Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_7031339,00.html Leicester boss Sven Goran Eriksson has confirmed the Foxes have taken Michael Ball on trial and Tsepo Masilela is set to join the club on loan. Former Everton and Rangers star Ball played under Eriksson at Manchester City but has been without a club since 2009 when his contract expired. South African defender Masilela, meanwhile, is set to join the King Power Stadium outfit on a season-long loan from Israeli side Maccabi Haifa. Former England boss Eriksson has already signed six players, as the big-spending Foxes look to build a side capable of winning promotion. Speaking in Sweden, where the club is based for pre-season training, Eriksson told Fotbollskanalen: "I had Michael Ball at Manchester City. He has been injured for a year-and-a-half and has no club so I have invited him on for pre-season training. "So far he has been good and if he continues like he has we will offer him a contract." On Masilela, Eriksson added: "He came here today for a medical, so ask me tomorrow and I'll know more." .
bald reynard Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Must have failed his medical if we're signing Konchesky. Bruno will be gone, if we also get Ball.

MikeyT Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Who said he has fail his Medical ? Think he's going on assumptions.
eddiehypefunk Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 some insight into Tsepo Masilela for you: http://edaarons.blogspot.com/
Daz93 Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Would rather Masilela then Konchesky tbh. Same here, more pace.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Doesn't he have to wait for one to leave before he can be allowed in, as is the Tory policy on immigration? But really, someone should get onto the local Leicester MP, get him on the case. Oh, f--k my old boots!
Brainy Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 would rather Konchesky. a more than capable premier league player and would be an asset in this league. surprised this whole "the championship is a better standard than the israeli leagues' hasnt been brought up.

Yakubu used to play for Maccabi Haifa... The same side that Masilela is at now...

Totally agree, Konchesky is a more than capable player at this level. Dont remember too much of Masilela but do remember South Africa's left back at the world cup being torn to bits by Uruguay's right side (no disgrace) and being at fault for Mexico's equaliser in the opening game. (cross came into Marquez standing on the right side of the pen area with no one near him)

Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Konchesky is 30 though. Feel us getting Masilela with option to buy would be a great business. Understand your point, but Konchesky is solid as anything at this level and knows the league inside out. Masilela would probably take time to settle, plus I have severe doubts over his defensive ability from the limited action I have seen of him.

I think if we're looking at next season alone then I'd go for Konchesky but think Masilela could be a good LB for a few years for us. We'll see. I would be chuffed with either tbh.
accessory Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Totally agree, Konchesky is a more than capable player at this level. So why did Forest drop him halfway through his loan spell? Maybe his confidence is still in pieces after his experience at Anfield..
escos Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 So why did Forest drop him halfway through his loan spell? Maybe his confidence is still in pieces after his experience at Anfield.. Or maybe it's because he is not very good!
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 So why did Forest drop him halfway through his loan spell? Maybe his confidence is still in pieces after his experience at Anfield.. Possibly, what I do know was he has the ability to play consistently well at a higher level than this after his performances at West Ham/Fulham over the last few seasons. Could be a fantastic signing for somebody on a free if they can get him anywhere near that form.
dannythefox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 We do not want Konchesky no one at liverpool has a good word to say about him. He was even worse when he was at forest and even they got rid of him.
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 I hope he doesn't stop until we have the biggest, blackest team in the Championship. Just imagine an absolute battering ram of a team containing Yakubu, Heskey, Martins, Elokobi, Samba, Bamba... What a daft comment, why on earth would you judge any footballer on his race? Saying we would become a battering ram of a team just because we would sign 11 blacks is a stupid as saying we would become like Spain if we went out and signed 11 catalunyans.

sdb Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Can't help but think Konchesky's career is on a very slippery slope now. Masilela would be my preferred shout, despite seeing less of him.
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 i think it's more the fact they are all units Martins, Freddy Adu,

Could be a fantastic signing for somebody on a free if they can get him anywhere near that form. But Liverpool are apparently asking £1.5 million for him. Would be a bit of a risk at that price. Also it's been reported on another website that Masilela has passed his medical in Sweden and is now awaiting the processing of his work permit application.
