Precisely. Should be an absolute outrage to anyone concerned about human rights but there you go, money and fanfare much more important...

I don't quite think Russia are on the same level, to be fair.

Perhaps, and unlike China I would say Russia's a place I'd consider visiting as a tourist.

Still feel that cultural issues (racism, homophobia etc) should count much more heavily against World Cup-hosting bids though - evidently all such matters are of little concern to Sepp "Gay people should just stop being gay if they want to attend the World Cup in Qatar" Blatter...

How the **** is a disallowed goal, 2mins after scoring our first, at 2-1 down, just before half time 'irrelevant'

Thats bollocks.

I bet it wouldn't be irrelevant if city had that same situation.

I accept that England aren't well liked (even by English people pretending its cool to hate their own team) but saying that disallowed goal is irrelevant is comedy gold

lol Classic responses on here, we are either the best in the world or by far the shittest. Laughable.

We will always be a top 10 footballing nation. I don't think the current squad is quite the 4th best in the world at the moment though, top 7 or 8 definitely.

The problem is that Spain are just a million miles away from everybody at the moment.

By the way to the earlier poster....if England got "bum****ed" by the counterattacking Germans and thus makes us shit....the Argies lost the same way in the next game...does that make them shit too? Why are they so high up in the rankings?

Russia was nothing like as much of a joke as Qatar, but their bid was still rated as the weakest technical bid by FIFA themselves due to serious concerns over infrastructure and ability to actually have the stadia built in time. Not to mention the serious concerns surrounding endemic racism and human rights issues in the country. That said, I was more willing to accept it as Russia is surely the largest football market never to have hosted any serious tournament and their league is improving.

Qatar 2022 is obviously an extremely unfunny joke however and deserves to be boycotted by as many nations as possible.

You were raped all over the field by an awesome German side with better players in almost every position who were organized and actually WANTED to be there.

They outclassed us yes, but saying that the disallowed goal was irrelevant, is a joke.

We'd gone 2 goals down before we scored one and then we had one disallowed. The momentum was going our way, if that goal had been allowed who knows what the final score would have been. It obviously made a difference.

It would be absurd to suggest that the team which plays the best in a match always wins - regardless of the Germans' superiority all over the pitch, had it gone to 2-2 it could have been a whole different story. No doubt at all.

Bollocks. I live in Germany. Every Germany i know said that if it had gone to 2-2 momentum would have been Englands and the game would have been ours.

For the first 20 minutes Germany had us but after that we controlled the ball and the Germans just hit us on the counter. Its the same tactics they played the whole tournament. Score early and hit on the counter and tear teams apart. They did it to us, the Australians and the Argentinians.

When they came up against Spain, where they didn't score early. They were played off the park.

So England are as good as Spain when not cheated by corrupt officials!? lol lol

I love England fans.

no, because while they got absolutely raped by the germans, they managed to perform well in at least 1 match that tournament, 1 more than england.

And whether that goal had been given or not, the germans would have ****ed you right over. They were just so superior.

Ifs and buts. Germany were a few classes above and it would've shown in the end result either way. And Germany being 'played off the park' in the semi is a bit strong too, IMO.

One of the most arrogant, complacent and completely wrong statements I've read on Foxestalk in a long time. I wouldn't even put us in the top 10 now, even among European countries.

We were inept against Montenegro at home and are at serious risk of finishing below them in in our qualifying group. The only team we've beaten at competitive level in the last 9 months is Wales (enough said - lol )

FIFA do have something of a love-hate relationship with the FA though - this time last year they decided Howard Webb was the best ref in the world.. :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh:

We may or may not have lost against the Germans had the goal been allowed, but we had the momentum in our favour at that time.

And no, I don't even think we are a top 10 footballing nation, we are terrible and have been for years.

I think finnegan and large al allow their dislike for our national team to show through in their posts when its unnecessary.

I go all over watching england, and i'll be the first to admit we're crap more often than not, you cannot say we're crap all the time, basing what you say on your dislike for us! To be fair the press are terrible for it still as well. It was only last week I saw another write up in the sun slagging off the switzerland result. It wasn't a year ago that they beat spain!

Haha seriously??? Love it, yes we struggled against Montenegro, but did they beat us? We struggled against Switzerland at home, did they beat us? No they didn't, but we happened to annihilate Switzerland at their place. Maybe if we have been losing these games then maybe your complete overreaction to Englands current problems would be valid. But try me, name 10 European nations that would be ahead of England right now?

England are a top 10 footballing nation but are we close to breaking into the top 5 anytime soon? No. Though despite us having all these recent issues under Capello, in our last 30 games we've lost 5. Not bad as a stat. We are certainly not shit, but are we going to win the next European Championships or the next World Cup? No we aren't, and i doubt many England fans would ever suggest that either.

England are fine up until tournaments, usually qualifying is a stroll, which helps our rankings, and we win at least a couple of games in finals.

Fair enough argument if it happened in the 80th minute. It didn't though, it happened just before half-time. Goal or not, it should have absolutely fired the English up (as if losing 2-1 to the Germans wasn't enough motivation already). Even if the goal had been allowed, they would've still needed to score another one and Germany looked razor-sharp every time they moved forward. Like you I'm just speculating, but you're clutching at straws if you believe you could have avoided losing that game.

I think if you ask around some of the less easily offended / quick to upset users on Foxes Talk they'll probably tell you the opposite. I've generally been pretty impartial when it comes to England over the last couple of years. I will happily admit I tend to see the Welsh side and it's players through rose-tinted glasses but when it comes to you lot? Eh, I'd rather you lose than win on a given match day but generally I'll call it as I see it.

I'm probably WUMing a little with the language used in this thread because I know people like you and BlueSiS will have a hissy fit but I'm ultimately only expressing what the rest of the world saw, look at shen's remarks if you don't believe me.

A fairly poor England side (with a woefully out of form back four) got absolutely battered by a very promising German squad that was on incredible form. You were never likely to win.

Gladly..

Spain

Netherlands

Germany

Italy

France

Portugal

Sweden

Greece

Czech Republic

Ireland

Could probably throw Russia, Croatia and Turkey into the mix as well.

None of the above would regard a home draw against Montenegro as a result to celebrate.
