Kasper Schmeichel - COMPLETE

So is there a good chance that Schmeichel will be signing today? :sge:

From the Mercury:

Meanwhile, the Mercury understands talks with goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel's representatives have begun, but there is still a long way to go before a deal can be completed.

Schmeichel was shocked when Leeds United announced on Monday that they had accepted City's bid, believed to be £1 million, and knows he has no future at Elland Road.

Public statements from manager Simon Grayson and chairman Ken Bates mean there is no way back for the 24-year-old Dane, and Leeds will be eager for Schmeichel to complete a quick switch to City.

The Mercury understands Leeds have not received another bid for Schmeichel, and do not want a situation of having to deal with an unwanted player when they return to training on Thursday.

However, Schmeichel is considering all his options and City have other goalkeeping possibilities.

READ WHAT I PUT!

He had the chance to play with a team that is way bigger than the one he was at, a team that is tipped for promotion and a team with the best manager outside of the Prem! Of course he is going to want to bloody come  And I imagine a fair increase on his wages.

So you don't think that Kasper can see those things too? I notice he didn't say he wanted to sign a new contract with Leeds either - My gut feeling is that he wanted to sit on his terms and leave Leeds who are in a financial mess with nothing. By accepting the bid and documenting it Leeds have taken the power back which is probably a smart move on their part.

But he's not coming from a league below to a MUCH bigger club though, he's coming from a very similar club with similar ambitions. You can't expect him to be in love with Leicester, last week he was Leeds' #1 and happy where he was, just because we've shown interest in him doesn't mean he is instantly going to fall in love with us and be really keen to join, I imagine he is still getting his head around being told he is no longer wanted.

Further proof he doesn't really want to be here, if true I say we pull the plug and let him rot at Leeds, we need committed players

I'm not sure you can reasonably suggest that...for instance didn't Sven sign a two year contract or just under - would you say he doesn't want to be here?

Leeds have signed Rachubka today. Can't for the life of me see how that is an improvement on KS.

Sounds like Leeds are in a bit of a mess. They're losing players left right and centre. People like Killenny turning down a new deal and potentially signing for Hull, surely that's a backwards step!

So all this talk about improving their back line is a load of rubbish really isn't it.

They're loss our gain !!

Twitter stuff goes in the twitter thread please, that includes fourth official. People are fed up of the twitter stuff, this will be dealt with harshly if people persist.

Pretty sure it's been made clear that he'll only be used as back-up.

Cant say he lit the championship on fire with his goalkeeping skills last season

Average, half decent keeper imo who will get slated by members on this forum, whatever happens

good luck to him if he comes, but certainly not a keeper i'd be cracking one off over the thought of him coming to LCFC

Why are Leeds so keen to offload?

I'm hoping that Leicester will sort out the contract negotiations over the weekend because Leeds are apparently starting training on Thursday and I'm guessing Leeds don't want Schmeichel there :dunno:
