READING captain Matt Mills is in talks with his hometown club Leicester City after the clubs agreed a fee.

Royals are believed to have accepted a bid of around £4 million for the 24-year-old centre-back.

Leicester-born Mills moved to Royals for £2 million from Doncaster Rovers two years ago.

But last week the ex-Manchester City and Southampton player rejected a new deal at Madejski Stadium.

That meant Mills would have been in a position to leave Reading on a free transfer next summer when his contract ran out.

As a result, it seems Royals are ready to cash-in while they can and sell to Championship rivals Foxes.

It is understood Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers also met Reading's valuation of the defender, but Mills has opted for a move to the Walkers Stadium.

If the transfer goes through, Royals boss Brian McDermott will have to step up his search for a new defender as Ivar Ingimarsson and Zurab Khizanishvili have also left Madejski Stadium since the end of last season.

That leaves McDermott with only two specialist centre-halves in youngster Alex Pearce and the relatively inexperienced Sean Morrison.

He's failed his medical.

Only joking

Interesting, I appear to have had a heart attack. Has the medical actually taken place/started yet? (You rascal!!)

I tell you. That would be a brilliant rumour for the club to get out in the hope that Wolves would pick it up and hesitate just long enough for us to get him signed! :sweating:

According to that ^ he wants to join wolves because they can offer him premier league football....hmm interesting.

would expect if straight offer on level playing field then yes he would choose our wolves over yourselves

but with you raising the bar and getting first contract talks (hopefully you offer him a bomb) then hope he goes your way

wolves still yet to agree a fee, and even if he did prefer to come to us (if true?) then he may also change his mind if wolves dont act quickly - seems leicester shown bit more desire to conclude the deal
