sphericalfox Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 So gaz and spherical, do you think Weale will be sold then? Does that mean that you will also be accused of 'hating' him? I've made it clear on my stance on Weale way before Ricardo came into the picture. I had no qualms about Ricardo. He only became flustered and under pressure form the fans unduly in my opinion. He made far less mistakes than Weale. I think he's an adequate CCC keeper, but he can the business for someone else in my view. Sven will be wanting a better standard of backup and 1st keeper. Hanhemann is going for free, and would definetly be a better option for 1st for example, and this lad seems to be in demand so still must have something. There are other options already posted and out there. I'll trust Sven to sort it.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Or perhaps the booing destroyed Ricardo's confidence? Either way Sven has made it plain that he doesn't rate Weale. Thank****forthat. I hope we sign 2 goalies and sell Weale I totally agree. Weale is NOT Championship quality
funkyrobot Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 As has been said many times before, it's unlikely Ricardo wanted to continue for a team where he was constantly jeered at by a crowd favouring an inferior (in my opinion) keeper. You have no evidence to suggest Sven 'forced him out'. Ricardo was released by Sven. Fact. You have no evidence to suggest that Ricardo left because he was being jeered. you have, however gone on about it for months.
hackneyfox Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Ricardo was neither forced out or released, he had a contract until the end of last season, Sven chose not to offer him a new contract.

oxford blue Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 I'm concerned we may end with El Hadary as our number one keeper next season; leicester mercury are reporting we have made an offer for him. I agree with sphericalfox about Hanhemann - Westwood would be better but it's reported today Sunderland are confident of signing him. el Hadary may be the best African goalei in history but far too much of a risk - is his English good enough to command a defence, is he confident at catching the ball from crosses (-from what I've seem of African Cup games it's unlikely), would be his first move from egypt or sudan so may find it hard to adapt to England. I'm not sure the advice Sven receives on goalies is the best if Ricardo is anything to go by. Ok, Weale may not be the greatest but if we're going to replace him, I hope a new signing will significantly improve the position. I'd prefer to spend on a goalkeeper of quality than £3m the mercury are reportedly saying we've agreed with Everton
escos Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Weale is only a bad keeper because he makes the same couple of mistakes over and over again. So isn't it time some of the blame should be put on the goalkeeping coach??
21st Century Fox Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 I hope for El Hadary's sake he doesn't come here, I'm sure he won't deserve the abuse he'd no doubt receive before he's even touch a ball. Heaven forbid we look outside of the British Isles for a goalkeeper. Good call on Hanhemann.

So isn't it time some of the blame should be put on the goalkeeping coach?? Mike Stowell doesn't teach Chris Weale to let the ball go under him from 10 yards at 3 mph. However, I do think that Stowell encourages punching which is certainly not good imo.
bmt Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Ricardo was released by Sven. Fact. You have no evidence to suggest that Ricardo left because he was being jeered. you have, however gone on about it for months. Considering I've only posted for the last 6 weeks or so I find it hard to believe I have gone on about it "for months". However, unless you are a great friend of Sven, which I highly highly doubt, you have no idea as to why his contract wasn't renewed. All I said is that he may have said to Sven that he didn't want a new contract after the way he was treated by the fans. I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just saying you don't know so don't make assumptions.

But surely when he keeps getting beat from distance because his positioning is wrong it's up to the coach to sort it out.
filou Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 But surely when he keeps getting beat from distance because his positioning is wrong it's up to the coach to sort it out. Crap at the close stuff, look at Forest & Derby away. Just not good enough.
funkyrobot Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Hahnhemann wasn't good enough for wolves. He is not good enough for city. Sorry bmt I got u mixed up with spherical. Your still making assumptions however. I was stating fact.
21st Century Fox Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Hahnhemann wasn't good enough for wolves. He is not good enough for city. You mean Wolves in the Premiership and us in the Championship!
MGLCFC Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Is that the same argument as Given is not good enough for Man City, so he's not good enough for us?
sphericalfox Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Hahnhemann wasn't good enough for wolves. He is not good enough for city. Sorry bmt I got u mixed up with spherical. Your still making assumptions however. I was stating fact. What that Premiership team? There's a rare thing out there at the minute. A GK that has both Premiership experience and more importantly for the haters of foreigners, CCC experience and doesn't punch. He's also a free. Who's your target then?
anotherharboroughfox Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Ricardo was terrible. Thankfully Weale didn't do anything wrong when he came back into the team. Forest Away?
Narborough_fox Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 I really hope El Hadary comes even as a 2nd choice, anything is better than Weale and what I've seen of him (very little) he has been fantastic, especially against Italy in the Confederations Cup where he was phenomenal.
anotherharboroughfox Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Nothing Ricardo wouldn't have done. Naturally
Leicester_Loyal Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Nothing Ricardo wouldn't have done. Bollocks. Stop being up Weales arse. Hes shit, Ricardo was ok, he still made mistakes, but he never let in 30 yard pathetic shots or let the ball bounce under him. Two new keepers please.

Hes shit, Ricardo was ok, he still made mistakes, but he never let in 30 yard pathetic shots or let the ball bounce under him. Two new keepers please. Agreed on the 2 new keepers. I'd like to see one young keeper and one experienced keeper personally. El-Hadary/Hahnemann and Smithies maybe?
