Stadt Posted 30 September 2014 Posted 30 September 2014 Only going on memory but I believe it was 6th. Does that matter? Revenue for over 30k season tickets plus a few thousand day tickets and away fans. I can't see why anyone wouldn't want it to happen??? Unless it's the people who cringe when someone sings a song they don't like or does something they don't like. Maybe the sight of a few empty seats would cause them too much psychical pain ??? If the demand was there then yeah I'd want it to happen but at the minute it's not there. Also you've got to look at other clubs that have extended recently and what situation they're in now, Cardiff and Wolves are both in the championship with empty extensions and they are in a worse financial situation rather than "missing out on revenue".
Stadt Posted 30 September 2014 Posted 30 September 2014 We'd stand a decent chance in this league if the prices didn't increase year after year. I think we could reach 38k against Man U/Liverpool but not against anybody else.
Jace Posted 30 September 2014 Posted 30 September 2014 40k would be a good capacity for us would still sell out for the big games any bigger than that and it would be too empty for the crap games when we are next relegated. I've always said its such a shame the Bede Island Stadium didn't go ahead that would have been a perfectly designed stadium for us IMO
gazfox9 Posted 1 October 2014 Posted 1 October 2014 So going off that we have a bigger fanbase than at least two of the top seven? Not to mention the likes of Leeds, Newcastle, Aston Villa, West Ham etc.. Around 13th I could believe. 6th? Nah. I think (may be wrong)some of the logic is in being a one team county, therefore looking at the wider area potential than just the city.
Jace Posted 1 October 2014 Posted 1 October 2014 Theres a strangely high amount of Leicester fans where I live, know quite a few and seen quite a few people around recently wearing Leicester shirts too.
theessexfox Posted 1 October 2014 Posted 1 October 2014 There's surprisingly many that I meet around here too, not swathes and swathes but more than you'd expect down here.
Dan Posted 1 October 2014 Posted 1 October 2014 I think (may be wrong)some of the logic is in being a one team county, therefore looking at the wider area potential than just the city. I do think we've got a bigger fanbase than most neutrals think, but 6th biggest in the country? I'm not having that. I'm not having it that we have a bigger fanbase than at least four of Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, Tottenham, Everton, Newcastle & Leeds.
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 exactly right and as said before lets not try and sprint before we walk....its taken clubs like everton and liverpool decades to increase/move stadiums and we wont be as prolific as them for a while.. We are never going to be as prolific as them , not now or in a while.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Regardless of what happens in future seasons, this season we limited season ticket availability to ensure there were some day tickets available. That means lost revenue and money not available to offset FFP. The extra seats do not have to be stewarded if we are relegated, apart from the few games a season where we sell out. For me, I don;t get the 'big enough already' attitude. This is the kind of lack of ambition which has hindered LCFC throughout our history. Let's see how big we can become !! Spot on
Dawko Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Primary_Urban_Areas_in_England_by_population The only thing stopping us getting bigger crowds is the price of tickets. 11th largest area by population in the Country. I've been to Filbert Street with 42,000 and they had to lock the gates for the thousands left outside. 50,000 fans at £15 raises the same money as 30,000 fans at £25 Common sense really.
davieG Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 I'm all for cheaper ticket prices, who isn't but it would need a a sustained level of success or at least realistic expectation and I don't mean surviving mid table PL for us to get crowds anywhere near approaching 50K and i say that having been locked out of filbert st when we beat Man U 4-3 with the Keyworth/Law hat tricks. There's way too many distractions these days not least with every game being televised/streamed.
Jace Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Burnley at home sell out again don't think I'm going to be able to make a match this season without membership!
Freesolo Posted 5 October 2014 Posted 5 October 2014 Burnley at home sell out again don't think I'm going to be able to make a match this season without membership! Im a silver membership mate and the WB game is almost sold out not sure when it go's on genaral sale, the Sunderland game is not as bad with some seats available in almost all sections
Fox92 Posted 5 October 2014 Posted 5 October 2014 Burnley at home sell out again don't think I'm going to be able to make a match this season without membership! Personally thought the game would be the least likely to attract people, never mind completely sell out.
Babylon Posted 13 October 2014 Posted 13 October 2014 Personally thought the game would be the least likely to attract people, never mind completely sell out. Tickets were pretty cheap though compared to most games £19 in the Kop.
