Does the Cardiff situation worry anyone

Cardiff have been spending an unsustainable amount for a few years, some players will presumably be on massive wages, its only right they cut their cloth to match the reality of lower than expected incomes.

With us, I get the feeling it's this season or things will have to change, the reality is Sven's level of spending because of the class of player he wants (even his own wages) probably isn't sustainable in this division, so every year we don't go up we'll be relying on owners lending us the money. No one knows how long they'll be willing to do that

but I certainly wouldn't worry about it, it's not like there's anything we can do other than enjoy the ride and hope for the best

Wouldn't be worried about the near future but would certainly air on the side of caution as to what will happen when they eventually get bored of us.

It's easy to make parallels; foreign owners who promise everything and appear the perfect owners only to let us down a bit further down the line. It's unfair and inaccurate though.

For a start, our debt was nothing like Cardiff's when the Thais took over thanks to Mandaric bankrolling the club and actually running a fairly tight ship in our first season back in the Championship. Their owners have had to deal with winding up orders, staving off administration and a £40m debt.

I'm pretty sure the ambition of the Raksriaksorns at least matches that of the Malaysians in charge at Cardiff, it's just that we're much less of a car crash than they are. It's pretty clear that they're in this for the long term and while they want to make the Premiership quickly, I doubt they'll go completely mad in the process which is why they've brought in an experienced manager with contacts second to none in this league to bring in players, rather than go for a green Martin Allen type who will make the cheque book weep along with the fans thanks to reckless spending.

They never actually fully took over the club like KP have. They put a large investment forward at the end of last season, then anotger investment at the beginning of this season. I agree it seems to be the same but from what i was told by a cardiff fan its totally different

As long as we are not being hocked up to the eyeballs in debt financed again the club itself then there is less to worry about.

QPR have been in the money since 2007 and have only just reached the promise land so success does not have to be instant if were managed from the top correctly, we have also been fortunate that KP have been vetted as creditable owners by the football league so I wont loose any sleep over it.

Very good summation. The Thai's are for real and mean to get us to the Premeir league in the next couple of years. They wont over spend in the same way that Risdale did at Cardiff.

The greatest risk to LCFC and its sustainability will be if the fans don't turn up and the club does not average over 25,000 per home game in the championship. Currently the stadium is a 32,000 seater. The Thai's have already talked about expanding that to 40,000. They will be relying on the fan base to turn up for attendence revnue which will then make it easier to encourage sponsor/advertising and hospitality revenues.

If fans dont come they won't buy players simple.

No. The Thai's have aligned their own business, King Power with our club, any mishandling or collapse of our club would damage their reputation immensely. They've just installed the senior executive vice-president of King Power as our chief executive, to me that speaks volumes.

...and Dave Jones was sacked for yet another failure. These players leaving says nothing about our Malaysian investors, who recently cut a deal to lower our long-term debt with a creditor a few million more, plus have appointed forensic accountants to look into Sam Hammam's time as chairman and his Langston debt, showing their long-term commitment. And even if they weren't still committed, it still wouldn't say anything about your Thai owners. All that's happening here is the club is clearing out the mess of a bunch of poorly-dedicated "professionals", that'll do this, and the manager that allowed it and resided over yet another spectacular failure. Change was needed and the general consensus down here is it's about bloody time.

I didn't say it was (solely) down to Risdale - it was more of a general swipe at him. Short-termist strategist without any consideration for long-term consequences.
