lcfcadam Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 It's a must-win game for Sheffield United and they haven't won in 7 in all competitions. They look inept in most departments and are hovering just above the drop zone. Squad and form-wise we are a dead cert for a comfortable win. Therefore I'm afraid we will almost certainly lose 2-0.
FosseFox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 I'm off to Bramall Lane tomorrow. Odd question, but what's it like to get to/from? Thanks.
cc_star Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 A am a fan of both but, I don't think we can play Hobbs + Berner on the left side of defence, we need to either try swapping Hobbs & Bamba around or play Van Aanholt I do have reservations about playing Naughton & Van Aanholt in the same 11 though, if both go charging up the pitch we'll be horrendously exposed at the back, particularly as Bamba looks erratic and Hobbs has been found out a couple of times Weale Naughton - Hobbs - Bamba - Berner Gallagher (if fit) - Abe - Wellens - King - Dyer Yakubu Given that SheffUtd are so bad, I can't see anything other than us making hard work of it. We MUST win though if we're to have any chance of getting a run together
shailen Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 This game is the type of match where grinding out a result is really important. I predict that its going to be a scrappy scrappy game, and therefore we need to be able to get the goal we need somehow. Their strikers are not really a threat, as they havent been prolific enough. They have a good defence and we will have to know it will be hard to play through them, as i am.sure they will be set out defensively. Ie/ 11 men behind the ball
ajthefox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 With our form being pretty solid and there's being shite it's asking for a surprise but I do think we'll win tomorrow. We HAVE to really, we dropped 2 big points at Preston and anything less than a win here will be the same. If we can't beat the worst teams when they're on bad runs then we won't be going anywhere soon. C'MON YOU BLUES :scarf:
Guest Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 I'm off to Bramall Lane tomorrow. Odd question, but what's it like to get to/from? Thanks. Usually pretty easy. Especially a night game midweek. I usually park around half a mile or so away from the ground and wander up. Plenty of parking if you're driving
eye666 Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Yeates, Mattock and Marcus Bent managed by Mickey Adams... this has trouble written on it. Cept we have the Yak... feed him tomorrow night boys...
ajthefox Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Mattock is a willy puller, granted. Yeates was a nob at our place this season but what have the other two done? Adams as has been said in this thread was a very decent manager for us and Bent did alright while he was here, I always liked him anyway.
zynxus Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Weale Naughton - Hobbs - Bamba - Aanholt Abe - Wellens - King Uchechi - Yakubu - Vassel Leicester to WIN 5-2 (Yak x2, king, yuki, vassel)
Fox1651 Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Come on Leicester City - Please win and if all those going give Twattock some stick i will be very proud of you all
ajthefox Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Come on Leicester City - Please win and if all those going give Twattock some stick i will be very proud of you all I'm gagging for this mate don't you worry!!
Simmo86 Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 2-1 City Sheff Utd not playing all that bad by all accounts, just some sloppy mistakes costing them. This will not be easy, need to be on our game. With lots of the teams around us playing each other tonight, 3 points is vital!!
Ric Flair Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 We are crap at Brammall Lane usually. Mark Yeates, Joe Mattock and Micky Adams to de-rail our promotion push? I hope not, this is precisely the sort of game we must grind out a win and prove our quality. I'd be tempted to shift Berner inside to centre half after the way Mee played against Millwall. We still have nobody experienced to play the elft centre half role and I wonder if Berner could adapt and cover Van Aanholt who will inevitably play like a winger when we're on the attack. I'd also play Kingy a little deeper tonight, if this was the case. As he's a fantastic defender of the ball and stronger aerially than Abe. Adams loves his teams to bombard the box with crosses and long balls. Weale Naughton Bamba Berner Van Aan Holt Abe King Wellens Dyer Yakubu Gallagher Subs: Vassell, Hobbs, Logan, Mee, Waghorn, Oakley, Howard
The Padster Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Well I've just placed several bets on this so hoping for a win, more so as I now need to fund a new passport + train fare to P'boro for said passport. I'm currently gonna profit about £30 from £18 placed, Yak to score, Dyer to score, City to win 3-0 and City to win.
Asherz Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 dont care what anyone says pva is better than burner.. ricardo is better than weale... stop rimming these players and notice what we have bought in is better... there fore better goes into the team!
Wymsey Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 I hope we don't give away free kicks just outside the box. We all know Yeates will score
cc_star Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 dont care what anyone says pva is better than burner.. ricardo is better than weale... stop rimming these players and notice what we have bought in is better... there fore better goes into the team! You know Ricardo is better than Weale? Interesting. I'm not saying you're wrong, but knowing something about a player who's not played first team football for the best part of 4 years is pretty clairvoyant of you. Before that, I know he was an amazing continental style keeper which means he was brilliant at shot-stopping but shit (really, really shit) at crosses. On balance he was good but knowing he's better than some one who's proved to be competent (although obviously not perfect) is perhaps a stretch to far. Surely, rimming (as you put it) players simply because Sven has signed them & therefore they must be good is just as bad as people rimming current squad players because they're 'our lads' For fact fans: He signed for Real Betis in July 2007 & promptly lost his place to a trainee, Betis were relegated and Ricardo didn't regain his first team place even in the Spanish second tier, and now... we have him. In fact the only thing we know positively about Ricardo is that Sven has had him on trial & signed him, and therefore assuming he's not another 'Calamity Kirkland' he must have something, right?
