Kitchandro Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Can you tell me what that actually means? I hear people saying this but i think its the most meaningless phrase I have ever heard. I think Gallagher could be a great player, btu he isnt physical enough and looks scared of attempting to win headers and get stuck in most of the time. Good from dead balls and has a good shot and cross, but could be so much better I think. Very frustrating player. It just means that he has the best skill on the ball. His touch and technique. He's the opposite of Dyer for example, who is an athlete, but scuffs most of what he kicks. I'd agree that Gallagher and Wellens are the best technical players.
marbelladave Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Gallagher is a quality player but like any other player he is incosistent and has his down sides like his heading, lack of bit in the tackle (if any) and lack of tracking back, but on the plus side he takes a good free kick and corners and is a skilful player (whatever that means) and seems to have a good footballing brain (again whatever that means). Like or loathe him in short whilst he pulling on the Blue shirt of Leicester City lets all get behing him. up the Foxes A very lazy post, might have been true last season, not now! Who hit the crossbar with a header against Preston? Who constently harrassed and sometimes beat Johnson before he could get at Berner? How exposed was Berner once he went off? Who tracked Johnson in behind our own center backs when he was through on Weale? He has improved out of all proportion from the player described above.
Tommy G Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 MarbellaDave you would sleep with Gally if he let you so I chose to ignore your 1 sided posts about him. Next you will telling us how you want him to "play in the hole" there's only 1 hole you want him to play in and that's yours!

Corky Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Sven has got some consistency out of him, but he still has the potential to go off the boil for a spell. Can be brilliant and frustrating in the same move.
Arkie Bennett Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 We clearly lost our way after Gallagher went off yesterday. It demonstrated just how involved he is in our forward play. I don't get this criticism about him not heading the ball. Lots of players "win" headers but have no control over where the ball actually goes. I'm happier to see Gallagher play to his obvious strengths, his excellent vision, quick thinking and accurate passing. Of course he makes mistakes, every player does, but so much of our play goes through him that he will be the player whose mistakes stand out the most.
Tommy G Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Loved his pen yday, so confident and smashed it.
ajthefox Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 really do wish this technically gifted stuff would fook off, it's like giving one person from a group of people in wheelchairs the title of fastest runner. No-one in our squad is gifted technically. Some are good, some aren't, Gallagher and maybe one or two others are slightly ahead of the majority but this phrase is bollocks and merits fook all. Rant aside, he has been improving and particularly in the last 4 or so games I have found myself giving him more praise than most because he is getting more stuck in, a la the header at Preston which was not only brilliantly done, but he came out on the wrong end of the defender, so credit to him for that. He is still a little lightweight at times, but then that probably wouldn't matter so much if we didn't have such a physically lacking squad, and as said above he is improving. It's just a bit of a shame he isn't particularly fast, between him and dyer we've got two wingers but combining the best of both would rival anything in this league imo.

Every kick Weale takes is towards Gallagher and i'd say he wins 50% of his headers just like any other player in the world would. Not sure why some Leicester fans have a problem with this but are perfectly happy for Andy King to swan around doing nothing week in week out except score the odd goal and even they've dried up recently.

So King never does anything but score occasionally? Okay then thats fair, clearly Sven is a fvcking moron for playing him.

No. Where Sven is wrong is in deploying him so far forward where he is much easier for the defenders to pick up, he is not a striker and does not have a strikers ability to get clear of his marker (if only for a second or two), in fact he can look a bit flat footed sometimes. This is why he is finding harder and harder to score as the season progresses. Playing from a deeper position he still makes the runs but naturally arrives later so is much harder to pick up, he might not get on the ball quite so often but he will be unmarked and at pace (well moving forward anyway) so he will probably score more often as the opportunities will be better and more to his liking.

I don't really get what you're saying no to? I agree with what you've just said, I am simply pointing out that although he might not have been the most effective player we have had in recent games, what the post I quoted said was very harsh on him.

Kitchandro Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 what did you say originally? heaven forbid it was too rude for the forum... Even when it's without any rudeness whatsoever my 2 pennies worth is not welcome on Foxestalk apparently. So that's that I guess

So that's that I guess Seriously.... Forthright opinions that diverge from the majority view are increasingly hard to make, something to do with the fascist nature of modern society. FFS it's the interweb, supposedly one of the few places you can say what you think. Sure exchanges can get a bit heated on occassion but that's part of the fun. At least I thought so...
Jon25747 Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 I sit in block K and there are some guys near me who ALWAYS moan and shout at Gallagher. Even today when he could have had a hattrick they were always moaning! I'll admit he isnt the perfect player but he certainly doesnt deserve the stick they give him. It depresses me that I have got about 8 more home games having to listen to them drone on and on about him. Disclaimer: I have just got back from a game which I should be elated but these miserable g*ts have really narked me off! Anyway, I definately can see a huge improvement from him under Sven
