I cant ever see Gallagher doing this...

Well you haven't been to enough games then.

Even Sven says Gallagher is better. I've seen that he's good at them myself.

Where's the Kaebi video?

Yuki is not taking Free Kicks while Gally is in the side, get over it.

To be fair, Gally's free kicks are improving.

But I still don't know why Abe doesn't take ANY setpieces, I'm sure he delivered some great balls in the WC if i remember right. Especially with Gally injured on Saturday, don't know why Abe didn't take corners :S

I agree he probably should have taken some on Saturday.

Having said that we scored 2 from setpieces.

Both players have their good and bad days. But all this fawning over Abe is just so typical. It's rather like hearing people say Wellens is our best midfield player.

Look at the stats. Those showing goals scored and assists. And see how far Abe and Wellens are ahead of Gallagher and King. Okay, the stats don't quite reflect like for like but, certainly in the case of King, they have done and Gallagher too has to assume considerable defensive responsibilities while Abe/Wellens are getting increasing freedom to attack.

It's only recently Abe has started to shoot at all and while Wellens' good form is emphasised by his now-impressive assists total, he continually passes the buck when it comes to shooting even now and that is clearly reflected in his goals scored stats. It might also be argued that our defence is less protected now than when King was there.

People just seem to set their own agenda. Gallagher has his faults but not being able to bend the ball from a free-kick isn't one of them. None of this is meant as an attack on Abe or Wellens either. Both are good players and still improving. But this Abe/Wellens can do no wrong chorus is simply unfounded. Wee've done stacks wrong this season and they've been as much at fault as anyone on occasions.

If a case had been made for varying our free-kick/corner takers it might have been worth listening. Wellens getting two assists from dead-ball situations shouted loudly enough. And I've long believed Abe should be involved too because I believe in varying what we do. But knocking Gallagher in what has been a productive year for him is so negative.

Good points.

You're so right in saying it worth considering varying set piece takers. Clubs can study Gally and say "this is what he does and this is how we stop it", but if we use someone else too, then they have to think twice as much. Also, at the minute, we can have 2-3 players standing over a freekick and they can be 95% sure that it's going to be Gally who takes it.

Oh, one more thing:

I love Kingy's finish in that video! Pretty cheeky really.

Wellens' back-heel for Bruno was the cheeky thing!

I went mental at that match and seeing L1 + K1 bounce up and down for about 10 minutes non-stop after was a wonderful sight!

Doesn't Honda and Endo have free kick priority over Yuki now for Japan? He probably hasn't taken a free kick in a match in ages.

But then again I bet every Japanese player can strike a sweet free kick, they all seem to be dead ball kings

Yeah both of them scored one each against Denmark in the World Cup. Fantastic free-kicks.

Yuki is a good set piece taker, no mistake. The comparison to Kaebi is retarded, we're not talking about videos from dodgy angles that make Abe look good - we're talking about him scoring sturdy set pieces, they aren't disputable.

That said, the manager seems them all taking set pieces every day in training. What the fuck makes us qualified to argue?
