Living in broughton astley it takes me about the same amount of time to travel in to Leicester city centre as it does to travel to chaventry, so I can see why their fans consider us their local derby
Kitchandro Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 Others (10.1%) What others could possibly take up 10%?
ajthefox Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 Obviously forest and derby hate each other more than us but I didn't think we'd be such a distant second. Surprised Villa are that high on Cov's list as well when the last time they played each other must be a good 10 years ago, if not more.
bmt Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 Others (10.1%) What others could possibly take up 10%? I'd guess Villa

Thing is if only 10 Leicester fans did the survey for example, then the %'s dont really show much cause 1 person would be the 10.1%
lcfcbradyboy Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 For me i hate Cov scum more than Forest and Derby 1. Coventry 2. Forist 3. Derby

FuriousFox46 Posted 19 May 2011 Author Posted 19 May 2011 Apparently there were at least 300 voters for each club. The Forest one's have been voided for the time being as the think there's been a miscalculation. I asked about the other 10% and I was told our fans voted Aston Villa, Leeds, Wolves, Chelsea, Portsmouth, West Brom, Birmingham, Stoke, Peterborough, Northampton and Barcelona as our rivals.

Portsmouth We may have to wait a season or two until we're in champions league for Barcelona to come into it but maybe people can just predict the future.
tomtom Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 I never knew there was beef between derby and leeds. Not sure if your joking or not but incase not ,...It's to do with Brian clough

Ah stupid poll then.
Kitchandro Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 People seem to confuse teams they hate with rivals. I hate Man U probably as much as Coventry but I know it's not a rivalry. I bet some people are like 'I work with a bunch of Portsmouth fans so they're our rivals'. TBF I think it reflects the amount of plastic fans we have.

I agree with what you said and I feel similar about Man Utd and a few others but they obviously aren't rivals. I don't get what you mean about that relating to plastic fans. Are you suggesting it's the plastic ones voting for 'rivalries' such as Man United and others?

FuriousFox46 Posted 19 May 2011 Author Posted 19 May 2011 Nazza Nffc Kaplinski Updated Forest rivalry results - got 231 voters which is at least 70 less than the rest but oh well. Nottingham Forest 1. Derby County (62.8%) 2. Leicester City (29.9%) ...3. Sheffield United (3.4%) Others (3.9%)
Kitchandro Posted 19 May 2011 Posted 19 May 2011 It says that we didn't even vote for Manchester United... OK Chelsea then, I was just using Man Utd as a personal example

I don't get what you mean about that relating to plastic fans. Are you suggesting it's the plastic ones voting for 'rivalries' such as Man United and others? Yeh a bit, I can imagine part-timers not really understanding what our rivalries are all about, and just voting for random teams who they don't like or who we've played couple of controversial games with. I didn't understand what the Forest rivalry was all about until I went to my first one last season - before then I hated Derby more. But now I go and can see that Leicester fans see Forest as our main rival. After the experience of the games I see Forest as our main rival too. The matchday experience isn't the same with teams like Wolves and West Brom and Portsmouth and Chelsea (though I'm sure it would be a great atmosphere with the latter no doubt) so if you went to games you could see what our rivalries are. Anyway, most of those in the 10% obviously don't consider us rivals at all, whereas Forest, Derby and Cov all do to a reasonable extent.

I'm not sure why 10% of the voters would be those kind of plastic fans but I suppose with Sven and the Thai's we've probably gained a few more, and there's always a few who will say they're City fans when it suits them.

MC Prussian Posted 20 May 2011 Posted 20 May 2011 I consider this "which rivalry is bigger than..." debate a bit pointless. Derby and F*ç/%st are traditionally/historically bound to despise each other more, also because of the proximity of both stadia (14 miles in between). Deep down in our hearts, we all know which one's the best club in the East Midlands. For now, let's just take a deep breath, relax and look at the bright side of life - as the laughing third fourth. We're on the up. Unlike Coventry and Derby. And F*ç45wt - will they ever make it back to the Premier League?
