Alexikokopops Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 It's because the Aussies have got home series vs New Zealand and India lined up soon. They have contractual obligations with TV to meet, the same as England do with Sky. A 4-test series between Australia and one of SA or NZ would be infinitely better for both TV ratings and cricket fans. Instead we have what had the potential to become a cracking series between the side 2nd in the world and a team on the resurgence ending at 1-1, followed by another that is also going to be hampered by a shear lack of games. With the Future Tour Programme planned so far in advance as it is there's no excuse for having to cram these games in. If the ICC is serious about protecting the future of test cricket then it needs to sort out ridiculous series like this. However, as we've seen with the postponing of the inaugural Test Championship for the ridiculously insignificant Champions Trophy due to pressure from TV (and namely ESPN Star Sports) it's more likely to get worst than better. Oh, and while I'm at it - a three test series between the current 1 and 2 in the world next summer? So we can cram in 5 ODIs against Australia beforehand and 5 ODIs against SA afterwards? Riiiiidiculous. All I ask for is a proper length series
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 I was loving it as Test's are the BEST form of cricket and the fact that it started at 730pm so i could get home have dinner followed by a wank, watch neighbours then the cricket..........Job Done!
FoxyPV Posted 23 November 2011 Author Posted 23 November 2011 A three match Test series should be written into the rules as a minimum! Unfortunately money talks and due to people's work and family commitments, they can no longer afford to take 3-5 days off work to watch cricket. The shorter forms get bums in seats and all the accompanying trade.
Corky Posted 23 November 2011 Posted 23 November 2011 I Test cricket. Apart from when we played the West Indies two years ago.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 23 November 2011 Posted 23 November 2011 Australia A v New Zealand in a four day match today, i've got a feeling it will be better than the actual test series.
Alexikokopops Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 3 balls left! India need 3 runs! WI need two wickets!
Alexikokopops Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 3 balls left! India need 3 runs! WI need two wickets! Last ball, India need 2 runs to win with two wickets in hand (so couldn't lose). They basically just had to run two. Aarun went for the second but Ashwin didn't seem to be on the ball and got run out. DRAW
Corky Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 Didn't expect that after the first few days. Must've been brilliant to watch.
Guest MattP Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 Absolutely gutted I slept through this, looks amazing reading it on Cricinfo.
I am Rod Hull Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 Put it on when India needed about 26 off 5 overs, cracking ending..
Alexikokopops Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 Absolutely gutted I slept through this, looks amazing reading it on Cricinfo. I'd missed the fact that WI had been bowled out for 130-odd so assumed it was heading for a draw. Thankfully I was on Facebook and Cricinfo mentioned India needed 90 to win from 30 overs so I got the TV on right away!
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 Looks like i'm going to get my wish on Thursday and have Jimmy Patterson (young brother of one time England Test player Darren) going to get his Test Debut, even better is he will most likely take the new pill wiith my other fav quick Pete Siddle. From the last test in South Africa we have got injuries to Ryan Harris, Mitchell Johnson, Shane Wattson, Pat Cummins and Shaun Marsh. Will be good to test our depth and even better to see t20 specialist Dave Warner given his test debut. Also was the Windies and India game the most bizzare test match of all time???
Corky Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 Test cricket doesn't return at the top level until January.

I think you'd probably save a lot of typing if you just said when Ryan Harris doesn't have an injury

More excited that Jimmy Patto is getting a game, i may blow my load watching him and Sidds opening the bowling on a pacey hard Gabba Deck. May get to witness one of these again almost a year to the day
I am Rod Hull Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 I just had to laugh at this... Poor Shankar 0:32 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-15889444
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 1 December 2011 Posted 1 December 2011 Some putrid bowling and NZ were 0-44 and then 5-96 and the bowling hasn't improved. The Kiwis are realy that bad.

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 Great fight back by the Kiwis lead by one of my favourite all time players in D. Vettori he is a gun, great bowler in an average side for 13-14 years and more than handy with the bat......wasted with the Kiwis.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 You might stand a chance then Harsh Let's not forget we're coming off a win against the Saffas in Saffa land

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 He is New Zealand cricket, it's going to be weird watching them without him. Agree Still only 32 so hopefully he keeps playing for along time yet. Not many in Test Cricket that would average 30 with ball and bat and his bowling would probably be less if he had better bowlers around him keeping the pressure on. Also was a very average bat in his first 20-30 tests his average after his first 20-30 would probably be over 40.
leicsmac Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 Vettori is brilliant - like you said, he's pretty much been NZ cricket for the last however many years. And he's the only mainstream Test cricketer I know to wear glasses while playing.

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 Great knock happy with the wicket, but wanted him to get 4 more runs. Shocking way to go out. Given his side a chance here with a great partnership. Now hope Patto can rip thru them to get some confidence. Also why isn't Vettori still the captain?
