sylofox Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Not sure you know, have you ever been to Elland Road? Closed top tier on their east stand is embarrassing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk And a huge kop holding 20k with 6k in would look just as stupid. You can't win on the empty seat bit as all large empty areas look bad but 2k singing under a low roof would sound better than 5k in your megga kop.

I never said a mega Kop, if you go back and look what I said, I said 10/20 rows at the back and 5/6 at the front (if possible). I doubt 25/26 extra rows of seats at one end of the stadium is going to look that bad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I give up you just don't get it FFS

I never said if would 100% be the answer to the problem which is our home atmosphere, I said it was a thought and it seems like a more worthwhile option that adding a huge extra tier on which won't get filled in the first place, yet you're saying that will solve the problem as well? This is 6 of one and half a dozen of the other!! Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And the reason the KP sounds so poor is a high roof the sound goes up and out. But a low roof would stop that improving the atmosphere. 80% don't sing in the kop anyway adding 400 more would do nothing. My point on the upper tier If the club extends means the noise made by a few will be amplified. It was a shite design like most others to start with. Never designed with atmosphere in mind. If people sing and enjoy themselves they might fight. Nice new ground but a design shite hole. Great for rugby n thats about it.

I haven't been to one "new style" ground and thought yeah there's a good atmosphere in here. That isn't a problem that's going to be fixed by just whacking new tiers on at great expense that may or may not be open if (when; god forbid) we ever drop back down to the second tier. I think making small adjustments and expansions to start with, which will raise gates and make more tickets available, would be a good starting point. If 20 years down the line we are up there and there is demand for 40-45000 every week, fair enough, gohead and stick an extra tier on. We just don't need it yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
skmanuk Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Hooligans! We create the atmosphere for the ground otherwise it would be completely flat- apart from SK1 that have recently woken up. Every week there is abuse hurled from both sets of fans, but at the end of the day, it's just banter and it adds to the atmosphere. Hang on, I'm cold, let me put my Stone Island jacket on. And it's the foul mouthed abuse that keeps many people from attending matches!

You add 10 to 15k or do nothing.
davieG Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 The stadium is designed to push all the sound towards the pitch and is why the players think it's ok to great and the fans think it's rubbish. This is also why l1 and the kop don't hear each other very well.
LCFC Rennie Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 And it's the foul mouthed abuse that keeps many people from attending matches! How about you don't sit in L1 then? Has that ever crossed you're mind?

skmanuk Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 How about you don't sit in L1 then? Has that ever crossed you're mind? How about the 4000 in P with young kids and women close by that have to listen to it! Or don't you care?

foxile5 Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 And it's the foul mouthed abuse that keeps many people from attending matches! Funny that. Didn't stop thousands and thousands attending every week for nearly a hundred years.
Jace Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Wasn't everything better in the old days? Not really the stadiums fault
foxile5 Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Wasn't everything better in the old days? Not really the stadiums fault No swearing at the football in the olden days apparently.
docho66 Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 At the end of the day, we're a family club. The atmosphere in the stadium won't improve much, even in the Prem. The new plastic fans don't know the songs and won't add much, if anything to the overall atmosphere! We would be better with the normal 23/25k IMO

Foxes_Trust Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Is there any official news on us potentially extending the stadium does anyone know? There needs to be proof of sell out crowds for the vast majority of games over a couple of seasons before seriously considering this. We have played 1 season in the Premiership in this stadium and many games didn't sell out then. Then it's a case of timing - because any ground alteration is highly unlikely to be completed over a close season, so what happens to the fans affected ?

Seems a sensible approach, just hope we sell out games for a couple of seasons as personally speaking I think the only way we will truly grow as a club is if the potential is maximised through increased gates only possible by an extension of the stadium. I'm sure with up to 23000 season ticket holders alledgedly already it IS possible
Spudulike Posted 23 September 2014 Posted 23 September 2014 It seems that we could be entering another Golden era for the club and when it eventually ends, as it always does, wouldn't it be superb to have something physical to show for it along with the memories. What better than a 'TOP' tier on the East Stand ??
