  1. 1. Who would you rather see in a City shirt this season?

Right, both these potential transfers have dragged on for some time now and no one really knows exactly what is going on. Realistically, in my opinion, we are only likely to sign one (we may not get either), but ideally which of the two do we want?

The initial excitement at being linked with Maynard seems to have somewhat turned to boredom of waiting for news on whether or not a deal is any closer to being agreed. Most seemed somewhat underwhelmed by the prospect of having CMS with us originally, but after reading the Posh fans thoughts on him, Foxestalkers have definately warmed to the idea.

Who is the bigger risk? Maynard has scored plenty of goals in this division in recent seasons and is undoubtedly the more naturally gifted footballer, but the injury he has just recovered from is a worry. He is comfortably the younger of the 2 players and that's probably why he is likely to cost us a bit more money. CMS has had one average season at this level, in a poor, relegated team. He was the leading scorer in the country last season (allbeit in league 1) and his workrate is second to none (Yakubu perhaps? :crylaugh: ) but will he be anywhere near as effective for the foxes in the Championship? CMS Missed very few (if any) games last season through injury.

Which of the 2 do you think can fire City back to the Premiership?

I can't pretend I'm really clued up on either tbh but have read what's been said about CMS I worry that he might be another Iain Hume, a very expensive one too.

He has similar drive to Hume but the difference is 35 goals last season, not sure they can be compared based on that!

A week ago i would say maynard, but now id prefer CMS

Because Maynard's been in such bad form over the past week?

whats happening with maynard anyway.

It all seems to have gone a bit quiet.

Have we put in a bid which Bristol have accepted? If not, there won't be a deal.

Craig Mackail-Smith as there's so much more to his game than just scoring goals, he's a model professional, works his socks off and loyal.

I think he'd be a great signing and would fit into this team perfectly.

Maynard no question. Not only has he had a 20+ season in the Championship but I like to watch entertaining football too.

I agree, Maynard is on another level and at least the double pricetag. Maynard does something with the ball and knows where the net is intuitive. CMS runs, runs and oops, goal........

CMS will, sorry to say, be limited in this league against better defence.

This.

For me Maynard should be our number 1 target for a new striker and is worth the hassle that will no doubt come from trying to prize Bristol City's number one asset from them.

Should be an option for neither! Maynard more proven at this level - but his injury problems suggest he may have glass knees, esp for £4 odd million. Whereas Mackail-Smith, while he's a goalscorer, isn't proven at this level...

I have my doubts over both, esp at the fees mentioned

Glass knees??????? He has hurt one knee once and played 13 games without reaction since the injury and scored 6 goals!!!!!!!

I'll tell you what, let someone else have him and we can watch from a distance what a star he will become!!!!!!
