ST to rise by £1 per game according to the Merc

Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has told the fans to "take a gamble on us" after Leicester City increased their season-ticket prices by about £1 per game for next season.

The cost of an Early Bird ticket in the Pukka Pies Spion Kop has gone up from £345 to £368.

That will be the price whether City are promoted or not as long as tickets are bought by March 31.

It means, if City go up, their hardcore support would see 19 Premier League games for an extra £23.

Fans in the O'Connor Wealth Management East Stand would pay £24 more for the lowest-priced seats to watch Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

1x1.GIFEriksson said: "It is nice that the fans can buy tickets relatively cheaply, but they will seem even more of a bargain if we go up to the Premier League. It will be interesting to see how many we sell. They should take a gamble on us."

Eriksson says he has been "overwhelmed" by the support his team have received as they make a bold march for the play-offs with a seven-match unbeaten run in the league this year.

Supporters club chairman Cliff Ginnetta said he was surprised the club had not imposed a bigger hike. He said: "I thought the increase would be more and the price is very good, especially considering we could even be watching Premier League football. I think this is generally a good deal."

The cheapest adult season ticket is priced at £320 if renewed by Thursday, March 31 and City have also reduced administration charges for fans who want to pay by direct debit. After that date, all unsold seats will be released on general sale.

For new season-ticket applicants, there are a limited number of tickets available across the stadium starting from £345 in the 'Just The Ticket' area of the ground.

City vice-chairman Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn said: "Without the loyal backing of our season-ticket holders, the club would not be what it is today. That support has helped us to carry us to this stage, but we all crave a taste of the Premier League, which remains our aim.

"I know that together we can achieve our goals and I hope that our fantastic supporters will accept the small increase in price and continue to work with us towards a brighter future."

Lance Tomlyn, of the Independent Supporters Association, said: "I applaud anything the club can do to help ease the burden of supporters but I still feel there will be a substantial number of people who will be unable to afford a season ticket in these times of financial restraint.

"Perhaps, the new owners could have considered freezing the prices as a gesture, but at least it's not a massive hike and it will certainly be a great deal if we are in the Premier League."

Linda Barron, a member of the club's fans' consultative committee, said the ticket announcement was a "really positive step."

She said: "The increase of only a £1 a game is very little in the scheme of things over the whole season.

"The team seem to be consistently playing much better football and we need to get behind them. It would be great if we could encourage some of the match-ticket purchasers to use the direct debit scheme. They will realise that they can save money and still not have to spend all at once."

Season tickets will go on sale from Friday, February 25.

Sounds a bit worse when you say the cost of a season ticket using their example has gone up by nearly 7%. Especially when odds are we will still be in the Championship.

....and a Kop ticket will rise by 29% if we get promoted as there are less games 19 to 23.

Inevitable rise considering the player wages etc...

You want Sven and success you gotta pay for it!

The way I'm looking at it is the thais are putting a lot of money into the club. Of course this isn't going to please everyone, that's a given. You can't get something for nothing.

Spread the cost with our new improved direct debit schemes Make a one-off upfront payment of just £50 plus the relevant admin fee and you can spread the cost of your season ticket over 6 months for a one-off admin payment of just £6 or over 10 months with a one-off admin payment of just £12.

Add this to £23 this is actually cheaper than last year for an adult season ticket by Direct Debit !

Sums £23 + 12 = £35

Before £48 @ £4 per month Admin.

+ ST price.

I just like the thought of going to one of these hotels in Thailand and handing over my season ticket when payment is requested to see what kind of reaction I get.

How many season tickets do we normally sell? Trying to put a figure on how much the club makes from tickets, season and matchday. I know a lot more money nowadays cones from tv, sponsors etc. But just curious

Both of these. Sad that in the current climate there wasn't a price-freeze but we're aiming for instant success and in anything - especially modern football - that comes with a price.

That said, the student prices are ridiculously low and exceptional value for money. Great gesture considering they're as cheap as an adult half-season ticket. It almost makes me want to invest in one. Almost.

Going by the official site it looks like they've re-introduced student tickets.

My ticket last year was like £250 and now will be £130! I hope i'm working this out right!

No, i'm afraid not, you need a letter headed document from your university confirming your student attendance!
