vid the Bamba goal.. I`ll try n utube it later and post it on here. Typical young lad taking the piss out of something and knowing nothing about why their fans did that.
I am Rod Hull Posted 10 January 2011 Posted 10 January 2011 Neil Young, going to do it 24th minute, coincidence that they scored 23rd. Clapped after they sung only one Neil Young. I think

I think Which makes it worse- you knew the reason they done it, yet you copeid them taking the piss. I stood and applauded all the way through it. But yes it was a coincidence them scoring so close to 24th min
Dylan Posted 10 January 2011 Posted 10 January 2011 Anyone know whether I can see today's East Midlands Today again online or something? Or whether its on again? Apparently I was on one of the prediction thingys.

JEEEEEZ ! Get a grip man... O_o
Kitchandro Posted 10 January 2011 Posted 10 January 2011 Which makes it worse- you knew the reason they done it, yet you copeid them taking the piss. I stood and applauded all the way through it. But yes it was a coincidence them scoring so close to 24th min We respected it when they did it in the 24th minute. And they have done it at quite a few games since they played Poznan in the Europa League. It was not meant as a disrespect to Neil Young, just a bit of banter with their fans. None of their fans have had a problem with it, in fact most have said they hope we start doing it regularly.
Raj Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 I was told to "sit down" by a couple of old dears behind me. I wasnt even persistantly standing up...only when we were attacking. Found it quite funny that all game they never said owt(ie cheer, applaud etc) but in the 70th odd minute they felt the need to tell me to sit down!! I felt like a naughty schoolboy!!! Thats what happens when you let us common L1ers into the other posher sections!!! WE ARE SCUM! P.s Great game great performance ,yes the poznacy thing was great, they brought loads of great fans, the atmosphere was great, blah blah blah... Up the Shitty! xx
Raj Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 http://www.mcfc.co.uk/Video/Match-highlights/Leicester-v-City-extended-highlights Good highlights here from ManC's website.
MC Prussian Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 http://www.mcfc.co.u...nded-highlights Good highlights here from ManC's website. I really like Manchester City's website - so much nicer to the eye than most others. And the videos are in a much higher resolution, too. And you don't even have to sign up to watch them!!! King Power - sort it out!
OzFox Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 And the videos are in a much higher resolution, too. And you don't even have to sign up to watch them!!! I was thinking the same. Doesn't appear to freeze up every few seconds either
Haydos Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Yeah looks class tbh, but what else would you expect. Anybody know the reason a great deal of clubs have the same website design (Ours is the same as most other football league clubs). I'd love one like MCFC.
Finnegan Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Cost. Same company do them all, I assume it is cheap.
Haydos Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 That's the obvious answer. How much does a website like that cost to build and maintain though. Surely it can't be a massive step up for a personalised one. It's would only be a new design after all, the cost of updating would still be similar
Finnegan Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 It's not just building, it's running, hosting and updating. Compared to buying players it may seem cheap but football is a business and a club recording 14m lossns have to pinch pennies somewhere.
Manwell Pablo Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Decent performance from the lads, unfortunatly I've lived through to many FA/League Cup false dawns to think that we can carry form like that into our next league game but fingers crossed we can build on this.
Haydos Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Makes sense I suppose. I would have thought the Thai's would like all their big cheese friends back home to see a nice, top quality site if they ever check us out. Surely it can't be more than 5 figures, but again I know next to nothing about this Appearance is everything as 'they' say...
marbelladave Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Decent performance from the lads, unfortunatly I've lived through to many FA/League Cup false dawns to think that we can carry form like that into our next league game but fingers crossed we can build on this. As you say, for Sunday's result/performance to really mean anything it has to translate into an improvement into our league form, particularly away from the Walkers. One additional plus was the contribution of Bamba, he might take a few games to bed into the team but there is no denying the impact he made with his enthusiasm and positive play. Preston on Saturday will be a real benchmark, a game we could win if we play anything close to our best but the kind of away performance we have seen rather too often lately could leave us flat and taking nothing from the game.
Thracian Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 My Mrs hates the footy and buggers off to do something else when I'm watching city. She was screaming more than me when the second one went in yesterday. Glad you both had a good time!!
Raj Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Re Website. The same company does most if not all of the clubs. Its the old NTL company and they have a license with the FA to do it! Man iy had to pay em milions to opt out and have their own done...as you can see its alot better!

Just because they're rich they shouldn't be allowed to buy themselves out of agreements like that. (If this license is correct as you say) Other clubs have done similar it seems (man u/chelseas etc). It seems a very elitist.
