My main concern is whether his English is good enough to command a young back four: I think it important we get a goalie who can take control of his penalty area and have the confidence of the defence. If his English is good, someone of this experience could be good.

How do you know we will have a young back four? At the moment we've got Bamba, Tunch and Berner as our top choices for starts. Average age - very late twenties.

It's clear Berner won't be first choice next season - just after he signs a new contract last seasont, Sven brought in PVA. It would be good to see Tunch back to his best but I can't see it. And I think you've forgotten Hobbs, who is only 22.

Why would they want him for backup? Gomes will most likely be sold, they still have Cudicini :dunno:

Sudanese giants Al-Merreikh's goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary said on Sunday that he has received an official offer to join English second-division side Leicester City next season.

“I have several offers but Leicester City’s is the most serious one,‘’ the veteran guardian said on his official website.

Recent reports linked El-Hadary, who joined Al-Merreikh in the January transfer window, with several Premier League and (second tier) Championship clubs.

‘’I am in contact with Leicester City’s club director and the negotiations are on the right track. I think I will have a good opportunity to play there,‘’ he added.

El-Hadary penned a three-year contract with Al-Merreikh after ending a brief and unsuccessful spell with Cairo giants Zamalek.

The 38-year-old, who produced a superb performance in Egypt’s goalless draw at home to South Africa in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers last week, has said more than once he had no intention of hanging up his gloves.

“After the end of the season, I will evaluate my experience with the Sudanese club and decide whether to stay or not,” he concluded.

a 38 year old, 5 foot 3 keeper?

Can't see anything going wrong with this signing.

However if it keeps weale from playing for us then please let this happen.

Hes obviously a good keeper else he wouldnt play for his national team and hes certainly got to be better than wot we got now

Alan Rough & Jim Leighton represented scotland, Scott Carson has represented England, Kalac has represented Australia - for some reason i doubt the bit in bold is true. The majority of the time those that play for their national sides are good keepers but there are some exceptions.

But he is definately better than weale, the poodle haired twat.

He was chosen as the best goalkeeper in the 2006 African Cup of Nations, held in homeland Egypt and in the 2008 African Cup of Nations, held in Ghana and he was the best goalkeeper for the 2010 African Cup of Nations , held in Angola. He's also won the competition 4 times.

Capped 125 times for Egypt and he is also considered as one of the best goalkeepers in Africa's Football History.

Sounds a tiny bit better than Weale.

Then so did Ricardo but everyone had a problem with him.

Ricardo was/is better than weale i dont why people have a problem with him

I know. But let's not get into that

Well, Ricardo isn't a rugbyplayer.....

That video shows that the Egyptian guy parries virtually every shot. He doesn't like catching.

Oh and Sven thought Ricardo was that good that he released him as soon as the season was finished.
