Sol Bamba

How many people did Bamba have to play along side? Not just in central defence but fullbacks and in goal? The defensive midfielder wasn't exactly constant either was he? And in all of that change and all of that upheaval and uncertainty I would argue that along with Naughton he was our best performer in the defence! How some of you can slag him off is beyond me? Do you just like to moan about players? Do you have misshapen genitalia and thus are angry at the world?

Leave our Sol alone! Some of us love the big fella!

I think Bamba is a decent player but Mills is class and dominates, the likes of which we have been lacking since Elliott/Taggs /Walsh

Mills, Bamba and SSL vying for two places and if Tunchev can prove his fitness that should provide a decent enough central pairing.

I think Mills would of seen enough of Bamba's positioning at the 3-0 Reading game to tell Sven he would want the Tunch or SSL next to him.

Actually excited now, first time in a couple of years could actually have a organised defence back.

IF Mills signs, I would have thought it pretty certain that Bamba will be on his way out of the club. If there's an offer on the table - of £2m or so (from Marseille or whoever) - I'm sure that Sven will take it. £2m goes a fair way to off-setting the £5m he's (potentially) laying out on Mills and as I said in an earlier FT post on club 'departures' ('Waghorn, Howard, Dyer, Bamba etc'), the Thais are businessman and although not desperately needing to have sales to fund purchases, I'm sure would like to go some way to try and 'balance' the books. Besides, as some posters here have said, we'll have a few Centre Backs at the club (Mills, SSL, Parkes, Bolger, possibly Tunch and even Mee - if that ever happens, having spent £5m on one defender !) - Bamba, although decent, could be a bit surplus to requirements !

I'm also sure there'll be a few on FT saying we NEED at least 4 experienced Centre Backs, as squad players - well, I would say, "get real", we're a Championship club (not in the Champions League), how many players like Bamba are going to want to regularly sit on our subs bench, or play in hastily arranged Reserves Friendlies with the likes of Mansfield and Burton (we can't even offer decent Reserves League football !), or wait for someone to 'get crocked' (and emergencies like that, are what the Loan system is for - we know Sven is not afraid to use it !). Mills and SSL will be the first choice Centre Backs !?

i dont see all the fuss over tunch myself..

for me it would be bamba >tunch and so id keep him..

I take it you would prefer Bamba over Tunch. Either you never saw Tunch, or you are just plain wrong.

yes i would prefer bamba.. tunch dont even know if hes going to be offered a contract. whats that say about his health??

he certainly didnt do anything to change my mind when he played at the end of the season..

fair play to him for trying to get back and all but no room for sentiments in football.

whilst 2m would be a good return on 250k its not like we are deperate for money apparently now so depth in the squad would be better imo also..

tunch may be an injury risk, mee may not come back, dont leave much cover..

Agreed.

Sell sell sell, once we get Mills in, Bamba won't be first choice and if we can make back 10x what we paid for Sol, it's good business. Plus frees up funds for Maynard/Mee et al.

The point is this, Sven will not offer Tunch a contract if he isn't fit! If he offers him a contract he will be fit! If fit ,we all know he is much better than Bamba.

Is it really so amazing that some of us DON'T think Tunch is better than Bamba. I guess your opinion is better than ours though. Tunchev has done absolutely nothing for 2 years.

How much do you think we can sell Tunchev for ?

In terms of ability Tunchev at his peak kills Bamba, if he isnt fit we let him go, if he is is stays......

A fully fit Tunchev partnering Matt Mills makes me wet, both are them are proper centre halves, nothing fancy, wont be caught out, wont be fannying around out of position but can get forward and score goals at set pieces.

If those two were fit most of the season as the back 2 I think our defensive record could even go some way near what QPR's was last season.

And when he came back after the first injury we were all saying this is it we have Tunch back he's incredible and how many games did he play?

Perhaps you can give me this week's winning lottery numbers because you can obviously see into the future.

After I see Tunchev is back to his best then I'll re-evaluate the situation. until then I'll stick with Bamba - to sell him would be lunacy.
