Being an away fan in the home end...?

Just got thinking about the fa cup replay with regards to our allocation and whether it would go to general sale, it got me thinking about sitting in the home end.

I've never done it before and to be honest I don't think I could, I imagine I'd find it very difficult to keep my mouth shut and my emotions to myself, but I suppose how normal you can be depends on who it's against and where you sit.

Still, I think I'd probably fear for my safety if I was on my own, not so much during but maybe right after walking out the ground.

Who has actually done it before then?

My dad was friends with a couple of Cov fans, and we'd get seats together in the home ends of our respective grounds, so I was more familiar with the home end of Highfield Road than the away end, luckily I was too young to get in major trouble if I forgot myself. Other times, I've borrowed a season ticket to watch Man Utd v Leicester (the one where Muzzy had to retake a penalty) and that was alright, if a little awkward because we lost 2-0 and I was in the Northampton end for the win there in League One (after having to make up a fake address to buy a ticket).

Northampton gave me the most trouble as the Cobblers fans decided to actively sniff out Leicester fans and report them, so I really had to keep myself under control when I found myself hovering off my seat when Lloyd made it 2-1.

My advice would be to not sit with the vocal support, try the posh stand or the family stand, and basically just act like a miserable bastard all match, every ground has them after all.

Don't do it, I did it for the Chelsea cup game 4-3 as I was living in London at the time.

It was fooking difficult, I was right next to the Leicester fans who were having an amazing time while I was having to sit on my hands and shout silently, being surrounded by fairly vocal Chelsea fans. If I remember correctly there had been a bit of trouble before the game too.

I was almost glad they scored the fourth I don't think I could have coped with penalties.

Having said that it was a great game and I'm glad I went.

You may have trouble getting tickets, I was only able to get them for Chelsea because I had a London address and had never used it to buy City tickets. As for being on your own, you will probably be safer than a group, I went with some non Leicester supporting friends so it was easier to control myself than had I been with a few other Leicester fans.

Just a thought, I'm going to the blades match in feb with a few mates. I'm at uni in sheffield so how would we go about getting tickets?

Same here mate, think there might be tickets on the turnstiles but I think I'm getting mine posted up, only way of being sure.

Although saying that, I tried doing that for Barnsley, but the ticket spent 10 days in the post despite being firs class mail so I ended up paying for another ticket on the turnstiles.

That's a whole different kind of annoying :P We got them on the turnstiles last season at Hillsborough but ended up paying £30 odd quid each. Hopefully a bit cheaper this time, i'll figure something out.

I'd imagine it won't cost that much.

I don't know if you've seen but utd have like 5 or 6 student fixtures which are £5 for students in the home end. I debated doing that, but going in the away end is a must really, no doubt there should be a student price for away fans thats not far off home fans so it shouldn't be too bad.

Are you a poly or a cvnt?

Haha, poly mate. I'll just check when they release the ticket price info. I've got mates that often go down bramalll lane for the student games. Never fancied it myself, don't have any interest in following a team in the same division.

Gotta be in the away end as well :scarf: Wouldn't be worth it to sit there in silence for 2 hours.

i sat in the forest end last season with my mate (who forest fan) wasn't a good game to see when we got beat 5-1, best bit for me was a leicester fan getting her tits out

You be alright if you can keep quiet, a bit different but I ended up in the derby end of wembley for the playoff final. I had to keep a little quiet when we scored but because I was behind the goal they all stood up to moan at the bad defending and I managed to blend in with a almost silent cheer. But I there was a fellow city fan who got sniffed out and was escorted out within the first 10 mins of the game.

I sat in the Holte End at Villa Park when we beat Villa in the cup (2-1 I think) under Taylor. It wasn't that difficult keeping schtum when we scored, though I think most people around me twigged I was a City fan. I suspect it helped that I was sat with a mate who was a Villa fan.

Just don't wear colours!

I'd imagine you'll be ok. They'd be more likely to be keeping an eye on people with Leicester addresses going in the home end rather than people with Sheffield addresses in the away end. You don't usually get many home fans choosing to sit with the away fans!

I can't remember doing it with Leicester, but I went with my Southampton supporting mate to Brentford vs Saints in the home end. I took great delight in celebrating Brentford's equaliser in about the 85th minute

I was at Northampton in the home end and nearly caused a ten man brawl as they found out I was Leicester lol.

Was in hospitality seats so managed to blag it.

I reckon they will go to general sale mate, reckon they'll give us 5000? More than enough!

Was in the home end for the Hull game the other week, it's really hard not to soak up the atmosphere of the fans around you. I couldn't shake of the "one of those days" feeling even though we were winning! Though admittedly that wasn't helped by the fact that it was a pretty dull game.

Strangely I have had a few experiences many years ago a Man City fan took me a game at Maine Road to see Leicester and we stood with the Man City fans, very interesting when we scored and I just had to control my emotions. I got talking to a guy who went one week to Man City the other to United, so when Man City scored I just kept my hands in my pockets and sort of hinted it wasn't a bad goal!

My last trip to Filbert St was with the York City fans in FA Cup 3rd Rd. I lived only 200 yds from York City ground so me and my 2 boys came down with the 12 coach load of fans. It was a great day out we won 3 nil Cresswell scored (ex York City) so the York fans applauded this. Very strange coming out of the ground, being abused by City fans and we were the only 3 happy fans on the trip back!

As a teenager I went to Elland Rd with my Dad a Leeds fan, he sat with the Leeds fans whilst I went to the away end, I followed the signs to the standing area, paid got in and surprised to see so many City fans. 2 minutes later the chant went up UNITED; UNITED. I found a steward and got a fairly quick transfer to the pen next door where the away support was.

Being an exile is interesting as getting tickets in the away end is not easy. I just need us to qualify for Europe and get us a tie with my local team here, Valencia!

I did it once at Spurs and we battered them. Very frustrating.

Did it again at West Ham and we got battered. Even more frustrating.

Also did it at Chelsea. Stood in the old Shed and spent most of the time shitting bricks. Don't remember much about the game

Overall, I wouldn't recommend it!

They have to offer us 15% of the capacity

thats 0.15 *47,726=

7 158

minus a few for segregation should leave us with an allocation of nearing 7000.

And i'm also not sure Man City will sell out there allocation so maybe they'll give us a few more?:fc:

I've sat in the home end as an away supporter many times. And I've found that I can sacrifice cheering for a massive dose of smugness written all over my stupid face.

I've never done it and don't plan to! I just don't think i would be able to control myself!
