AmyLGK Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Whilst I'm really excited to see what our new Svened-up team does with the clubs at the top end of the table, games like these always fill me with fear! (But I am miss pessimistic 2010 - although not as much this year as in Previous years thanks to :sge: ) What do people think are our chances of getting anything out of these games and do you think they are "must win" games (this phrase btw always confuses me as surely all games should be "must win"! But hey! )
Criggers Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 If they win all the other games, we can afford to lose these two
Stevosevic Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 More confident about us getting a result there than the teams at the bottom to be honest.
Houdini Logic Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 More confident about us getting a result there than the teams at the bottom to be honest. My thoughts exactly
tartanowl Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Why be negative? You are in good form and it's a great opportunity. These games could help to define your season. Win these and you will be in a great position!
StanSP Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 If we win the 3 games beforehand, Barnsley, Bristol and Derby, I don't see why we can't go to Cardiff and QPR and get at least 4 points. Cardiff aren't as solid as they were in the first half of the season. They've become inconsistent just like previous seasons. I am more worried about QPR, but teams have shown that they can be beaten - Watford beat them at Loftus Road 3-1. So it can be done. Have hope !

Win these and you will be in a great position! Yeh - lets get out there and give them a good ass whooping! If we are to be promotion contenders then of course we should be beating teams like this - especially Cardiff. Ok - QPR might be the team that no-one can beat, only Watford can beat but we may as well give it a try! By the way - I haven't seen a single QPR game - why are they so on fire!?!? Have they had a shed load of money put into them at the start of the season or something??
Corky Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 More confident about us getting a result there than the teams at the bottom to be honest. We're not expected to get much out of these games, so that could work in our favour. The pressure will be off. We could well get a couple of good results.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Tough games indeed...... For them anyway!!
ithuriel Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 i will say what i say before every game, we are going to win no point being negative, i bet they are not exactly chuffed to be facing us either.
chavdonk Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 i've noticed a few 3-2 away wins for us at qpr when we were the underdogs same again please cos i'll have a fiver on it

They have a decent sized squad, a good team spirit, he gets the best out of his players, and they have had a bit of cash to spend too. They spent millions alone on that Argentinian lad didn't they? I'll be amazed if they don't finish in the top 2.

1991FOX Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Better playing fields so we can get the ball down and play proper football, unlike at sheff utd. I reckon we've got a great chance to show cardiff were right on their tail
SeCrEt FoX Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Look at th depth and quality of our squad!! Fair enough i worried at the beggining of the season about playing the likes of QPR etc. At the end of the day we gave the likes of Man city a run for their money. WE ARE FACKING LEICESTER CITY!!!! They must be shitting it with the thought of us playing them.
sdb Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 strange to say but i think QPR are completely beatable. a decent side with 1 or 2 quality players. keep them quiet and we can get something out of it imo.
themotivator Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 try and get Tarrabt's studs caught in the turf... NOTREALLYDONT!
whitlock Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 I'm not worried about these games to be fair, we know there good teams and have good players and are at the top of the league. But Sven has got us playing some cracking football and brought in some prem quality players. IF the season had started when Sven took us over, we'd be top of the league. We are as good if not better than Cardiff i believe. I cant see no reason why we can't give them both a good game and grab all 3 points.

They must be shitting it with the thought of us playing them. We are still a way off having a quality 'squad'. Outside our first 14/15 players we are very weak, we have been fairly fortuitous with regards to injuries and our discipline record has been good so far. The first choice 11 are definitely worthy of a play-off spot at least. Other than that we have Hobbs, PVA, Oakley (Who a good deal don't rate anyway) and Waghorn. By the looks of it Sven doesn't much rate the rest. Howard? Not really good enough any more. Moussa? Doesn't seem to be doing enough to warrant sub appearances let alone a first team challenge. Moreno? No. Neilson? No. Logan? No. Lamey? No. I'll reserve judgement on Ricardo as he's not played mucch over the past 2 seasons and Vitor seems far too injury prone and is only temporary anyhoo. We definitely need to continue to strengthen in the summer and to replace the loans. In other news, i'm feeling very upbeat and I think we can definitely mount a challenge if the core of the team stay fit and on form. We can destroy teams if we're on top form, it's just a question of whether we will perform when it matters
Jacnah Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Hard games for sure, but if we play as well as we can do then they have as much reason to be nervous as ourselves. I think 4 of the the teams above us play each other this week end..if the results go well for us over the weekend and we do the business then we could close that gap just a little more. if we can do well against QPR and cardiff (and these games are the ones we need to do well in to keep challenging) we could be right in amongst them.....come on..
zubi Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 QPR are so poor, I really dont know how they are top of the league... oh wait... Adel Taraabt <_<
richardsfoxes Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Every game in this league is tough, you've only got to look at tuesdays game to realise that. What i will say is though, everyone from the top10 are playing each other now, which could be great for any team in form to start to string away from the pack, if we can stay in form, beat QPR and Cardiff, we could steal 2nd place, obviously thats if results go our way.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 [QPR are so poor, I really dont know how they are top of the league... oh wait... Adel Taraabt They really aren't anywhere near as good as the league table makes them look are they? Luck has played a huge part in getting them to where they are. Taraabt is having a good season but I still don't thnk he is as good as the majority of bandwagon riding pundits seem to. Then again they probably don't even watch much Championship football and form their opinions based on statistics and other peoples' blogs, thereby simply reinforcing the pre-existing 'storylines' of the league.

Yeah, we've definitely been better and deserve to be top and shit yeah you know like. They are where they are regardless of who's playing for them or luck they've had, same could be said for us last season, we were shit half the time. They could say the same about King. Stop being so bitter and deluded.

Somebody has to be top of the leage and I'd much rather be an overachieving side like QPR who could potentiialy falter at any given moment than a side like Newcastle last year who were clearly a cut above the vast majority of teams in the league. All I was saying is that I don't hold them in as high regard as a lot of people seem to and I don't feel any particular anxiety about the prospect of going to play tehm at their place.
