Eastwellfox Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 I'm against this extension as we are no Leeds, ie, almost sell out every week nevermind the opposition they're playing and due to the location of the ground, the traffic will be terrible (on top of how really bad it is now especially after games) As somebody who cant get to games every week due to distance without a season ticket its a real struggle to get match tickets at present. Clearly you are a season ticket holder... an extra 10k would solve my problem and give me an opportunity to buy for the big games.
Lestoh Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 The real issue is if we go back down and how it would affect attendance figures. You complain we don't make enough noise as a sell-out 32,000 crowd, how about as a 25,000 crowd in a 45,000 capacity stadium?
MattGamble92 Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 What like on Sunday ? Give the crowd something to shout about and the stadium will rock , as it did on Sunday. That game proved it's got nothing to do with acoustics. Even the cameras were wobbling and the commentators mentioned the noise. So yes you are right Matt about that, but you can't say no one sings anymore. I agree. I didn't say no one ever sings. Its just this theory that the only reason our atmosphere lacks what Filbert street had is the change of stadium. The change in atmosphere is down to the lack of atmosphere now created (apart from extraordinary games like Sunday and certain games last season). I'm sure some people think the Kop are this amazing stand singing non stop who we just can't hear anywhere else in the stadium. When I was sat there we couldn't even hear SK1 from SK2. Is that because of acoustics or because there was about 2 rows at the back stood up trying to get songs started?
Dan Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 It's been 3 games against very decent opposition. That's one big reason for the high attendances (credit to everyone who's been) but the owners really don't strike me as people to rush in to a big decision like increasing a stand on the basis of 3 massive games which were expected sell-outs. Burnley has about sold out though that's a cheap ticket game. I seriously cannot make my mind up on an expansion. It depends really what the owners have in mind for our team in the long-term. If the prices were cut (matchday ones in-particular) then I think it could be worthwhile, but if we play West Brom & Sunderland in November and we don't sell out then it's going to be a complete waste of money.
ty fox Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 Burnley is sold out and I tried the day after tickets were on general sale and I couldn't get two seats near each other so I couldn't take my 4yr old daughter however I don't care too much as I have my ticket and I'm doing a 520 mile round trip to come watch my beloved blue army
Harry - LCFC Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 Where's the atmosphere thread gone? Had a good look for it and couldn't find it. Pearson says the atmosphere on Sunday was "incredible" and "the best atmosphere I've ever experienced at our ground." He said the role the fans have on match days "shouldn't be underplayed" - definitely felt it contributed to the turnaround. Keep it up everyone. He didn't get asked the question btw. He brought it up himself.

Freesolo Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 How much would the KP Kop hold if it was standing? old style standing with barriers, and how much would it hold with safe standing that only hold 2 deep in each row
sylofox Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 If we went down and the club has done things right with contracts we could reduce prices. Sure we could fill the ground in the championship if we could do tickets at £20 or max £25. I am sure our owners if they extend will explore the going down factor they don't seem stupid. As for the safe standing it needs to be legal before it is even considered. We could hold on for 10 successful years and safe standing never happens. Add the seating with reduced pricing if we go down and fingers crossed we get our owners plan of Europe. Then if we are doing that regular and safe standing comes in we can increase again. Our owners have a plan if it comes off we would fill 45k. And after nearly a third increase in capacity they may be able to hold off on ticket increases. Then the increased capacity if safe standing ever happened with little cost could keep prices down again. Is liverpool 3 times bigger than Leicester yet the two clubs have nearly 3 times our capacity. They also have numerous other clubs within 30 miles. Given our owners ambition if they feel the need we should accept it. None of us know what they plan to do with our team. In ten years we may find we have a fan base like Utd slagging down teams that get a peno against us. Fvck it just rip down the east and west stands now.
Jace Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 Selling out at home to Burnley in the Premiership and yet some are still unsure wherever we need to expand or not
Stadt Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 Selling out at home to Burnley in the Premiership and yet some are still unsure wherever we need to expand or not Cheap tickets in our 4th premier league home game for 10 years is bound to sell out
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 Selling out at home to Burnley in the Premiership and yet some are still unsure wherever we need to expand or not Exactly right palIt's a no brainer if we have any ambition at all
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 I believe plans were drawn up when the stadium was built and planning permission applied for and granted, on condition something was done to create extra parking. I can't verify this though, although I definitely haven't just made it up. I think the parking issue is a red herring. I remember City only got permission to build the present stadium from the council on condition that the club provided buses from the outer suburbs to bring the fans in. Once built that never happened and I can't see any council making parking a reason for not allowing eight thousand more seats.
Freesolo Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 I think we could fill 40k against anyone in the Prem and maybe 45 to 50k agaist top teams, derbys and other big games

Not sure if they still do.
Guest Bilo Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Selling out at home to Burnley in the Premiership and yet some are still unsure wherever we need to expand or not It's still worth testing the water. The PL is still a novelty, the tickets are cheap and we're flying at the moment. £19 for a Premier League match ticket after we've just annihilated Manchester United is a no brainer. Stoke sold out every game for about three seasons; but once their fans realised that they were unlikely to achieve much more than mid-table or narrowly winning a relegation battle, the novelty wore off and sellouts became rarer. Let's not forget that Sunderland expanded their ground to hold nearly 50,000, and their average attendances barely cross the 40k mark. I'd much rather the club spent money on making the stadium a more pleasant place to be with better facilities, as well as giving the place a much needed bit of character, than 10,000 extra seats we may or may not need in five years' time.

What better facilities would you like to see rather than say upping the capacity to around 40k? Personally i see Leicesters fan base growing quicker and the club growing to i think barring a disaster we will sell out every home game this year and it only makes sense to build on the stadium a little to accommodate for these extra fans that want to see the games

Ross-Kemp Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Would it work if the owners said next week : We're offering fans a chance to renew next season at the same price as this season, if we get relegated, we will knock £100 off the price.

It has already been mentioned several times that there's an obvious spike in attendance following a promotion. Just because we've sold out 2 or 3 games against top clubs immediately after promotion it doesn't mean we should add 10k to the capacity. I'm not ruling it out completely, just saying it would be ridiculous to give the go ahead for it for at least a couple of seasons.

It's very easy to miss the start of the second half if you go for a pie. Cover up or even paint the bare breeze blocks in the concourse, improve the toilets and replace the scruffy billboards on the outside with proper cladding, preferably reinstating some of the images from our history that went with the King Power rebranding in 2011.
Stadt Posted 27 September 2014 Posted 27 September 2014 Let's extend to 50k because we sold out against Man U ! ! !
