MrSpaM Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Theirs actually some substance to this, apparently we've put in a bid to bring him to the walkers, but it depends on wether the New York Red Bulls will allowing him out on loan, much like Galaxy did with Beckham. He's currently back in england training with Arsenal. http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/news/city-shock-bid-henry/article-3109694-detail/article.html
Babylon Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Hans Backe is the manager of the new york red bulls. Svens former assistant.
Toby or not Toby Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 We may have bid and even if they say yes I still think he will say no!
goose2010 Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 No thanks. Legs have gone. Last time I saw him play was the world cup and he looked past it to me. Seems like this would just be a signing for financial gain and not for footballing reasons if in fact there's actually any truth in story. just read that back to yourself.... the last time you saw him play was in the WORLD CUP and we play in the championship comparing the world cup to the championship is like comparing cheryl cole to beth dito! he would rip this league to bits! As most people are saying this would be fantastic and i would love every minute of it but i really cant see it happening.
crazylegs1984 Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Yes he is training with arsenal and why not I would have him here in a flash the team sheet olone would be enough to scare the other teams imagine seeing the defenders faces when they have to put up with yakubu , vassell and Henry its only for ten games until the mls starts so **** it throw caution into the wind and let's get this done . Too all you idiots out there moanin at huge names comin to the walkers think about it with names already here it would attract other big names here. So would be benificial to us majorly why write someone off before they have even pulled on the colours of the mighty blue army
purpleronnie Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Having seen Henry play in the MLS there's glimpses of greatness, but the MLS is similar standard to the championship and like the MLS our league is pretty physical, maybe a final 20 minute player? but I can't see him making a massive impact.

Yeh he must be terrible, his legs must be completely gone Sign him up

As most people are saying this would be fantastic and i would love every minute of it but i really cant see it happening. Its a matter of opinion. And sorry I believe his legs have gone and so do a lot of others on here by the way. As for the WORLD CUP he should never have even gone. Again seemed like Domenech took him on past glories over players like Nasri and Benzema. Face it the guy is finished. 12 apps 2 gls in the MLS this season, hardly fantastic in a league that's weaker the the championship.

Only kiddin, have to say it would be pretty cool if we signed him.

I don't think the MLS is weaker than the championship and its probably as physical if not more physical league.

Only kiddin, have to say it would be pretty cool if we signed him. Not many people would get picked for Barcelona...the fact they picked him and were playing him (albeit not so regularly) 9 months ago. Ludicrous that people think his legs hae gone and he wouldnt do much. Much more effective than Waghorn for the short term at least...
Nick Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Probably been posted but the truth is, I have enough friends: [1100 GMT] Leicester City have made an audacious bid to land former Arsenal and France striker Thierry Henry. Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has made an enquiry about signing the 33-year-old striker on loan during the American Major League Soccer close season. Full story: Leicester Mercury
Jackirius Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Some people are saying they don't want him, are you fvcking kidding me? He wouldn't just be about performances on the picth, but imagine the rest of the team, having a legend (not using that term loosely) playing for Leicester like Henry. Probably not much in the rumour but you must be delirious if you would not want him at Leicester, don't worry about the money, it's not coming out of your bank account.

Totally agree... but I bet if we signed about Messi you'd still get some fans on here saying they don't want him.
Far Post Gerry Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Oh Sven you little tease; stop it, just stop it. Whether we get Henry or not, what we're doing is raising our profile. If you tout yourself with the big names, people start thinking you ARE big. Okay so we didn't get Becks or Santa Cruz, but Yakubu's ears pricked up. Everyone told Man City they'd never get Kaka, and they didn't. But people stood up and took notice, and they bagged David Silva and Dzeko. Cracking work by Sven and Top!

Also this is not the first time we have been linked with top players. I think Alan Clark, during my time as a Leicester fan, may have been a record signing, not just for Leicester, but in England. In the early 1970s we very very nearly got Johann Cruyff, one of the best players the world has ever seen. Why shouldn't we be linked with top players. Too many of our fans have a small club mentality. Bring them in. The cost of Thierry Henry coming to Leicester could be covered by the extra 5000 bums on seats, and just having bigger crowds would be great for the team. I understand Henrys manager in the US is Sven's ex assistant, and he could be available for ten or eleven matches, until mid march. The whole thing seems entirely feasible to me. Bring him in Sven ( and Bernard Parker ).
Far Post Gerry Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 We nearly got Cruyff?? Superb! And I bet some people were against that too (Nah, don't want him - his legs have gone!). I remember getting all excited when we nearly signed Blomqvist from Milan, before he plumped for Man Utd. Silly boy.
purpleronnie Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Are people talking about on loan? Can't see that happening with pre season MLS coming off, and as for a permanent signing he stated he wanted to finish his career in America and live in the states.
hackneyfox Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Well if Parker isn't joining and Waghorn is off on loan then someone must be coming in.
adam1 Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 #Cough# http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=70152&view=findpost&p=1769180 The amazing foresight of adam1. Next vague certainty: we will be playing premiership football exactly 2 years from now....
cambridgefox Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Well if Parker isn't joining and Waghorn is off on loan then someone must be coming in. Time to get the Heskey thread started again me thinks
