Formula 1 thread 2011

At least Hamilton has a reason to be angry. The stewarts are a joke in F1.

Schumacher made the move up the hairpin twice but the driver in front (Rosberg and Hamilton) knew to let him through so nothing came of it. Massa however virtually parked in front of Hamilton and so he gets a penalty. Stupid. This is motorsport ffs, crashes will happen when people try and overtake. Massa should have got a penalty for blocking in Quali anyway so he shouldn't even of been there.

lol

Oh, so if a driver doesn't just let your boy through it's a 'joke'?

Hamilton's conduct today was indefensible. Absolutely indefensible. Should be looking at a ban or a points deduction - a meaningless 20 second penalty is crazy.

Indeed, if Massa hadn't turned in when he did he would have ended up in the outer armco.

To suggest Hamilton had the line is ridiculous in the extreme. Hamilton needs to realise that sometimes (indeed, often) it's not EVERYONE ELSE'S fault.

In fact he blames everyone else far too much, which is why, even though he's a British driver, I couldn't care less if he never wins another GP.

Why does it always have to be completely black and white (excuse the pun)?

The Massa incident was mostly his fault, the Maldonado one wasn't. Stop being ridiculous.

Should Di Resta be getting a ban too, Asha? Cause really Hamiltons incident with Massa is the only one he take some of the blame, the incident with Maldanado is nothing to do with him.

Massa shouldn't even of been there on the track, since he should of been penalised for clearly blocking Hamilton in Qualifying.

If it'd been the other way around and Hamilton had blocked Massa then it would have been a penalty.

You can kind of see where Hamilton's frustration is coming from. I'm sure some don't see it the same but for me his aggression and attack minded driving are a breath of fresh air. Ok he doesn't get it right every time but that's going to come with the territory. Today's race is near impossible to overtake, almost any other track and Button and Alonso would have had Vettel immediately. You've got to try something. Over the past few seasons though it does seem to have got to the point where he has a reputation that almost presumes him in the wrong whenever there's contact. I'd be much less likely to watch F1 without drivers like him.

If they were to impose a ban for this tiny incident you may as well say goodbye to overtaking, drivers will be far too scared of receiving a ban to try and overtake anywhere apart from straights.

These races are boring enough without refuelling.

Also on that basis, should Di Resta have a double length ban for doing it twice?

lol knew this thread'd be spicy today, haha.

Hamilton had a very, very poor race. I'm not sure about the Maldonado incident but the stewards were bang on with the Massa decision. Not really sure what's going on in his head, really, he completely lost the plot afterwards and should know better than to react like that.

Seb is the luckiest boy in the world today, though. Should have been an absolute cake-walk for JB, had a much better drive today and just got ridiculously unlucky - twice. Great showing for Kobayashi though, next stop the podium! Can't wait!

I'm not just WUMing here, I honestly believe Hamilton should be banned

If you're not WUMing you're retarded, heh. I'm by no means a Hamilton fan, in fact I think he's - at best - a little bland and at worst completely boring (and I abjectly refuse to EVER self-identify as British.) Of course he gets bias over here due to being the best UK driver (well, in the majority public opinion, anyway) but at the same time he's clearly not some excessively dangerous and unsporting fiend, he just got frustrated today and it all went to his head. If Schumacher had made either of those attempted passes in his prime you'd just be shrugging it off as racecraft, no doubt.

Kobayashi's probably done worse n'all and been lauded for his 'bravery' and fight. You're just pissy because your Brazilian bum-boy cocked up on debris and blew it after losing his track position.

Oh, and for all of you Brit Boy fans who were criticising Fernando's post-championship reaction in Abu Dhabi, I hope you realise that you're supporting the most pathetic little bitch in the sport. lol Fact.

Yes, not WUMing at all. lol

Edit: Oh, and, Hamilton - moments after calling the other drivers "fricking stupid" and half-heartedly playing the race card, "I'm just going to keep my mouth shut." lol Okay.

Without Hamilton I very much doubt I'd be watching F1. Jenson's a great driver but he's not very exciting to watch. I like the look of Di Resta for a future "one to watch" though.

Monaco is just a shit circuit, only on the calendar for the glamour. No point in racing there if you just get penalised for actually trying to race.

Well from a modern racing point of view, it is. Most of the drivers and fans prefer the likes of Spa over Monaco.

Monaco's just "tradition."

Oh maybe from a racing point of view but it can throw up drama like this weekends. Couple that with the skill it takes to drive then you can't even think about calling it shit.

(Not sure if he was saying it was a shit circuit or a shit race :S )

In all honesty it's been one of my favourite circuits to watch a race at, but this weekend was marred by multiple crashes, delays through lack of infrastructure to get things sorted, red flags, tyre change rules, penalties for overtaking attempts because it's not possible to overtake normally, etc. I really wouldn't miss this race if it was removed from next year's calendar.

The Bahrain Grand Prix will go ahead this year after Formula 1's ruling body, the FIA, voted in favour of reinstating the race on Friday.

The race was scheduled to open the 2011 season in March, but was postponed due to the unrest in the country.

A decision was expected on May 1, but the FIA decided to give Bahrain until today before making a decision on the future of this year's race.

On Friday, the governing body's World Motor Sport Council met in Barcelona to vote, and gave the green light for the Bahrain Grand Prix to take place this year.

The event has been given an October 30 date, which is likely to mean the Indian Grand Prix moves to December 4 or December 11, the latest finish to a season since 1963, although the FIA did not confirm the date for the race.

The season will also comprise a record 20 races.

I'd be really annoyed if i'd booked flights to India . Hate Bahrain, boring featureless track

Really? I love it. It's such a beautiful track in a unique location. Plus the Ferrari seems to go quite well there in the past. Even on the game, it's my favourite track to drive - it flows so eloquently :D

Obviously it's been cancelled again this year but I'm looking forward to its' reappearance next year.

In regards to Canada, Fernando has set the fastest time in P2 with Felipe third, so really hoping this weekend is the start of the comeback for the Scuderias. Vettel visited the 'Wall of Champions' earlier too :)

Posted

Honestly thought Felipe could've nicked 2nd if he'd taken the shorter run to the line, he always seemed to peel of to the racing line on the left even on his last run.

Maybe :/

Really happy with Qualifying though. Confident Fernando can kill Vettel right at the start.

Ferrari are back and in with the best chance of winning this weekend. Fail to do so, and I can't see anything other than a Vettel championship. It's times like these on tracks where Red Bull aren't completely dominating that the opportunities need to be taken to close the gap.

This. There's a reason why they call it Bore-rain.
