Stadt Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Couldn't we look to swap the family stand and the kop around to add a bit more atmosphere?
Burmesefox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 What about swapping the kop and the family stand? yeah, that was what I was saying. Can't believe more people on here haven't ever thought of that.
MC Prussian Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 I'd rather wait and see what the next few seasons bring in terms of average attendance before taking on any stadium capacity increases. Should we go down again and already plan with an expansion, that could misfire badly in terms of finances.
NewquayFox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 New tier to go around the KP adding 15/18000 seats......

Please tell me how this would improve atmosphere? As I've said I don't understand why our atmosphere has to be based around away fans. As soon as anyone brings a decent away gate L1 bottle it so the if the family stand became the Kop, we'd have no chance when Pretty much every team will bring 2,500 + next year. We're a classic example of that post MON. It will always be a risky thing to do as it's inevitable we'll end up in the 2nd tier sooner or later.

That's one aspect of the club's past that I'd love to change. Have Leicester become a more financially stable club that actually operates on steady profit, erasing all those hideous memories of letting decent players go for cheap and buying average crops at overinflated prices.
Burmesefox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Football clubs aren't in the business of making money. They have and always will be a hobby for the rich; a display of wealth. The first professional clubs were founded by wealthy benefactors and that is still the same to this day. Where once the owner was the local factory owner, now is is an oil tycoon or banker. Very few owners go into football expecting to make money out of it.

MooseBreath Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Please tell me how this would improve atmosphere? As I've said I don't understand why our atmosphere has to be based around away fans. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk A bit of competition and some humorous to-ing and fro-ing with the away fans helps the atmosphere a lot. At filbo we were right in each others pockets and that made for some great atmospheres. It wasn't just kids giving it the biggun like you get in L1, it was the full set of fans all spurred on to get involved. Ever since we moved to the new stadium a lot of fans have missed the proximity to the away fans that we had a filbo, hence calling for it to be recreated at the kp.
Leeds_Fox95 Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 It goes both ways though, because then you get games like man city where the fans sitting in L1 etc looked complete whoppers while attempting a very average poznan. I agree with you when you talk about the types you see in L1 these days, but they're hanging on to the hooligan culture which in my opinion has long gone. I don't think there's anything wrong with how the stadiums set out, I like sitting in the Kop, don't think the atmosphere is too bad in there, let all the L1 lot do whatever they want to do. Jace Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 I say knock it down and rebuild something better now we are massive and loaded
sylofox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Don't like the idea of having a two tier Kop. If they could add 10/20 rows on the back and at the front 5/6 (as somebody else has already mentioned) a bit like they did it Anfield, I think that could do no end for the atmosphere. Adding a second tier and splitting the fans up would be a burden in my opinion. Keep it one tier, but just expand it for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You wont have a 2 tier kop how many sang in the DD at Filbo? Having one lage kop would do nothing you could put 40k in it if only 2k sing it will do nothing. With a DD above you will keep the noise down and in the ground just as it did at Filbo Why would adding a second tier split up the fans? Them that want the atmosphere will stay lower. Those that don't want it will move above you could even make it the family stand lol
sylofox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 I say knock it down and rebuild something better now we are massive and loaded Me too. Try a modern 45k filbo Main stand like the old one kop and DD bigger east stand and Filbo st end.

So why in argument to you why would people want to sit in the Kop if they "didn't want the atmosphere". If they were to put a second tier on the Kop it would be a lot bigger than the old DD, you'd just loose atmosphere and the lower tier would sing one song, upper tier a different one. I just think a Kop, in a traditional sense, should be single tiered. The DD was a great place to watch football from, I'm not arguing with that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Come on City lets get this done I'm sure we could sell 30-35000 most games in the prem

Every week there is abuse hurled from both sets of fans, but at the end of the day, it's just banter and it adds to the atmosphere. Hang on, I'm cold, let me put my Stone Island jacket on.

Is there any official news on us potentially extending the stadium does anyone know?
fleckneymike Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Is there any official news on us potentially extending the stadium does anyone know? To save money, they've decided to increase the east stand by decreasing the size of every other stand.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Well when you come up with a plan to get every member of the kop to sing I will agree. But you never will as they never all sang at filbo. So an upper tier so we have a lower roof will give greater noise. You really think if we extend the ground by 10k they will all come and sing. Also if we end up in the championship the club closer the upper tier except for the big games would not look as bad as a huge 2/3 empty kop.

Closed top tier on their east stand is embarrassing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
