Increase East Stand capacity

I don't think the owners will care whether some of our fans will cringe should we be relegated and have 20000 empty seats, instead I think they will see 10000 more people paying money this season and every season we are in the PL.

10000 x £30 x 19 = £5.7 million.

If this current stint in the top flight is like others, it won't last much more than 5 or 6 years anyway.

What would be totally pointless would be turning down the extra revenue for around 3 years 'to see how we get on' !!

Build it and build it now !!

(on second thoughts, let the season end first !!)

Yes, and I can see it happening in the next couple of years... The owners are here to stay, we can all see that, so why not? They can definitely afford it, it will bring in more money and allow more fans to watch the team... And no one can argue with the prices of season tickets this season, the highest was a £16 increase. and I can see them staying the same or coming down slightly if this goes ahead

When did ambition become a byword for stupidity? 32-odd thousand is perfectly fine for us at the moment. Spending X amount on expanding capacity when we're not a settled Premier League side who have consistently filled the place year in, year out would be downright foolish.

exactly right and as said before lets not try and sprint before we walk....its taken clubs like everton and liverpool decades to increase/move stadiums and we wont be as prolific as them for a while..

3more losses amd we'll be back to 20,000!!!!

I doubt it. If all season ticket holders turn up and the away end is say 80% full, we are still looking at 27 k.

Many clubs in their first season in the Premiership regularly sell out, followed by a big dip in attendance the 2nd season in the Prem.

We aren't a big enough club to fill a larger stadium so let's stay as we are with the ground and not get into being above ourselves.

Agreed

Cuddly Ken are you normal now?

Regardless of what happens in future seasons, this season we limited season ticket availability to ensure there were some day tickets available.

That means lost revenue and money not available to offset FFP.

The extra seats do not have to be stewarded if we are relegated, apart from the few games a season where we sell out.

For me, I don;t get the 'big enough already' attitude.  This is the kind of lack of ambition which has hindered LCFC throughout our history.

Let's see how big we can become !!

stuff

We are 5 days away from playing Burnley and tickets are on general sale and according to the OS still available, that speaks volumes that certain fans only want to go to the top games as Man Utd sold out fairly quickly compared to Burnley.

Our city isn't large enough to have a huge stadium, the fan base is right for what we have, we will never be a top 4/5 side end of.

It takes more than just building more tiers on a stand to be that big and Leicester simply won't.

As for your business plan of 10,000 seats generating £5.7 million, you are on cloud cuckoo land, have you any idea how much extending a stand will cost and the implications involved in just getting it out of the ground, your £5.7 million would be lost even before the digging started.

I'm not so sure think about Man City they didn't have that many fans when they were sent down to lower tier they seemed to have a increase of about 20k more when they became more successful and built there stadium

U wot m8?

Manchester City have always had great support they were easily getting 30,000 in the lower leagues.

Did I say it was a business plan?  Noooo, it is merely a rough generalisation for the benefit of a football forum.

I personally think Leicester could sell out a 45000 stadium often enough for it to be worthwhile.  FFP means the owners could 'invest' the money necessary to build the stadium and the extra revenue would give us wiggle room on transfer fees and wages.

Also, the Carling Stand, admittedly nearly 20 years ago, only cost £5 million.  Martin George said it only took a few years to pay for itself.  No one is talking about tearing the East Stand down either, the groundwork is there for it to be extended.

We will see who is in 'cloud cuckoo land' by whether or not the owners decide to extend or not.  If they do...

then it's you !!

If we build another 8,000, maintain our current plan on the pitch and reduce prices then it may well be worthwhile. If we don't, it'll be a waste of time and money.

We'd never get 45k

We've taken around that many to Wembley so there are (were) that many people prepared to buy a ticket and travel to London.

Unless we do it we won't know how big our potential is.

All we currently know is we could fill a ground bigger than what we currently have. By how many and by how many for games against less famous opposition:  I don't know the answer and neither does anyone else on here.

But I don't see the point in having that potential there and not realising it.

Head,nail,hit.

About 3 or 4 games a season in the Prem we would but other than that no.

The groundwork for the extension isn't in Decaulion as it would be built further out than the east stand now, probably to somewhere in line with the road/ bike sheds past the block paving.

You can't base your regular fan on the ones who make a once a year trip to see them in a final, our city just isn't big enough to get a huge fan base.

I believe that the framework for the stairwells necessary for an extra tier are already in place.  I could be wrong but I think I've read this several places over the years.

Did anyone see that market research done by a very reputable Australian company?  This company researches demographics for national governments so their words carry some weight.

Well, if my memory serves me correctly, their research indicated that Leicester had around 600k supporters in the UK.  This made Leicester the 6th biggest supported club in the country.

I can't remember the name of the company although I'm pretty sure I read the research on Foxestalk, so it is there if anyone wants to find it.

I know it is hard to believe, but even if the company got this research even half right, then we could most certainly fill a 45k ground.

I bet the owners are aware of this research.

we'd have topped over 30k season tickets this year if they were available....

Probably but that's still not 45k

So going off that we have a bigger fanbase than at least two of the top seven? Not to mention the likes of Leeds, Newcastle, Aston Villa, West Ham etc..

Around 13th I could believe. 6th? Nah.

Only going on memory but I believe it was 6th.

Does that matter?  Revenue for over 30k season tickets plus a few thousand day tickets and away fans.

I can't see why anyone wouldn't want it to happen???

Unless it's the people who cringe when someone sings a song they don't like or does something they don't like.  Maybe the sight of a few empty seats would cause them too much psychical pain ???

lol
