That sentence pretty much sums up the reasons why FIFA rankings are a joke.

Or anywhere in Eastern Europe? Massive nation, up and coming football league and national side, great growing interest, huge market. Good decision.

Massive widespread problems with unbridled racism. Not even yet considered a "free country" by human rights groups. I'm all for extending the reach of football around the globe but I'm afraid I also believe the countries involved need to reach an appropriate level of civilisation within their society before they receive the privilege. Both Russia and Qatar have a long way to go before they fit that bill. Oh and as for England going up in the rankings... !
