Fox92 Posted 20 May 2011 Posted 20 May 2011 This rivalries thing can go on forever, because people its obvioulsy Nottingham Forest & Derby meaning fans say we have no other teams to consider rivals - although plenty of fans will say that Leicester & Coventry is the main rivalry. Anyhow, this data is good because we can see where we sit between it all. But, I still suppose it's who you consider to be our biggest rivals, some will dislike Coventry more than Derby and Derby more than Forest etc. In history and geography Nottingham Forest & Derby is the biggest and main rivalry, but I knew we were their other rivals. If one of Derby/Forest were relegated/promoted then I'm sure their game against us would be the biggest because there are no other sides in the East Midlands at this level. I do think our rivalry with Coventry is just as big as Forest. Obviously the Coventry fans think it is as well. Its only 35 minutes between the Walkers and the Richo as well, so it is without a doubt the closest. It does depend on where you live, but like posts above state, people may confuse rivalries with team they dislike. For example, I dislike Sheffield Wednesday, but I'd never list it as a rivalry because it isn't. Interesting data and read though.

I'm not sure I can explain myself apart from that I reckon its more of an equally strong dislike of both, rather than an increasing or decreasing dislike of one or the other, if that makes sense.

The younger lot have seen a lot more Leicester-Cov games in the last years or so rather than Leicester-Forest games, due to not being in the same league. So when Cov turn up with there 500 fans singing 'We all hate Leicester' its bound to make them dislike Cov, then this grows each time we play them. I'm not particulary fond of Cov but for me it will always be Forest-Derby-Cov

We're more equally split between 3 clubs because of our more central location. I can see Peterborough, Northampton etc also being voted for geographical reasons. Living on the opposite side of the county to Cov I don't even give them a second thought and don't consider them anything. For me it's all about Derby & Forest and then teams like Leeds through virtue of league position rivalries in recent seasons and the fact they have a healthy contingent of ex-foxes too

Most fans I know say they just can't enthuse themselves for the Coventry games in the same way as Notts Forest and Derby, and I feel the same. Coventry are an irritant, nothing more. Florist seem overrun by knuckle dragging idiots. Derby boast about their numbers but have awful support, quietest fans I saw at Filbert Way this season.

I live in Whetstone, which is literally no closer to any other club. Growing up, I considered Derby as our main rivals just because we were both in the Premier League when I was younger but then I started going to the games with my Grandpa and my Dad who being from the older generation, hate Forest. Which sort of caught on and the fact my cousin in a family of City supporter's follows the Trees! Then Coventry, a just a team that have nothing on us. They seem to think they're a huge club and they constantly call us shit and say that Forest don't care (which they do- another reason I hate Forest) when Aston Villa couldn't give a monkeys about Cov! Anyway, Forest, Cov, Derby (then Peterborough)

I'd think the derby fans that hate us more do because of the Walshie Play-off final Coventry - I'm a younger fan and I like the fact that they hate us them most, it's pretty funny tbh, because when they bring a pathetic amount of fans to both the home and away games between us I always just laugh at them and feel a bit underwhelmed about the rivalry. This is why it is the third rate derby for me, the match experience is just not the same. I couldn't care less wht trophies they've won or how big they are or how famous they are and all the bull Forest come out with, the atmosphere at Cov games is generally not very good.The atmosphere's at the Forest and Derby games this season were electric, despite the attendances only being just over average.

I dislike Coventry more than the other two sides, but the atmosphere at Coventry isn't good like you posted. But is that because of Coventry's new ground and their poor support? Because we're always good, like at any away match. Anyway I do like it when we play Coventry at home (even if they don't bring alot), because they do sing 'we hate Leicester' which Derby and Forest don't do. So it gets me up for it and makes me dislike them even more. When we play Forest it is good, the atmosphere is great and all that, but I do cringe at some supporters - like when people were chucking around a ripped up Forest shirt.

iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 20 May 2011 Posted 20 May 2011 I believe Leicester v Forest will become the number 1 again soon because both clubs will be in the premiership competing against each other unlike Derby who seem to be heading nowhere. However, as demonstrated with West Ham & Millwall who hadn't played each other for a while, the rivalry still remains bigger than any other.

Indeed they were good, in particular Derby away. More to do with the all round day though. However none of these games atmospheres compare to true derby's e.g West Brom v Wolves, Brum v Villa and other clubs with similar sized crowds.
