googie Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Maybe not a 20 goals a season man but for a man a target man can play off ,what about James Mcfadden.over 200 prem games and still only 28 on a free.could be worth a go.Would improve the depth we have in the forward the line.Maybe link him with the elusive 20 goals a season man??? Nugent,Vassell,Waghorn,Mcfadden plus a.n.other would be good for me!Proven 20 gaols a season men are highly sort after and when you find 1 club's dont let them go.If Maynard dont come then we may have to take a punt from overseas or look to lower leagues to find a hidden gem.Whoever he bring's in i'm sure Sven wont let us down. You never know,he may already be here, Jeff Schlupp.
Sthlm Fox Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Ishmail Miller?? Good shout. Seems big, strong and fast. May not have the best of goalscoring records but I would definitely consider him if I was Sven-Göran.
phildw Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Yep.......we already got Jeff Schlupp ....and he'll score more than Lita would !!! Not based on tonight's performance he won't. And yes i did watch the game.
danfox76 Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Not based on tonight's performance he won't. And yes i did watch the game. don't judge him on todays game, he's only 18 it was his first start, and was playing against one of the best teams in spain, also he was to busy helping out in defence to show his attacking ability, did you really watch the game if you did you would know this already

Happy Fox Posted 24 July 2011 Posted 24 July 2011 Shane Long yes he may be pricey but I could see him coming here, Reading's stance is weakening, a bid of £3m-4m should get him, there fans valuation is 3-4m http://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=107265&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=40

I Still havent ruled out a new signing introduction in front of a fiull house against Madrid

He has far greater technical ability than Maynard, knows exactly where the back of the net is and my personal opinion is that he's more capable of making the step up to the premier league than Maynard. The fact that like Maynard that he has one year remaining on his contract makes him very approachable and seeing as Reading seem to be a selling club right now, I'm surprised we haven't lodged a bid for him. I'd certainly feel far happier spending £5m on him rather than Maynard.

I Still havent ruled out a new signing introduction in front of a fiull house against Madrid He isn't Injury prone, he's had 2 serious unrelated injuries, the claim that he's injury prone is a myth.
shiv Posted 24 July 2011 Posted 24 July 2011 He isn't Injury prone, he's had 2 serious unrelated injuries, the claim that he's injury prone is a myth. Him being labelled a 20 goal a season striker should really be a myth too when he's only hit 20 goals once...
Spudulike Posted 24 July 2011 Posted 24 July 2011 He isn't Injury prone, he's had 2 serious unrelated injuries, the claim that he's injury prone is a myth. I don't think its a myth that he can't fully train and his suspect knee won't be fully healed for another 18 months.
Happy Fox Posted 24 July 2011 Posted 24 July 2011 Shane Long in my opinion would be a more worthwhile investment than Maynard cheaper as well (4m), as Reading don't have much of a grip on their assets, and bagged 25 goals last season. Bring him in Sven One year left on his contract
wakeyfox01 Posted 24 July 2011 Posted 24 July 2011 Him being labelled a 20 goal a season striker should really be a myth too when he's only hit 20 goals once... So has Long
Filberts lovechild Posted 24 July 2011 Posted 24 July 2011 Ebanks-Blake or Ricardo Fuller would be amazing. Either one of those 2 or Maynard or Yakubu would get us the 20 goal a season striker.
Wymsey Posted 24 July 2011 Posted 24 July 2011 Ebanks-Blake or Ricardo Fuller would be amazing. Either one of those 2 or Maynard or Yakubu would get us the 20 goal a season striker. Can have bad attitudes both on and off the pitch. He reminds me of Yakubu whilst playing as he doesn't run for the ball near him but he has great shots and skills in him. Wouldn't mind him.

Got to worth a bid as he's probably down the pecking order a bit at stoke these days
