FoxyPV Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 That made me laugh quite a bit. I daresay he fairly shit himself seeing a car coming around the corner.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 19 June 2011 Posted 19 June 2011 BBC Might Drop F1 in 2013 Another sport to be scooped up by crap Sky commentary and adverts when the interesting stuff is happening. Or worse, ITV.
Brainy Posted 19 June 2011 Posted 19 June 2011 Hopefully not true although Sky could probably match, or even improve on what the beeb do in terms of features. Plenty of negatives for it though
Asha Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Adverts during the race are completely shit. Pretty much everything the BBC do with the sport is absolutely brilliant. Take Canada, how likely do you think ITV would have cut the coverage during the suspended race and stuck the corrie omnibus on instead or something? It mentions the 'cost per head' of keeping it on the bbc, I mean, I'd be happily prepared to pay 20 quid a year to keep it on the bbc...don't know about anyone else mind. If everyone felt that way I guess there wouldn't be a problem
stix Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 F1 with adverts was shocking before. Would be even worse now as the developments this year and the introduction of DRS & KERS has made the sport alot more exciting and eventful. would be interesting to see how many incidents viewers would of missed live this season if there were adverts. i would predict quite a few! EDIT: Some of what Martin Whitmarsh thinks about F1 coverage moving away from the BBC http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/tomcary/100017397/whitmarsh-hits-out-at-bbc-axes-formula-one-article/
Ford Super Sunday Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 The article by the Times was the most wonderous piece of scare-mongering in the world, which worked a treat. It's been deconstructed on various other forums. There are so many inaccuracies it's untrue. For a start the contract is not worth £300m, it's worth nearer £200m. In addition it does not cost the BBC £3m per race, and viewing figures have been woefully under estimated. It's a quite shameful piece from the Arts Editor of the Times, who has a reputation for being inaccurate. It's also a shameful piece from the Murdoch press, who now Murdoch wants a slice of the F1 action, will now acknowledge that it actually exists. The BBC IS paying too much for F1, that's true. £40m per season is a lot when your annual sports budget is about £200m. With the Licence fee frozen then it's a fact that they cannot maintain that cost for five more years. Their coverage is excellent, and miles better than what was ITV, especially as it's Formula 1 on the BBC, not the Lewis Hamilton Show, which is what ITV like to call it. FOM would be stupid to send F1 to satellite too. Not only do their sponsors want as much exposure as possible, the viewing figures for races would plummit. The BBC need to reduce their F1 costs, like they do in most other sectors due to the cuts, but unless ITV are in a much better financial state, I can't see them forking out what the BBC currently pay.
Swalker Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 After last weeks amazing show, amazing drive from Button I'm hoping for another button win today and then pressure is on Vettel. COME ON JENSON
Nick Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Don't like Red Bull but I would jizz my pants to see Kobayashi in that good a car. Sod Rosberg! He won't leave MB for a while I fancy. Agreed.
Finnegan Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 No bullshit, I literally fell asleep during that race. Shame Alonso couldn't have ousted Vettel.
Nick Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 No bullshit, I literally fell asleep during that race. Shame Alonso couldn't have ousted Vettel. I powered down with 20 laps to go. Not a great advert for F1 after last week.
Asha Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Very dull race. Was hoping Fernando would eventually be in the mix but Vettel was comfortable at the end. Even my ridiculously optimistic self can't see past Vettel now for the title. Three failures to finish and he'll still lead the championship comfortably. Domination.
sdb Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 I too fell asleep. F1 when it's not good is very not good.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Worst GP ever. The most exciting it got was when Schummy lost his front wing.
Wymsey Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Agree, certainly wasn't one of the best I've ever seen.
Asha Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Worst GP ever. Not quite. I don't think anything will ever surpass Indianapolis '05 in that respect.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 By all reports this kid is a special talent Red Bull are investing a lot of time and money in to him, he has being driving for red bull on the practise days for experience. Daniel Ricciardo DANIEL Ricciardo yesterday joined Mark Webber as an Australian grand prix racer. "It's pretty, pretty exciting," Ricciardo told the Herald Sun exclusively from Britain after confirmation that he will race for Hispania in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in just over a week. "It's awesome, just awesome." The news came a day before Ricciardo's 22nd birthday and as he was at Heathrow Airport leaving for Budapest to continue his challenge for this year's Formula Renault 3.5 championship. Ricciardo won a race place with the tailender Hispania team after impressive work as the Friday test driver with Toro Rosso. He is replacing Indian driver Narain Karthikeyan, who has been outpaced all season by his Italian team leader Tonio Liuzzi. Ricciardo has often outpaced the Italian-based team's regular racers, Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari, leading to speculation he would steal a race place on the Toro Rosso team before the end of the year. His full-scale F1 call-up has come early and he has been loaned by Red Bull to Hispania. "To make the first one at Silverstone, it's great," Ricciardo said. "It's a circuit I know well and it's just up the road from my second home in Britain."
Amin Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 I'm pretty happy about this deal because my favourite driver (Buemi) was in the firing line, but now he and Alguersuari can relax and get on with their season without having to look over their shoulders. I also think Ricciardo has the potential to be a very good driver, how good I'm not sure, but don't expect much from him in the Hispania.
Joeb.lcfc Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Looking like this is gonna be a good race Think it'll be: Hamilton,Webber,Vettel/Button
shen Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Terrible mistake by McLaren there. Unfortunate for Button.
Joeb.lcfc Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 As long as Vettel doesnt win i'm happy but that was a bad mistake mclaren
Finnegan Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Harsh for Jenson. And Koba. Great result for Alonso, though, fair play to him - great to see him getting a competitive car again because he's a fantastic driver - possibly the best on the grid on even terms.
I am Rod Hull Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Cracking race.. The last lap was unreal with Vettel - Webber and Hamilton - Massa scraps...
Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Harsh for Jenson. And Koba. Great result for Alonso, though, fair play to him - great to see him getting a competitive car again because he's a fantastic driver - possibly the best on the grid on even terms. I'd second that. Vettel's good, but he seems to lack a little in courage (I'm talking in comparison to other F1 drivers, not you or I) as seen at Canada and in some respects today. Doesn't like to take risks. Though who's to blame him, he can probably finish 2nd/3rd/4th in all the remaining races and still be champion.
Finnegan Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 To be fair to Vettel, Alonso has a lot more experience.
