Sol Bamba

1 million is tempting.

no it's not. A very decent defender at this level, and a big presence at set pieces - something we lack otherwise.

I bet you bamba's agent is behind this. Probably trying to get sol's wage increased and get a nice percentage for himself. I think he'll be at city still next year, but if he wants to leave then get rid. A lot of the city boys who leave for bigger and better things don't get what they bargain for. I call it the draper syndrome!

Agreed. £2.6 million is a more realistic estimate of his worth than the £1million some on here say they'd be happy with.

Yeah but I think he meant 1million + Heskey, which is what's being speculated in the link I posted. ;)

For 2.6 Million. i'll help him pack and drive him to Villa.

I'll happily help you! 2.6m is an obscene amount of money for Sol Bamba. There's no way we'll see a bid like that. £1m wouldnt be a bad bit of business, not that I'm urging us to sell him.

I'd much rather see us be thrifty in the market and bring in players such as Konchesky and theres nothing wrong with players going the other way if the money is right. I'd swap Konchesky for Bamba in a heartbeat.

£2.6 mill is a great bit of business but I don't think the transfer fee is an issue to our owners so I'd say it's worth keeping him

This could all tell us more about our financial situation than many might think. If Sol Bamba could be sold for two or even three million ( reports suggest Villa have offered 2.6m and Marseille are very serious about wanting him so could offer more ), then if we don't sell him because we don't need the money, that would be a big message.

Let's face it, if he is worth that now he'll probably be worth more next year.

We might all have to get used to the idea that we are a club who can now deal in bigger markets with 'bigger' players. We're in a whole new different ball game!

There is also the possibility he'll be 'found out' and will dissapear into oblivion...

I remember Michael Misfud at Cov. Scored a couple of cracking goals... was rated highly Cov reportedly turned down £3m for him and well... look where he is now and what his value is now...

Bloody obscure example i know but i have heard of many examples of this sort of thing!

exactly, everyone's saying 1 mil would be grand, but i wanna keep him! sol bamba is a leicester cult legend, and e's only been here a matter of months! sol bamba has to stay, everyone loves him.

A bit OTT don't you think :frusty:

I can't believe how quickly peoples opinions on Bamba have dropped, and I don't really understand why. OK so he didn't finish the season has good as he started with us but he wasn't that bad was he? I don't go to every away game but from the home games and the couple of times I have seen away from home, I don't think I've seen him have a really bad game.

I'd like to keep him, certainly wouldn't sell him for £1m that some people are suggesting but for £2.6m, that represents a good piece of business.

Think about it... Sven has recently stated that his main priority is to bolster the back line and supporting defence players... this would be a major contradiction if he let one of our better defenders go! IF it is his agent trying to spread the word then shame on him! I think Sven and his staff have enough experience with agents to ensure Bamba doesn't turn into a greedy F***ER like many other players. I hope he just shrugs it off as we shall be at the same level as them this time next year. :chant: I mean, Villa have been on a downward spiral, when we enter the Prem our spending power will probably take us to the same level as them!

If 2.6million is true no one with any brain could refuse it.

I didnt actually see the Man City game which everyones says was his best as I was in Oz at the time but the 10-12 times I have watched him in the flesh the main positive is he seems a threat at set pieces but that isnt the principal job of a centre half. We conceded a lot of goals in the games we have played in.

All the games he played in agaisnt the top 6 he got ripped apart in all honestly so the premiership will clearly be a step too far, if he was that good he wouldnt of played 4 years at hibernian without one of the auld firm snapping him up.

One of the most comfortable on the ball players I've ever seen.

But as a centre-half, its your job to reduce opposition chances on goal and for me he's pretty poor at that.

The part of the game he excels at, is of secondary importance to making it difficult for opposition forwards.

So for me, I don't care if he goes... would love Mee at LCB and an old head (or an on form Hobbs) replacing Bamba at RCB

Im supremly confident that Sven, If he decides to sell a player for 2.6m that he bought for 250k , would be able to bring in somoene even better.

The silence for me is whats worrying... Surely if Sven wasnt contemplating selling him then he would of come out and said it by now

Or Sven knows its just paper talk with no substance and is willing to let the rumour die out as he knows there is no truth in it.

Sven doesn't have to comment every time one of our plyers is linked with another club. I'm sure he has more important things to do.

Bamba is good but overrated. Still lives off that performance v Man City.

I wouldn't be too bothered if we cashed in and brought someone else in. After all, we conceded alot of goals this season and from January onwards, he was the main centre back.

£2.6m is laughable. Of course he's not solely responsible for one of the worst defences around, as the team defended awfully as a whole but he was integral to our defence which shipped goals like a team adrift at the bottom.

Ashley Williams is worth 10 Sol Bamba's and wasn't his asking price around £2.5m?
