James. Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Anyone got a decent stream? myp2p seems to be down.
FoxyPV Posted 20 August 2011 Author Posted 20 August 2011 You're not missing much. Bopara and Prior facing some pretty inept bowling. They're strolling on towards whatever total they desire or until one of them gets out.
ajthefox Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 anyone been watching since they got started again? England declared for 591 and India are now 95 for 4. 5th just gone as I was typing
Salieri Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 England are a very good side but how on earth were India world number one going into this series?
Corky Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 I've no idea, they must've been doing something well.
Guest MattP Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 England are a very good side but how on earth were India world number one going into this series? Like I said before the series started. India are number 1 because of that incredible batting line up. I dont see them staying there for too long though, too much effort put into the shorter forms now and the impending retirement of Sachin, Dravid, Sehwag, Laxman etc then we will see how good tha Raina's, Mikunds, Kohli's are...They didnt look all that great in the Windies and South Africa should of beat them over the winter. No doubting the quality of either, problem is Zaheer cant bowl 70 overs a day. No sure how effective Barj is going to be over here under the clouds. Ishant and Praveen can bowl all day and we shouldnt have much to worry about. Our bowling attack is underrated on these shores, Anderson should nip it about all the place and Tremletts pace and bounce should trouble any sub continent batsman on these surfaces. Agree on Broad, would have gone with Finn all day long.
accessory Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 If (when) we win the final Test, India will be overtaken by South Africa in the rankings. And with Tendulkar, Laxman and Dravid all due to retire in a couple of years, they could be in transition for some time until some young talent emerges (bowlers as well as batsmen). Meanwhile England march on, and with Trott and Tremlett pushing for recalls when fit, we look strong for the winter tours. The only issue right is the form of Graeme Swann. As the world's premier spin bowler, a bowling average of around 50 during the current series is very disappointing.
ScouseFox Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 Tendulkar gone in the 90s. Unbelievable. Such a big, close lbw call, just right. Still he waits.

I thought there was no way he'd be given out if it was even slightly close, not in the 90s! Great decision as well, credit the Ump.
FoxyPV Posted 22 August 2011 Author Posted 22 August 2011 India has declared war on Tim Bresnan for daring to get Sachin out
Guest MattP Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 This is ruthless. Brilliant. Loved getting Sachin out on 91, absolutely loved it.
marko Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 This is ruthless. Brilliant. Loved getting Sachin out on 91, absolutely loved it. I was hoping he got to 99. It would have been great if he got an absolute stinker of an LBW that he couldn't review. Anyway, start the car, another gutless collapase
marko Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 4-0 Whitewash The Indians got exactly what they deserve - selling out to T20 and chronic lack of preparation.
ScouseFox Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 Like I said on twitter, this is just great. It's been 8 years since we were good at something as a nation, when we won the rugby world cup. But now we're the best team in the world by country mile after country mile. I'm delighted.
Corky Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 India's bowling might not be the best, especially without Zaheer and Harbhajan, but the batting, with all it's strength, to only reach 300 once is a testament to the England bowling. Dominant in every area.
Alexikokopops Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 Lovely stuff. I went yesterday so got to see Dravid's 100 (plus his carrying the bat). He got a hooning standing ovation when he was out in the second innings. For selfish reasons I was quite pleased Tendulkar didn't get his 100th 100. I nearly went today but drank too much gin and stayed in bed for a bit. Gin would have been forever tainted for being the reason I missed his century of centuries and that would have been a horrible situation. I love gin. Actually, more seriously, I'm pleased he didn't get it this series. He's been poor this series in terms of batting and fielding (I've never seen anyone look so disinterested as he's been sitting at third man and letting everyone else run around). You could even argue he's been stubborn in the batting order after Dravid came in as emergency opener again after carrying his bat in the first innings. Plus it would have overshadowed Dravid's achievements. I want Tendulkar to do it, just maybe in a series where he's a bit more deserving. Oh, and in a test match too, not in an ODI. That would be an anticlimax. Am I just babbling now? I'm trying to write this while watching all the post test celebrations so anything could be coming out. The only issue right is the form of Graeme Swann. As the world's premier spin bowler, a bowling average of around 50 during the current series is very disappointing. Spinners generally don't do that brilliantly against India (I'm guessing because they grow up playing it). Here's a list of all the spinners and their figures against India from the past 20 years (only those that have taken at least 10 wickets). Obviously after today his figures have improved (he had an average of about 48 before play today), but a 40+ average isn't that unusual. Even Warne only managed 47!
FoxyPV Posted 22 August 2011 Author Posted 22 August 2011 Once England had scored 591 I said elsewhere that there was no way India would have topped that score in two innings. :smugsmiley: India were completely annihilated. England are scarily strong. There was a debate on testmatchsofa as to whether or not England's second string bowling attack would be in the top three or four bowling attacks in the world. A bit of hyperbole but when you think of it - it's not far wrong. Tremlett, Finn, Onions and Panesar?
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Australia 5-171 batting first in Sri Lanka. Pitch is a bowlers pitch, the ball was spinning in over 6. We are playing another 2 test debutants (just to change things up again) and a player in only his 3rd game. Hope we stick with them we need stability
