Ford Super Sunday Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 Nothing to do with him wanting to prolong his club career ? No Why the Van Der Kerhof would Paul Scholes want to prolong his playing career? He has won everything he could want and need to win, several times over. He is a multi-multi millionaire, probably living in a plush mansion in Manchester somewhere. He's a Manchester United legend, and is one of those rare people who has been a one-club player. He shuns the limelight, and the last thing he'd probably want to do is make a high-profile move to a lower league club. In conclusion he would have no motivation to move here other than the money. I doubt someone who has more medals than a war museum would be motivated to get a midlands club into the Premier League. I cannot believe I've been engaged into stating why Paul Scholes wouldn't want to join the club. The whole premise of someone even suggesting it is quite ridiculous, and quite frankly, makes this forum look more deluded than RedCafe and WACCOE combined.
MattyFromLE Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 So you wouldn't take Scholes if he wanted to come here? Madness. No i actually wouldn't.
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 Just no. Young promising players who will fight for the club please! This
ajthefox Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 Would love it but there's no way in hell it could happen
Finchy Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 I don't understand are people saying they wouldn't take him because he's crap our no because he would never come? Because people saying they wouldn't want a player like that need their heads checking.
MC Prussian Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 I'd love it if a player like Paul Scholes would join Leicester. An all-around midfielder with vision who can pass and shoot with both feet, tackles well and nods in the occasional header. Just not Paul Scholes himself, he's past it.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 I think the only other team he said he'd consider playing for is Oldham. Spot on. One season helping out Dickov and then farewell.
Guest Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 Not a chance, he's a one man team. He plays on his own? He's here, he's there he's every fcuking where!
Finchy Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 He plays on his own? He's here, he's there he's every fcuking where! oops. One team man.
Finchy Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 He's too old Yeah so's Giggs, absolute rubbish the pair of em. Who cares if they're still playing for Man U.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 To be fair to the OP he did say "If sven can talk him out of retiring". You can't expect me to read the whole of a post that big!
Ambitious Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 Yeah so's Giggs, absolute rubbish the pair of em. Who cares if they're still playing for Man U. I care, I want hungry whizkids, not has beens after an extra bit of pocket money

I don't personally know, i'd hazard a guess at him wanting to play a game he loves at the highest level for as long as possible, but he did by retiring from international football. Edit: and ambitious: you seem to be under the impression that every player over 30 or so is a has-been mercenary only interested in picking up a few more pay-checks. Regardless of whether giggs and scholes are coming to the end of their career, they are still superb players and i, like most fans, would love to see either of them here.
Dames Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 I don't understand are people saying they wouldn't take him because he's crap our no because he would never come? Because people saying they wouldn't want a player like that need their heads checking. His legs are gone. He can only manage one in every three games these days. When he does play he's not the Scholes of old he's more of a sit back and play it safe/hollywood balls type of player. We have Wellens and Gally for that we really don't want another. Its hard to say but Utd have been making him look good for a couple of years now, all he has to do is just spray a couple of passes now and then. Also at 36 would he be upto the vigours of the Championship? As stated before he's been carried by Utd for a while now, can he really adapt to having to slug it out for 90 minutes week in week out? To be honest there isn't any benefits to this besides you being able to say to your mates Paul Scholes plays for us. Otherwise he'll be another passenger picking up a decent wage which could be better spent elsewhere spending his time disrupting a midfield when he is fit enough to be included every 2-3 weeks.
BoneDog Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 A ginger legend. If I was a manager I would try to fill my team with players who had Scholes' attitude.
Bert Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 Anyone who thinks Paul Scholes coming here would be a bad thing is an idiot. What he'd offer at this level on the pitch would be fantastic, and what he'd offer to the whole of our squad off the pitch and in training would be something else. That said, it's not going to happen. Anyone who thinks Paul Scholes coming here would be a bad thing is an idiot. Head Honcho Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 He done me a favour yesterday by being sent off.

No, that is not at all what I'm saying. Incorrect. Everyone seems to be under the impression that Man Utd want rid of him. Paul Scholes will decide when Paul Scholes will leave Manchester United. He, like Giggs, will be offered as many one-year extensions as they like until they retire, they are that good. So even if he didn't retire he'd stay at Manchester United. If he does retire, then he's retiring for good, not coming back to play for anyone. Therefore, if Paul Scholes can carry on living in the place he has done all his life, playing at an infinetly higher level than he'd play at with us, with the chance of winning more top level honours with one of the biggest clubs in the world, please tell me why he'd want to move here? The whole premise of this thread is simply ludicrous.

AyewJoking Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 Scholes was always overrated IMO. No disrespect to him, he's had a glorious career but he'd just be a passenger in the hustle and bustle of the Championship.

Mikey Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 Fu*k me, there's something wrong with most Leicester fans.

The whole premise of this thread is simply ludicrous. i didn't say that, and i agree this thread is ludicrous but one poster suggested that he wouldn't want to join because sven was the reason he retired from Internationall football, to which another suggested he actually retired from international football to prolong his career, however you seemed to misunderstand that as wanting to prolong his career by moving here so then i tried to point out they were talking international football, not club football. Anyway getting back to the thread, i completely agree with bert and anyone else who's posted a similar view-point.
