Shay Given....

SSN Transfer clockwatch:

It looks like Shay Given is set to join Sven-Goran Eriksson's revolution at Leicester. We've seen plenty of cash today and the 'keeper is now 1/6 on in our transfer specials to join the Championship outfit.

He's less likely to go Spurs than come here. Man City have already said they won't sell to a rival, and they also want available on call back, so a loan deal suits them better. And it's not like they need the money from Spurs.

reports that spurs have put a 4m bid in for him.....

If he did sign for Spurs, he'd be in a same situation he is at Man City, bench warming, Gomes is a massive fans favourite at the Lane. :dunno:

I really hope this happens hes a great keeper and he shouts at the back four thats what we need weales far to quite. I do feel for weale though because it looks like hes going to be warming the bench for the rest of the season.

I don't understand.

29th Jan Mancini comes out and says "Shay is going nowhere as we can't replace him." (That was yesterday)

If something happens to Hart they couldn't get him back - at least not for the first 28 days.......

Yet we are all sat here listening to the rumour mills......... has something changed?

I'd love this as much as the next 50k of Leicester fans but am a little confused.........

Player power. Given's said he'd rather play first team football in our league than sit on the bench at City...

I could be wrong, but I think Mancini was maybe talking about losing him permanently to a club like Spurs etc. I think a loan with a 24 hour call back to a non prem team rival could still be on the cards and it is very hard to keep a player happy once they said they want to get first team football somewhere. Given could be forcing Mancini to think again, plus it could actually benefit Man City as they get a keeper playing regularly and available in 24hours if Hart gets injured. The deal, even though crazy for us, makes sense!!

Hold on to your hats. Not saying that it's definately going to, BUT, this could well happen with the next few days.

Define 'few days' Bert. My understanding is the window is open for the next day and 12hrs. ;) That's less than a 'couple of'.

Thus end of my pedant.

I guess I was wishing to wake up this morning and see an Irish hero in blue.

On watching SSN this morning, I may have misheard it, and I can be corrected, but it advised that Mancini was looking at another keeper. I didn't catch the name, but I know it was indeed foreign. Any body else hear this?

All I know is, if he does replace Given, where does this put our 'loan bid', and will Man City then look to accept permanent offers, thus putting us out of the picture?

I'd love him here but if this wages thing is true then we are mugs, loaning a player off the richest club ever with them holding all the cards wot a joke!! .

iIhalf hope he goes to spurs maybe then we could get cudicini from them !

Don't think Man City will sell to Spurs, as its a 'rival' club who could challenge them for Champs League spot/Title.

It doesn't have to happen before tomorrow. The emergency loan window opens on the 8th February I think, until the 24th March.

Which is abit of a joke (Not directed at you or your post, directed at the rule) define Emergency? We have Weale a good keeper, and Logan a dodgy but 2nd choice keeper and then academy kids, Hardly an emergency in the term as we have backups, yet we'd probably still be able to get Given on the rule. Having said that if a deal wasn't tied up within this transfer window and we did get Given on the emergency loan rule then I wouldn't be complaining just making the point clubs make a mockery of the emergency loan rule.
