ScouseFox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Bopara makes a massive 7. Good decision guys, thankfully it won't be costly.
marko Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 just declare already. Why? it'd be pointless. We should keep them in the field to tire them out and demoralise them a bit more. We've got plenty of time to bowl them out again.
purpleronnie Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 But its just wasting time, weather could change, the current conditions are great for our pace bowlers, its spinning aswell, we're 400 ahead they barely made 200 last time, just seems a waste unless you want to add some quick runs. At least get the fielders running around not just prodding and leaving. We look like the best team in the world, go out and bowl india out and have some faith.

The pitch is only going to get better to bowl on so we might as well keep them out. I think Strauss will let Cook carry on and try to get a monster score.
Podge Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Bopara makes a massive 7. Good decision guys, thankfully it won't be costly. Was an impossible position pretty much after a partnership like that. He's not a bad player and deserves a chance, coming into this game his and Morgan's records were pretty similar across the board. Ravi should stay as the first change option as a batter.

In the words of Rob Smyth on the Guardian Over By Over report: "Only a moron would judge him harshly if he fails" "Bopara didn't quite look right throughout his short innings; he batted like a man who had accentuated the negative, when in fact he should have treated that innings as a freebie. The fact he failed should not count against him; the way he failed might, however."

Corky Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 I see what you're saying Alex, but Bopara just doesn't strike me as a true Test player.

I see what you're saying Alex, but Bopara just doesn't strike me as a true Test player. Oh that's fair enough. I just think to slate him for this particular innings is a bit unfair (not that I'm saying you were both slating him). Personally I'm edging towards agreeing with you, although I can't help but keep urging him to succeed! I think I just really liked his decision to stay and play in county cricket, even though he had an offer to play in the IPL, to try and boost his England chances. Admirable work Ravi.
Alexikokopops Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 We've reached 700 for the first time since 23rd August 1938, and that was in a timeless test!
Guest Bilo Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Cook out for 294. :appl: Superb work, shame he couldn't quite get to 300.
Guest Bilo Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Declared on 710-7, so India chasing 487 just to stay in. That's just colossal.
ScouseFox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Loving how gutted Cook looked at only getting 294.
ScouseFox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahaha Sehwag hahaaha This is crazy.
Guest Bilo Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011  Good luck getting us to bat again boys.
martyn Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Pathetic shot from Sehwag first up against a swinging ball. Having said that, he shouldn't even be playing.
I am Rod Hull Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Hopefully this will be Bopara`s last game for England....
samjohnson Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Indian second innings on Day 2. Im glad i didnt buy a day 5 ticket in the end! I was debating a day 4 aswell, but I dont think that would be wise either
