Bert Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Thought he was from Swindon? That's what wiki says. He's the son of ex LCFC Gary Mills.
Darkon84 Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 He scored a goal header against us last season at The Walkers in a 2-1 for them. And cleared one off the line i think
MikeyT Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 SSN: A bit more detail on Leicester City's £5million bid for Matt Mills being accepted by Reading after a previous offer of £3.75million was rejected. Stoke City and Wolves have also been linked with Mills.
Alexikokopops Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Wiki says Swindon! & Walshy was NOT born in Leicester either Thought he was from Swindon? That's what wiki says. He's the son of ex LCFC Gary Mills. The Reading article described him as "Leicester-born". Plus, if you now look on Wiki, it says Leicester
martyn Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 I'm hoping this isn't £5m straight up, that's exorbitant money. I'm not as excited about this transfer as others, although he's exactly the type of centre half we need. Pretty much 100% of Reading fans on their forums are delighted about the fee.
One Arm Babba Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 dont want to put a damper on things but agent to mills " i know you want to go to wolves but there offer is shite, so go down to leicester and get as close to signing as you can. hopefully wolves will then realise their going to lose you and phone me up saying ok well pay this much now to millsy and also pay reading the 5m.". " tell leicester you need time to think about the personal terms offer and go speak to wolves " no doubt a lot of transfers go like this lets hope this is not one of them. glass half empty
scatdoctor Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 With all the cash were splashing. Thought Naughton would have been a target, we were reportedly put off by the price tag (around £5m I think)
Libertine Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Is he really worth 5mil? Probably not quite, let alone with only a year left, but he's easily one of the best in the league for the past few years.
zubi Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 The Reading article described him as "Leicester-born". Plus, if you now look on Wiki, it says Leicester NYAN NYAN NYAN NYAN NYAN NYAN NYAN NYAN NYAN NYAN NYAN NYAN
Chazwaz Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 On BBC radio Leicester it said an offer has been accepted for 4.5 million rising to 5.5 million could it be 1 million extra if we secure promotion?
zubi Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Probably not quite, let alone with only a year left, but he's easily one of the best in the league for the past few years. Yeah that's what I thought, i know hes quality... but for 5mil? Sorry i've been under a rock for the past few week... is our summer budget still 10mil?

" tell leicester you need time to think about the personal terms offer and go speak to wolves " no doubt a lot of transfers go like this lets hope this is not one of them. Or, from a current Premiership footballer's point of view: These negotiations are a minefield. I remember being in talks for a move from one Premier League club to another – nothing overly exciting about that – until a phone call shortly before I was due to sign, from another player at a rival club. It went something like this: "Have you signed yet?" "No." "Don't sign whatever you do, our gaffer wants to talk to you." That's how quickly your career can change course. The rival manager calls moments later and begins spouting all the usual ego-boosting rubbish that he hopes will turn my head, and tells me not to sign until I've heard him out face to face. I relay this to my agent, who sits me down and explains in plain English why it would be a terrible mistake to leave the boardroom where we currently have an agreed deal in place, albeit not signed. It lasted 10 minutes but was essentially this: "If you leave this room now, the manager who has just been on the phone will know you can't set foot in here again for the same terms that we have already agreed. As a consequence, your arrival at the second club will be greeted with a derisory contract offer, which you, of course, will reject. And so when you come back to this club, they will cancel what we have already agreed and make you a take-it-or-leave-it offer knowing you now have nowhere else to go and that they would, essentially, be bidding against themselves." With me? At this point, my potential employers have sensed something is going on and I'm whisked out of the room and fed Mars Bars and Coca-Cola while two people talk to me about anything and everything, ensuring my agent and I are kept apart – it's a classic pincer manoeuvre. As long as we stay, though, the manager of the club where we are has a dilemma: he doesn't know who this new club sniffing around is but he has to assume it's a club at least as big as his own given the figures involved, so what should he do with his contract offer now?

Can I just say something... **** off! <_<
Libertine Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Yeah that's what I thought, i know hes quality... but for 5mil? Sorry i've been under a rock for the past few week... is our summer budget still 10mil? I think it's safe to say it never was.

John Matrix Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 With all the cash were splashing. Thought Naughton would have been a target, we were reportedly put off by the price tag (around £5m I think) yeah weird that. mills is captain of his club, more experienced and a cb though. that probably played into it. they're obviously confident pelts can do as good a job but for cheaper
Babylon Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 That's what wiki says. He's the son of ex LCFC Gary Mills. Man I loved Gary Mills, this makes me want him even more!!
zubi Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 heres hoping there was a typo and our actual budget is 100 mil
Woollett's Wellies Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 If this comes off I expect the phone to ring in the Bristol City Chairman's office and a scary voice to say... `My name is Sven Goran Eriksson, King of Kings: Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!'
Leicfox Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Is he really worth 5mil? Players are only worth what clubs are willing to pay. Were willing to pay it, so yes he's worth it.
