Sven Says Squad Is Too Big

Recommended Posts

Just seen on the Sky Sports news info bar, that Sven Goran Eriksson has said that the squad is currently too big, and players will be sold. Of course this was going to happen sooner or later, but does this affect the flow of new signings at all or will we just carry on as normal by flogging players out aswell as getting players in. Doesn't seem Bamba will be a player who is going to leave, as it has said that Sven wants him to stay of course in the Mercury, on other websites and also on sky sports news.

So what players do you think will be heading for the exit doors, it's not hard to figure out the main one's but could we get a few shocks or two?

Robbie Neilson - Been told to find another club

Moreno - Won't get played now as we have Danns, Oakley as back-up and been linked with Hargreaves

Dany N'Guessan - No room for him anymore, don't think his good enough

Tom Kennedy - Waste of a buy definitely will be sold

Tom Parkes - Too many defenders, been loaned out but might be time to sell properly

Leon Crncic - Will be released I suspect

Yann Kermorgant - Less said about him the better

Think those seven players are destined for the exit, meanwhile that still leaves players like Tunchev, Howard, Dyer and Waghorn in the dark will they depart aswell?

If those players included the one's im not sure about we would have a squad looking like this.

Goalkeepers - Weale, Smith, Schmeichel

Defenders - Berner, Bamba, Mills, St Ledger, Peltier

Midfielders - Oakley, King, Wellens, Abe, Moussa, Danns

Wingers - Gallagher, Vassell

Strikers - Nugent, Schlupp

Thoughts?

we will keep waggy and tunchev defiantly! If we dont keep waghorn then we need a top striker because Sclupp cannot be our 2nd choice striker..

Tunchev? Waghorn? Howard?

I think (and hope) waghorn, dyer and tunchev will stay. Sven has said Tunch has a contract up til the end of pre season, and he wants him to stay after that providing he proves his fitness.

I don't know if Dyer will stay or not but Howard will stay aswell. He is not long from retiring and I wouldn't mind seeing Howard and Nugent up front

You are joking about Howard

Sven will probably let all the fringe players play in the friendlys. :D

If we play a 4-4-2 vassell will play on the wing and If we play a 4-3-3 then nugent will be on his own...still though what's so bad about Howard?

Howard offers nothing.

Vassell is hardly a 4-4-2 type winger either. He can do a job as the 'wing forward' type role in a 4-3-3 okay. I guess we don't have any other options for the wing apart from Gallagher atm though, not that he's a 'winger'.

Err he is good in the air....

At giving fouls away when jumping mostly these days. Way past it.

more like he is too strong and the defenders go down easy lol Plus he isn't past it? next season though will be his and Oakleys last

Problem is that Nugent plays on the left side of a front three - Waghorns position.... If they want the team to be financially viable... do they really want 2m-3m valued players sitting on the bench? meaning Waghorn and Bamba....

Too slow, lack of skill, gives away too many fouls, doesn't score enough goals, no awareness...oh, did I mention that he's too slow?

Look, Howard has been a good servant to the club and I've no doubt he's a good professional and a nice guy, but if you seriously think he's good enough to spearhead a promotion-winning team you really need to get your head checked. To be honest, the best thing for him now would be to find a club in League 1, he'd actually get some game time and he's worth playing at that level.

Hardly.

And I think the financially viable bit is more the club as a whole than just the team. Waghorn isn't really worth that anyway IMO.

Swear Waghorn played on the right and in the centre of the 3. Whereas Gallagher played on the left, also waggy isnt worth 2-3m lol we only payed that because Sousa told sunderland how much we had to spend and how does this mean Bamba will be on the bench?

Use your Noggins, lads!

After we got Vassell he used Vassell on the right of the three. He is after Maynard ( or someone else if we dont get him) to play down the middle - a natural goal scorer.. He did not sign Nugent to sit on the bench..

If he didnt use Waghorn as a regular starter last season what makes you think he will this season? especially after signing 2 more strikers ( one of those still to come... but definitely on his way.. Possibly Ched Evans aswell!!)

I'd like to see Robbie Neilson, Dany N'Guessan, Tom Kennedy and Yann Kermorgant all to be sold.

I can't see Tunchev staying for much longer. I can see this forthcoming season being his last.

Waghorn is ok backup at the minute, but if we get better strikers in (such as Maynard), then I don't care if Waghorn is sold. He can't control his shots. Dyer is decent but nothing more, I prefer him on the right than left but he is far too inconsistant for a team looking for Promotion like ourselves. Gallagher isn't good enough either.

As for Howard, he is slow now. But he still holds the ball up well. Although he isn't there to score, his passion for the game is top rate and I think we could develop him into a coach.
