Stockholm Tournament for City in July!

Press conference on Monday over here to announce that City will be playing my adopted Swedish club Hammarby, Brescia from Serie A and Real Mallorca from 12th-18th July in the new Stockholm Cup! ****ing brilliant news...10 mins from home!!

Mallorca will be the only top flight team in this tournament, they are a good, young team managed by Michael Laudrup. Brescia have some decent players like Diamanti, Cristiano Zanetti, Zebina and Carriacolo but it looks like they are going down. Hammarby...well I'm familiar with some of them from playing football manager but they have Pat Gerrbrand back and Rami Shabaan in goal!

Can't wait - two months to SVERIGE!

I assume all games will be played at Hammarby's stadium.

Shame it has to be the now relegated Brescia and not Atalanta, who're on the verge of getting promoted back to the Serie A.

It's gonna be an expensive trip, I reckon - maybe some of our Swedish Foxes can shed some light on the situation in Stockholm.

Seven quid a pint is pretty typical in Sweden so anyone making the trip will either have a sober or expensive week in the Swedish capital. Sven is something of a national hero in the country so we should be sure of a warm welcome, and atmospheres are apparently very good.

On a further note, I graduate in July and my birthday is on the 14th....

YOU'RE GONNA GET PISSED, YOU'RE GONNA GET PISSED, OH DEAR BILO, YOU'RE GONNA GET PISSED!

Take it there'd be no issues with you bringing your own beer, finding a square somewhere and drinking all you like?

Prussian, I'm checking cheap ways of doing Stockholm as we speak! Hostels would suffice for now, I haven't had a proper holiday since a nice little weekend break in Barcelona last February.

And weasel, no idea what the deal with public drinking or if cheap beer even exists in Sweden. As I understand it, it's a taxation issue rather than cost of living as Stockholm isn't much more expensive as a European capital than London or Paris generally speaking.

Yes I am doing my research. :)

Anyone wanting to go to this had better start saving big time.

I was in Stockholm last June. It is a great city to visit but it is REALLY expensive.

The flights are by far the cheapest bit. Hotels etc about average for a capital city but going out sighseeing or to eat/drink will set you back a fair whack.

Depends exactly where you go but a meal out without drink was costing between say 8/10 quid for a pasta meal/pizza up to about £25 quid for any sort of meat dish. Beer is very costly allow anything between 4-7 quid a pint.

If you want to see any sights and some are definitely worth it allow upto say £10 for a museum or more if you want a trip out on the water.

In a recent survey it came out as the most expensive city for a weekend break.

I really recommend it though and I'm sure some local fans would give better advice than me but it will set you back.

it's possible to find places that sell beer for 2.50-3 quid. Mainly it's quite expensive to drink beers in bars in sweden though. Especieally now when your pound is less strog to the swedish krona compared to before.

Stockholm is a great city summertime and I'm sure you will have a good time, it won't be cheap if you just go around willy-nilly but I'm sure you can get help from swedish fans with good local places that aren't that epensive. I live 70 kilometers from stockholm but don't go there very often if it isn't for work so I'm not an expert on which cheap places that are the best. As you mentioned it's pretty cheap to fly from London.

If you go I hope you'll have a good time and enjoy the trip. If you have any questions I'll try to answer them as good as I can.

Live like a backpacker from under 20 £ a night.... :D

You can also get on a ferry some nights. Cheap floating hotels where you can buy some beer taxfree.... Party all night and often either for free or up to 10£ per trip. If you're unlucky you meet some lovely ladies and decides to move to Sweden at once. lol

I've found cheap flights, roped a Newcastle fan into coming with me. I'm thinking of doing 15th/16th to the 18th. Maybe even the 14th.

Edit: think I'm doing the Friday to the Monday. My mate's doing the Saturday and Sunday. Weekend in Stockholm, textbook.

I'm basically Swedish. I'm all over this, my birthday week an'all. I was in Stockholm in February and didn't spend much more than I would in London. Take 2 litres of vodka on the flight with you and you'll be sweet as a bell.

elaborate on basically :chant:

He's watched a few good Swedish porno's and has had his picture taken with Sven.
