kingfox Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 From my era GK - Pressman RB - Curtis CB - Howey CB - Gerrbrand LB - McGivern RM - Low CM- Lewis CM - Hamill LM - Laczko ST - Akinbiyi ST - Cort We have had some pretty awful wingers looking back not all of them can be included of course.
hebangsthedrums Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 That I've seen; Pressman Curtis / Howey / N'Gotty / Makin Low / Wise / Clemence / Newton Dublin / Hammond Taylor & Holloway in the dugout
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 McLintock inherited a team in decline. While out of his depth as a manager, I wouldn't say he was as appalling as Pleat, Taylor or Holloway. Can't agree with you. He did not by one decent player, with the exception of George Armstrong, who by then had lost his pace. Frank Mclintock was one of the finest players we ever had, but was just not cut out for management. Mind you, ,if I recollect correctly, he had very little money to spend.
Fox92 Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Some choices are different. For example, in my opinion, Stephen Clemence wouldn't be down as one of the worst players to ever play for Leicester. I don't think Johnathon Stevenson has been mentioned yet. Scored a 25-yard shot once away at Ipswich when we lost 6-1 as it went under the goalkeepers hands He was poor (I mean Stevenson not the goalkeeper, although the goalkeeper didn't cover himself in glory). Holloway wasnt to blame. It was Milan who picked the squad, not the manager Why wasn't Holloway to blame? His final position with Leicester City was the worst by any previous manager. And can somebody expand on Milan? I don't get why you posted Milan picked the squad.
The Don Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Ormandroyd on the wing was great. think he played there so we could accommodate phil gee and bobby davison in the same side!
accessory Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Can't agree with you. He did not buy one decent player, with the exception of George Armstrong, who by then had lost his pace. Frank Mclintock was one of the finest players we ever had, but was just not cut out for management. Mind you, ,if I recollect correctly, he had very little money to spend. He signed Gary Lineker though..
vegas Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Gary Coatsworth should be spared from this list only for his goal against Luton and his assist in the 1994 Play-Off Final
accessory Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Indeed. There are comparatively few players who have tasted victory at Wembley in a City shirt. Those fortunate to be in that select band, such as Coatsworth, Mark Blake or Brian Carey should be exempt from this thread.
LoughboroughFox Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 So nobody wants my signed Elvis Hammond shirt then?
Aylestone Fox Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Surprised Yan Kermorgant not been mentioned yet..?
Sparky Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Since i've been watching in 1986 Kevin Pressman Jacob Laursen Matt Heath Brian Carey Tony Spearing Josh Low Junior Lewis Michael Trotter Lee Marshall Ade Akinbiyi Richard Cresswell
Wymsey Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Mark De Vries. He was well on form for us during a part of a season whilst he was here. I think he scored 12 goals or something? But he was a very dopey footballer despite this.
lcfcjim Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Surprised Yan Kermorgant not been mentioned yet..? Kermo was decent...
Rhysm Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 This would be mine since following city from circa 1988. Pressman - Shocking goalie. Maybury - Was always so unhinged. Never felt comfortable as always looked like he was getting a red card. McGivern - Just what was his decent attributes? Carey - Bit of a stopper Mohan - Struggled with centre halves but remember him being pretty bad. Low - So slow and awful S. Hughes - Weakest player ever. Supposed ball player but just useless! J.Lewis - The jewell in Taylors crown L. Marshall - Woeful Hammond - Should have been good - quick strong but technique was dreadful from his final ball to daisy cutter finish. N. Blake - Last legs Contenders also lucky not to get in - Hamill - Most of Leveins rubbish in fact, Rab Douglas the pieman,
sbfox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Surprised Yan Kermorgant not been mentioned yet..? Other than 'that' penalty, he didn't do that much wrong. Pearson didn't play him much at all, he created at least two vital goals for us and scored a wonderful goal against 'boro.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 I would put a few keepers before saying Logan was shit. Ricardo and ikeme for starters. Fair enough, he doesn't fill me with confidence, but shit, I wouldn't say so. Taylor was the worst manager for me for the simple fact of how easy he was manipulated by Savage et al. Weak managers are no good to anyone. That was the beginning of the end of us. Didn't think Rantenan was shite either. Not great but not shite. I remember it being on the back of the Mercury as well about his shorts. Didn't some woman make him a pair? Think he got a double on his debut??? Think we beat Birmingham 4-2 or 5-2. Scored the next couple of games.
ScoutMan Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Gary Coatsworth should be spared from this list only for his goal against Luton and his assist in the 1994 Play-Off Final Slowcoach isnt getting out of this one. 1 cross in a playoff final dosent spare him 4 me. Still got dragged in the match if I remember rightly....
Aylestone Fox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Other than 'that' penalty, he didn't do that much wrong. Pearson didn't play him much at all, he created at least two vital goals for us and scored a wonderful goal against 'boro. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying he should be included, was just surprised he hadnt been mentioned because of 'THAT' penalty....
deanolegend1989 Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 The sad thing is Taylor was in a wonderful position in March 2001- fourth in the Premier League, home quarter-final in the FA Cup and some favourable home fixtures to come in the league (our away form was terrible but we were strong at Filbert St). We should've had an amazing season It was the Wycombe Defeat that seemed to knock the stuffing out of us and we were never the same. However the main truth was Neil Lennon..he left in december and we got hammered 6-1 at Arsenal showed the signs..a few lucky wins later we were still 4th in March but it was when Lennon went that was the turning point! Neil Lennon Leicester Legend
kimsalabim Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Pressman Makin Laursen Moreno Rogers Low Junior Lewis Williams Sylla Cort Akinbiyi
deanolegend1989 Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Worst XI: Douglas Curtis Gerrbrand Marshall Brevet Low Wise Lewis Jon Stevenson Akinbiyi(just for the game vs Liverpool alone) Tommy smith(dog shit) One hell of a team! Hammond showed some good finishing(Shef utd 4-2, Stoke away 3-2 the game when gudjohnson scored a beauty) Who remembers clive clarke who had a heart attack at forest? what happened to him?
Mickey O'Neil Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 Who remembers clive clarke who had a heart attack at forest? what happened to him? He either works for a solicitors in Newcastle (the one in Stoke, not Tyne) for football related matters, or he works for an agent. Summit like that anyways.
