Haydos Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Depends on the money it brings in. I'm sure new advertising hoardings can bring in quite a bit, but maybe not so much with the limited TV exposure we have. I don't understand the people that kick up a fuss because 'it's not cool to bow to commercial types'. What the fvck difference is it to having shitty little boards around the pitch anyway? At least this would look a bit smarter. Big screens, again, fine by me. Look smart but it depends what's done with them. Details about the line ups pre match and stuff related to the football would be nice. Without advertisements every 8 seconds. That would be what the advertising screens would be for. I'm sure that won't stop them from ruining it though. Or filling it with crappy birthday messages. Guess what? Nobody cares. There are about 20,000 people arrive and immediately ask the person sitting next to them what the line up is though. If you're so intent on making the 'matchday experience' better for the fans, maybe do something that will benefit them?
davieG Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 OS The matchday experience at Leicester City takes on a new dimension next month, with the Club set to install two state-of-the-art giant video screens within the Walkers Stadium. Set to be unveiled at the npower Championship fixture against Burnley on Saturday April 9, the two 30-square-metre LED displays will bring a high-resolution element to home games for City supporters, unlike anything else in English football. Around 70 times the size of a 40-inch home television and weighing around one-and-a-half tonnes each, the screens are to be installed by ADI - the UK's leading name in stadium installations. Positioned in the stadium's south-east and north-west corners, ADI's Virtuality Stadium 8 screens each contain 460,000 LEDs and are the first of their kind that ADI have installed in the UK. Incredibly durable and designed to be fully waterproof, ADI's LED screens are so bright that they even look good in direct sunlight. Leicester City Commercial Director Paul Hunt said: "The screens are our latest direct commitment to our supporters that will greatly improve our matchday offering. They will be a fantastic addition and a considerable source of added value for season ticket holders ahead of Thursday's deadline for early renewals and applications. "As well as investing in a system unique to UK stadia, we have secured the services of an industry-leading partner in ADI, whose expertise in stadium installation will be invaluable in maximising what we can deliver. "As well as live match coverage and immediate action replays, supporters can look forward to an enriched offering of pre-match and half-time entertainment for the remainder of this season, into 2011/12 and beyond." ADI Client Account Manager Sharon Smith said: "We're really pleased to have won the contract to supply Leicester City's new screens. "Leicester City are a forward-thinking club and they've demonstrated they have an eye on the future by investing in high-resolution screens. Whilst the stadium standard screens tend to have a 'virtual' 10mm pixel size, Leicester have gone for more 'future-proof' 8mm screens, giving a superior picture quality and resolution and helping to maximise fans' enjoyment and matchday experience." The new screens further strengthen the offering for next season, ahead of Thursday's Early Bird deadline for 2011/12 season tickets. Renewals and new applications must be received by 5.00pm on Thursday March 31 to take advantage of the best prices (starting from £320 for adults) and for existing season ticket holders to retain their current seats. *Image of screen is artists impression only.

Ricey Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 They look quite small on that mockup, I reckon I'd struggle to see them properly from the other side of the stadium.
davieG Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 They look quite small on that mockup, I reckon I'd struggle to see them properly from the other side of the stadium. Well if you're not a ST holder tough if you are I'd get your complaint letter ready for posting
Guest Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 I hope these screens don't distract me from listening to the Birch talk bollocks at half time or I'll be livid!!

Ricey Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Well if you're not a ST holder tough if you are I'd get your complaint letter ready for posting I'm not a ST holder so it's not important what I think, I'll probably get chucked out by a steward for looking at them.
davieG Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 I'm not a ST holder so it's not important what I think, I'll probably get chucked out by a steward for looking at them. So you should, there should be segregated area for none ST holders, somewhere where they don't pollute ST holders where they can't see the screens and where their view is obscured = serving the drinks and food in the concourse.
millzi Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 I agree, they do look a bit Small, oh well, time will tell. It can only be for the better. I don't see why people are moaning about the advertising boards around the pitch becoming LED thingies, they look so much smarter in my opinion.
Haydos Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 I'm sure they've probably researched whether you'll be able to see it from the far end...

Stand and West Stand, and in the corner of the East Stand and the Kop. Sorry, i mis-read it! Must be the man flu! How did you work that one out then ? Family Stand and West Stand is one corner, East Stand and the Kop is the second corner.
The Padster Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 I'm sure they've probably researched whether you'll be able to see it from the far end... Also, considering the're 30m² thats bigger than the one down Humberstone Gate (26m²) and you can easily see that from down by the clock tower/sporting statue area. edit: discovered that the Humberstone gate one is also an LED screen, so basically imagine that plonked in one of the corners.
samjohnson Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Bare in mind that the pic on the OS is only a quick mock up... will probably be bigger than that in actuality. EDIT: After doing a quick bit of snooping, its made by the same company that did the QPR colour scoreboard... Well we all wanted one of those didnt we

Bert Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 This is the only reason i've renewed. Seems I'm going to reap the benefits now.

They'll be much bigger than they look in that mock-up on the lcfc site if the Humberstone gate one is 26m².
