Ric Flair Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Got my reservations about Ricardo, decent keeper no doubt. But the Championship is pretty physical, will he fancy it at 34? Same age as Given. My only reservation about him is he's not played much football in the past 18 months but there's no obvious explanation for any decline in form from him as he was Portugal's number 1 until 2008/9. Weale is good enough for me anyway for now, i'd be concentrating on an experienced centre half and some competition for midfield and upfront.
Babylon Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Think the stumbling block is the fact we dont want that come into effect till after 28 days Ha... come on there could be a million reasons why he hasn't come here. That's just pure guess work. Man City won't let go Man City want a replacement Man City want more wages Prem teams want him He doesn't want to come here
cc_star Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Twitter has all dried up, with nothing substantial being said for ages http://twitter.com/#.../search/%23LCFC I think its awaiting the next informed tweet from Stringer, or FootballAgentPM
bluefox82 Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 BBC SPORT........................................ 1345: A few of you are asking about a possible Sven-Goran Eriksson swoop for Manchester City's second-choice keeper Shay Given but my understanding is there is no chance of the Republic of Ireland international joining Leicester, or anyone else today. City got left short between the sticks by an injury to Given last season when they had loaned Joe Hart out to Birmingham, and they are not going to run the risk of the same happening again this campaign. Given to stay, until the summer anyway.
LeicesterLuke Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 No chance of this happening im afriad. Skysports.com understands Leeds are poised to sign Manchester City goalkeeper David Gonzalez. - Follow me on Twitter @skysportspeteo There not going to let 2 goalkeepers out!

nickelbyfox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 I know he might not come here, but they honestly they cant possibly keep him at City and he cant even start in a bloody FA Cup game! He must be raring to go anywhere

Mancini either agrees that or he doesn't.
StanSP Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 I know he might not come here, but they honestly they cant possibly keep him at City and he cant even start in a bloody FA Cup game! He must be raring to go anywhere They can do what they want and Given can just hope that Hart gets injured so he gets some playing time!
nickelbyfox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 They can do what they want and Given can just hope that Hart gets injured so he gets some playing time! Well technically they can do what they want of course, he has a contract with them, but doubt after the way he has been talking would be fully committed even if he got a chance! Personal opinion of course, and in terms of confidence not getting a start against Notts County has to be pretty much rock bottom imo
artursteppe Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 New rumours suggest that if Mancini brings in the Cagliari goalkeeper, then Arsenal and Villa will probably make a move for Given.

Haydos Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 If Arsenal are interested it would clear the way for Almunia to come to us Almunia would be a class signing.
lcfcnoely Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Why are we still talking about given? Its not going to happen !
themotivator Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Why are we still talking about given? Its not going to happen ! thats exactly the sort of comment that was being posted repeatedly just before we signed yakubu. not saying its likely to happen, but that theres no point in ruling out moves like this these days, because anything is possible. ps. :sge:
Joe. Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 If Arsenal are interested it would clear the way for Almunia to come to us Where the hell have you got Almunia from?! Wenger's already said he wants to keep him for a start.
cc_star Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Where the hell have you got Almunia from?! Wenger's already said he wants to keep him for a start. Just around the rumour machine and a manager saying they want to keep someone is usually a negotiating tactic, its not like he said 'he's going nowhere' Fingers crossed it's not to us, and as no official or semi-official sources have picked up on it - I'd say its highly unlikely anyway, thankfully.
Babylon Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Reporter on twitter now saying man city considering loaning him to us or holloway as a replacement has been lined up.

Leicfox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Reporter on twitter now saying man city considering loaning him to us or holloway as a replacement has been lined up. Blackpool won't pay more than 10k a week towards his wages though.
